I can't really agree or disagree with you because you didn't put any details into your response to the questions asked.Who is the man? How is he helping the community? What about the food supply?

The man is trying to develop aa health community where we grow our own food supply that full of fresh real 100% food .I feel if we could do that in our own community alot of things we eat would be none existent in our lives but because we eat so much junk we are consume and adapt to it .

Ietef Vita is do great in his own community he didn't have people tell him do to something in a community he decide to do it..he wants to change the community that food is medicine and that you can make change .he wanted to start approaching to start trying it .It would take some people in my community to help around so we can have something going we need pitching in to start planting and saying that junk food will get you no where we need to start eating greens and vegetables we need show compassion to let people know that we can make a change. I feel that Ietef Vita is doing a great job in his community by keeping youth involved and living by what he teaches. What it would take for this to happen in my community is being able to put myself out there and having people behind me to help out. Also for this to happen in my community I would need more of the young people from my generation to pitch in this has to be a team effort. Everything starts off as a plan now whether I have the people to help me depends on them but I have to have a space to start a garden and the necessary tools such a gloves, hoes, seeds, etc. Then I would need to know which fruits and vegetables grow during which seasons. This also means that I have made a commitment and that I should have a schedule in place for me to take care of the garden.

Ms.Criss, in your response you repeatedly say that "I would" not mentioning the role other members in the community take. I am trying to understand your perspective as you mention that "I would need", you stated that this is a team effort however, in a team effort there is no "I' there is "we", "we" would need to create change. Your diction portrayed a very egotistical character. In addition, I do agree that younger generations are a fundamental part in creating change especially when it relates to health.

The idea of gardening in the community would cause a peaceful enviroment. Due to the healthy life choices people would have more energy and be confident in the way they both look and feel. People could have natural flowers to have for decoration and a pleasing view when they step outside and see the gardens bushes and trees at their best.

I feel like Ietef Vita is making a good impact in his community. He started a song with young adults talking about how fast food is not a good food choice to eat . for younger people to start something new. It shows communities around the world that there are plenty ways to start something new and fresh. He also mention that your community might be messed up but you can build it up and start making it look right. he also said that we ( generation now) need to start eating healthier .It is not healthy for our body . ( I'm adding on to my first statement because I accidently publish it ).

Ietef Vita is helping out his community by adding his tradition and cultural skills into it, he used his influence to help children eat healthier food and communicate with his audience that a healthier lifestyle is the way to go. In order for me to ever see a change in my lifestyle choices i need inspiration and support from my family and friends. I feel as that Ietef changed his life through experiencing a new way of thinking. If their was any implementation of a healthier food style movement it would be called "The Healthy Life Movement". This movement would help me straighten not only my way of eating but my way of life. *I feel that in a community, there needs to be someone who can push them forward in the right direction and make them practice better life choices. Ietef made a change in his community by applying what he was taught and used it too help his community. The need for the movement would help kids my age get into gardening, eating healthier, and growing their own food. This will help the community stay fresh, healthier, and thrive more off of a positive life.

I agree that Vita is incorporating his own culture and tradition to a community where success is not an every-day thing. Inspiration from your family and friends will be a great motivator, but I also feel like you should have more people to help make a change in such a large area. The more people you have supporting you, the easier and better the change will be.

I have to agree with you Mr. Ajoubi . Vita's contribution to the society is not only beneficial for the communities health, but for its intellect as well. I do see were the need for support is coming from, but it is not always necessary if you put your mind and heart to it. If a movement such as Vita's was placed into action in our community, there would be a drastic change in not only this generation, but the ones to come as well.

Z.Williams
2/5/2017 01:54:26 pm

I agree with Mr. Ajuobi in the video Letef Vita was able make his point clear through culture and his idea of eating healthy and how to make the right eating choices. The movement being able to help children reflexively eating things that are healthy will help for a better future and a much better generation for they can teach these eating habits to their children. Growing your own food is not really present in the 21st century yet the food quality is rapidly decreasing from chemicals to other cells and DNA being implemented in our food, many people are not even aware and all that is needed is for someone to tell them and change will happen and when someone who is taught young learns to eat properly and how to eat properly they can help the system evolve.

Well that's hypocritical and it proves the whole premise of Vita's movement. The reason people "just don't care about that stuff" is because they do not know of anything better. His actions show people another side of life.

I think what Vita is doing is very beneficial to his community socially, economically, and environmentally. The social aspect of this brings people together to learn to do better for their community, but in a way that keeps them interested and keeps a main goal in mind: success. Economically, growing the foods is a lot less expensive than buying manufactured goods and depending on fast food, etc. This system/motivation is good environmentally because it helps the air so people can breathe better and live longer. In my community, it would take a lot of people, commitment, and determination to actually make a change in a community with a lot of youth. If this movement were to have happened in my community, it would be very beneficial as far as bringing people together and growing to make the community better.

Ietef Vita is doing an excellent thing for the community by providing solutions for multiple issues seen in today's society. To have a similar movement in my community would take an effort from a large portion of the community. The idea would have to brought to the city council with all of the small details worked out. Some of the components of the project that would need revision are: the need of a budget along with proper equipment and adequate volunteers. Prior research as to the sprouting of certain greens would need to be acquired as well. Meetings are also a must if the project were to run smoothly within my community. There are many aspects that need to be taken into perspective before commencing such a large, grand project.

I commend Ietef Vita for the wonderful changes that he personally sought out in order to benefit his community. No one asked or forced him to do anything, but the fact that he did it to help youths stay out of trouble and change their lifestyle to progress as the “gangsters of the garden”. I personally think that pushing for a healthier lifestyle and state of mind. Perhaps there could be a course or volunteers that have accomplished total bliss that would be willing to show everyone else the path. The outcome of a movement like this would be epic because the communities would find themselves united for a great cause. It would be a difficult to arrange it all but it could be possible if many people were up for it.

He is doing small work but it's progressing little by little and the proof of what he says is right you are what you eat. You can't eat junk food and expect to feel better and have energy . Ietef vita is doing an amazing job at his community and the way he likes to help young people how to grow food and sell it. This opportunity helps the community to have some fresh food where is done with your own work, maintaining organic food in his community help them to stay healthy. To make the same movement in mine community it would take some commitment, and responsibility to start something new that will help with my health and also if i can help others with it so why not do it? The implication of this happening in my community is that it may take some time but at the end we will have something back for our benefit. Another thing is that I could not do all the work by myself and i will need commitment of the community to do it as a team and also have some good place to start small but become big, and if we can take some of those organic foods to places where they need it.

letef is killing 2 birds with 1 stones , helping the environment out while keep youths out the street and showing them the value of food and helping the community out. I agree with your standpoint, but not fully. I agree our generation is very odd, but we are more misunderstood more than anything. You basically categorized millions of teens with one label that is not fitting. Even though people do bring bad trends it would be a better idea to play on some positive words instead of dishing out negative ones that we are addressed with daily. Maybe you're not that type of person, but a lot of teens work hard for what they have whether you know of someone or not.

I disagree Pablo. I don't think a few fruits and veggies grown in the hood will ultimately do much to change the state of the ghetto, so much as provide food for the homeless that inhabit it. Realistically every negative thing from gang violence and drug dealing to unhealthy food is promoted virtually everywhere through media, pop culture, and the youth's immediate community. Although Ietef is trying to combat this problem, his voice is minuscule compared huge voices promoting these negative lifestyles to the youth. The bad has outweighs the good tenfold. While the concept Ietef is trying to convey to the viewer is ideal, I'm afraid that's all it might ever be -- an ideal concept.

What Ietef Vita is doing in inspiring to me because he is demonstrating that a person can have more than one hobby that can ultimately create change in a community. Inspiration and motivation is what Ietef Vitas actions speak to me. Why? Well because he used his own story to portray this natural lifestyle, influencing younger generations to believe that just because a liquor store is around the corner it does not mean you will be there and follow the wrong path. For this movement to occur in my community I believe that every individual would have to evaluate their lifestyle in order to gain a new perspective. One person can begin to make change but a community can go beyond that and help change the lives of more than a person. The physical and emotional involvement of different minds with the same motivation and purpose would create an enormous change in the community.

Ms. Valdez, you have a major point, in order for people to really work together and take this seriously, they first have to come to a consensus of everything that is wrong in the community. Only after they do this will the change be successful, because they will be focused on one goal which is to change for the better. This way people can help the young stay out of trouble and have something more productive to do.

Letef Vita is inspiring change within the 21st century generation. He promotes healthy growing, eating, and living by utilizing pop culture to make the idea of greenness appealing. If something similar were implemented in to my community, it would take a special group of people to get it off the ground, and an even more special group to keep it going. Young people do not have the patience to grow into the future but rather demand it in increments that are convenient to them. To implement such a program in urban communities would mean a change in the mentalities of the young people in those communities. This seems unfeasible as youth these days are so stubborn. However,m I personally would like to see a green revolution in my peers.

A. Dewberry 4
2/3/2017 09:35:16 pm

Ietef Vita is doing a great thing in his community by reversing today's mainstream hip hop into a positive life by being healthy and fresh. He will still use phrases like "keeping it gangsta" or "they the best on the east side" to connect to the youth. When using phrases like that he is pulling in the younger crowd and taking them away from the trouble on streets. For this to happen in my community there would have someone who is influential and popular to gather a hard working and dedicated crowd. The end result of something happening like this in my community would be a positive living environment. The children of the community will have something to do so they won't go out starting trouble just because they are bored. I personally think that it would build character; with strong character comes strong academics; and with strong academics it would raise the city of Lancaster to a higher standard.

J. Vela 4th
2/6/2017 10:52:12 pm

Do you think, Ms. Dewberry, that Lancaster's role model could be anyone? If we consider Vita's circumstances, he was able to connect with the youth because he was exposed to the same violent environment. Furthermore, his career as a musician was essential for him to deliver his message to a humongous audience. Nonetheless, while anyone can become a role model, their rates of progress will differ.

D.Moseley-1st pd
2/3/2017 10:50:53 pm

What Ietef Vita is doing is motivation to me that I can not only do what ever I put my mind to, but that I can open minds to new fresh innovations. The entire concept soothes my mind from the heartache from the cruelty in this world. It puts my mind at ease to know that there are still individuals out there trying to make a difference and not just going with the flow of the ever changing world. In my community, people are always willing to be apart and would just about give their shirt off their back for the next person. Individuals just need details and a dependable source so that they know they are actually impacting someone's life and their work is not in vain. In order for this movement to take place, there would need to be serious advertising through outputs such as social media, posters, and radio broadcast. After word gets out there would need to be community meetings as well as city council meetings to see what resources are needed and how we can get as many people involved in developing a new system in our community. Organization is key. Implementing this type of system will connect and integrate different generations, genders, cultures, and different types of people. We hold our own future in the palm of our hand so we should be feeding our souls with positivity.

J. Mabrie - 7th

What Ietef is doing is inspiring. Choosing to be selfless and promote a life of health and positivity to the youth through growing a garden, and teaching as opposed to just focusing on yourself is always something to look up to. For something like this to happen in my community it would take communal motivation. We would have to want to do something like this. We would all have to be on the same page. Now in the unlikely event that this did happen in a place like Oak Cliff the crime rate would most likely plummet.

M.Rowe-3rd

I think he is doing a good deed with and for his community. Growing gardens has helped them stay away from processed foods and unhealthy snacks people put in their bodies. J.Bonilla-1st Pd
2/3/2017 11:59:06 pm

The use of gardening doesn't necessarily mean that the consumers will not eat processed foods. Gardening is only the start of such movements. In order for a project like this to work everyone does have to come together and agree.

J.Bonilla-1st
2/3/2017 11:56:00 pm

letef Vita is helping the community get involved in the movement of eating correctly and stepping away from the processed unhealthy food. The way he teaches his audience is in a way where they can all be involved. In society it is known to eat unhealthy because of the convenience, it's cheaper, faster, and easily accessible. To make a movement similar to letef Vita, those people in the community would have to break away from the mindset of eating incorrectly. Projects could also be implemented so those who do not believe in a healthier lifestyle, could see why chose it. The outcome of such movements will improve people's health, less money will be spent and the environment would improve.

S. Mendez 4th

What Ietef Vita is doing is inspiring and encouraging. He has taken his own life story and turned it into an educational matter. He is helping young people in his community by encouraging them to have a better lifestyle. From "gangs to gardens" he is teaching children that just because they are surrounded by negative lifestyles such as liquor stores, juvenile centers, drugs on the streets, etc. it does not have to be their life. They can do whatever they chose to, and live a healthy lifestyle as well. To implement this type of help in my community, people will have to stop and evaluate themselves. They have to realize everything that is wrong not only in their life but in society in general. After this is done we can all come together to advertise a better life. Create programs with gardening, or sports, or art, in order to keep children away from drugs and alcohol and into something productive and beneficial.

I think it would take not just me but the people that I hang around to get this accomplished. with the connections I have with big named people in my community, I think it would be a work in progress but with hard work and dedication I believe it could get done. it would also take the community as a whole to want to do this and make this a successful project.

letef Vita has successfully advertised and implemented a healthy and nutritional lifestyle among a community of youth concerned only with "being gangsta." The initiative would be easy to reproduce here in Lancaster. However, a solution would have to be found to counteract the long distance among the people within our community. Like in the musician's community, Lancaster has a high demand of chips and soda compared to fruits and vegetables. Ironically, Lancaster is known for being an agricultural city! If children would garden at earlier ages, they would realize the higher value of organic food versus artificial waste.

Mr.Vita has inspired me with the excellent work that he does in his community. From his motivation there came a program that could teach this generation patience , hard work and responsibilities.I would start a garden not as a distraction ,but as a means to a new healthy way of living. It could change my lifestyle, eating habits, and me consuming more organic and natural products that I've produced. We are in a generation that is used to getting things handed to them. Therefore, we necessarily wouldn't take the time out of our day to start a garden. We would rather take the easy way out and go to the store. We have the potential to do something healthy and helpful in the community.
