Books vs Streets

Having book smarts is better than having street smarts. Write it out.

Females/Female Identifying: what would you do if a guy asked you on a date, and when you got there, he told you not to exceed a certain dollar amount?

Males/Male Identifying: do you think it is reasonable to ask a girl on a date then give her a budget?

Deion, Deion, Deion...Again?

Respond to the following: There was a lot of controversy surrounding Deion Sanders when he left Jackson State to go to Colorado as head football coach:

His alma mater, Florida State, refused to hire him to coach.
Jackson State felt betrayed when he left and went to Colorado.
He brought 86/106 players to a D1 school from HBCUs.
Two of his sons play on the team.
He brought his own coaching staff.
Colorado's coaching staff quit rather than work with him.

Despite all these controversies, the victory against TCU indicates that Sanders' unconventional methods can lead to results on the field. But is favoritism, nepotism, untrustworthiness, disloyalty, and poor ethics justifiable just to get a win? Why or Why not?

Mixed Ink

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.
