I would rather lose my sight. To me memories are the key point of life. Making high school, college, and middle school memories. Even if they're embarassing or not the best decisions. They make us enjoy the key points of our lives. We hold onto those moments until we get old. To tell our children or friends those important memories we made. Also, if you made a memory with a friend and you guys are still friends when you get older. You can have a laugh or two about that memory you made together. Losing my sight sounds bad, but at least I still have the memories and the people I love around me to help me stay strong even when things get tough.

K Romero 2A
4/3/2023 09:49:23 pm

i agree, memories can also allow us to remember our loved ones and if we lose eye sight they can help us get through it. memories may be embarrassing but they do make us who we are and later we can tell our children to help them keep our story alive.

I agree, I feel that memories build-up our identity, and bonds with our relationships. Memories are important they help us reflect on our actions, and the things we say. They help us plan our future as well, so no I would not want to lose my memories.

In my opinion, I would agree with you because even when you lose your memories, you still hold onto them until you're older. You would just have to think of the good time you've had with family and friends. If you just relive those moments just for a second, you should give it all you got.

ireuna 6b
4/5/2023 11:24:38 am

i would agree once again because memories are important to everyone if you lose your memories you always can go into your phone or tell your kids about old memories you would just have to think of the good time you've with family and friends

Leonardo Guzman 1A
4/5/2023 10:23:56 am

Strongly agreed, I can say that our good memories help us feel happy all the time, as we recall the great experiences. Even the bad memories as well, because they help us learn from our mistakes, and mistakes make us stronger. Mostly the love we recieve from our family, it would be tragic for your family to notice you've completely forgotten about them.

M.Banks 6B
4/5/2023 02:54:05 pm

I would have to agree, but disagree with this comment because both of the options are bad, but why not pick the better one losing your memory is not the worst thing that could happen to you, but losing your site is because they say once you lose your site you forget everything you’ve ever known it’s like being reborn again And losing your memory is the same exact thing so either way it goes both of these options suck, but would you rather not see for the rest of your life or be able to see and create new memories

Arrianah Bates
4/6/2023 10:31:11 am

I agree to lose my eye sight instead of my memories because if you loose your eye sight you can get glasses or contacts. Memories are a key to happiness and you can member your love ones

I would rather lose my sight instead of memories. I think losing my memory would be scarier, but losing your sight and memory has the same consequences such as having to learn where everything is blind or relearning the whole way of life again. I would still choose sight loss just so I can continue cherishing the good memories I've made. Losing a sense may be hard but it is worth saving the moments you would never think about giving up! your memories may be the thing that drives and motivates you, and may form you to become your best self.

K Romero 2A
4/3/2023 09:43:33 pm

i agree. losing memories might have the same consequences of losing eye sight but if you already have memories unless you move or go to a new place you can just go based off of those and it would not be that bad.

Arrianah Bates 6B
4/6/2023 10:36:07 am

I disagree because you can get glasses or contacts to see but at the same time you are right about the memories because you can gain your memories back but it's going to take a while. Its better off to lose your eye sight and keep your memory

c moore 6b
4/3/2023 05:00:11 pm

i would rather lose my memories then to lose my eye sight becuase loseing your eye sight can make it a lot harder to be able to do different things and when you lose your memories it can take time for you to get them all back and i don't want to forget the pepole that are in my life and my family because when you lose something it takes time to get all the information you need to come back to you.

Jeremiah
4/4/2023 12:27:19 pm

I agree because eye sight has a more important aspect on life than memories do, it also creates memories too. when you think about it you can gain new memories but can't gain eyes sight back.

G. Calderon Batista 2A

it would be way harder to go through life with the loss of eye sight.

K Romero 2A
4/3/2023 09:39:20 pm

I would rather lose my sight. memories are what makes a person a person. personally if i lose memory of all the mistakes and all the people who did me wrong i would be mad at myself. lets say memories get wiped out every morning, you wake up and forget what happened with that one certain person yesterday so you start talking to them again and it just becomes a toxic cycle you cant escape. losing sight might take away being able to see all things beautiful like sunsets and sunrise or looking at your favorite people everyday but would you rather hang out with the same toxic people everyday and not escape that cycle because of your memory loss or lose not being able to see your favorite people and colors. also imagine if you cant see, most of the time it means no homework

Jeremiah Bryant
4/4/2023 12:25:23 pm

I disagree because in life memories are made and forgotten and more of them can be made.

i agree in life we forget memories we had made but we also make more memories on the way though are life.

Leonardo Guzman 1A
4/5/2023 10:25:24 am

I can agree with this, but mostly disagree. Of course we may forget some memories, but most of them are key, we remember the good times, and they make us happy. We remember the bad times, we learn from all of our mistakes.Without them, what would make us happy? And how would we learn from mistakes?

S Griffin 3A link
4/4/2023 01:52:47 pm

In my opinion, I would agree with you because losing memories is a big part of your lifestyle in which you won't be able to see again. It would be tragic for people to not be able to look at anyone or see what food looks like. Both have a significant meaning of the eye moving in a functional way, which leads to your memory.

S.Samuels
4/5/2023 01:23:05 pm

I agree your memories make you who you are today. But there have been a ton of situations where situations have permanently altered my mindset forever...

R Brown 7B
4/5/2023 02:22:34 pm

I can see where you're coming from, but if you were to lose your memories you could always make new better ones. On the other hand, a person losing their sight would make them feel more disconnected with the world. Also, If you lose your sight you wouldn't be able to see people and colors anyway.

Noc (Katelyn) Sears 2A
4/5/2023 05:11:39 pm

I was thinking the same thing. It would become a toxic cycle of doing the same thing and making the same memories everyday. Life is to be lived not a routine.

Zariya B. 1A
4/4/2023 09:21:26 am

I would rather lose my sight because my family would help me through it, and I could soon enough be a pro of moving around on my own. Being blind could boost my memory, and allow me to remember details, sensory, etc.

Tindle. A 7B
4/4/2023 01:26:05 pm

I feel like people just choose lose my sight, because they feel like its like the moral thing to choose if that makes sense. Like they want to pick not to lose their memories for all these warm nice reasons, but forget how tragic it would be to go from having vision your whole life to not. Its not just as easy as family helping you through it, its so much more that goes into being blind.

M.Banks 6B
4/5/2023 03:01:00 pm

This is what I like. I agree with this comment because people don’t understand the reality of losing their sight like you can’t see anything at all. The world is blurry and pitch black at least losing your memory. You’re able to go see things again get to meet new people that has been in your same predicament and make a friend or if you had a bad life before you lost your memory you could start all over and make a new life for yourself. That you’re the best version you’ve ever been.

C Valdez 6B
4/6/2023 11:35:31 am

Exactly some people haven't considered how many opportunities they'd lose from being blind. I feel like the warm memories you had won't matter as much if you aren't even able to even take care of yourself properly anymore and have to deal with blindness the rest of your life. People should choose the more selfish choice because sticking to those warm memories isn't as important when you'd have to deal with being blind the rest of your life.

Kaydin L 3A
4/4/2023 02:01:18 pm

Exactly, What if you chose to lose your memory rather than your sight. You won't even have any memory of ever having a family. No memory of your friends. No memory of even having a bet. You'll just be a stranger to everyone you once knew.

G. Castaneda 2A
4/6/2023 11:43:59 pm

Losing your sight could be tough, it could never replace the memories you have. You could always have someone or something to help you out if you are without sight but you could never get your memories back. Losing your sight could get your other senses stronger and more easier to use.

Jeremiah Bryant
4/4/2023 12:22:12 pm

I would rather lose my memory because in life memories are always made and at my age i haven't experienced anything extreme or super important, i can always try and remember the important things. I always have a full life ahead of me with better memories to obtain as well.

Tindle. A 7B
4/4/2023 12:37:47 pm

Exactly, I feel like I would be able to look at pictures and things, and get a feel of the memories I've lost. I would also be able to make ne memories with my eyes, blind people go through so much, and life is very different for them.Being blind after being able to see is a very extreme change

Kaydin L 3A
4/4/2023 02:04:25 pm

Okay, but saying that, you're choosing to forget about all the interactions and relationships you made. And, to lose memory of having a family too. People honestly, don't understand how important memories really are. Like, all the stuff that you know like those important life lessons you've got to learn, is built off memory.

Tindle. A 7B
4/5/2023 09:08:29 am

I see the point you're trying to make Kaydin, but the point is not landing. Like i've said before, I feel like people pick not to lose their memory because all these so called moral reasons, and act as if being blind is not a struggle. People that think the same way as you keep acting as if you cant make new memories, and as if memories don't already get forgotton. I suggest you look up the challenges of being blind. You struggle with access to information, overly helpful individuals, societal stigma, because if you dont know the world is suited for the sighted. Finding and keeping a job and I could go on, which says enough in it's self.

J.Thomas 3a
4/4/2023 02:08:58 pm

I agree with this response also. Im still very young with lots of life to live and many things to experience. So losing childhood memories that I can barley remember anyways really wouldn't make a difference.

K Jacinto 6b
4/7/2023 11:47:18 pm

I think I’ve changed my mind bcs we’re still young a lots of memories could still be made.

Tindle. A 7B
4/4/2023 12:34:42 pm

Even though this might not be a favorite choice, I would choose to lose my memories. I say memories for many reasons, one being I need my vision, I just feel like I would not be comfortable in life without it, and its every essential for me. People lose there memories alot, like after fatal car crashes or many other things, and as you get older you can lose your memory, so its kind of bound to happen. I take many pictures, and so does my family, so they would be able to tell me things, as well as my friends. With a memory loss, I would be able to forget all the bad memories I have, and I would be able to make new memories with my eyes.

J.Thomas 3a
4/4/2023 02:07:03 pm

I agree with this response, because like I said in my response for some people it would be great that they lost their memory especially the bad ones. It would give them a chance to have a clean slate.

R Brown 7B
4/5/2023 02:18:00 pm

What you're discussing is similar to my reasoning of why I would choose to lose my memories. Losing my sight would make me more of a burden then if I were to lose my memories.

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 2A
4/5/2023 05:17:10 pm

I see your way of thinking. I still choose to lose my memories. I do think people lose their memories a lot as we get older and we have accidents. Sight is a big deal in life to us people who already have it. But you can live without it. It's gonna be hard, but we can manage. Memories van be lived without, but memories to me are everything in life.

C Valdez 6B
4/6/2023 11:48:53 am

I agree, choosing to forget your memories is a better choice. Your vision is really important in life and not being able to see would be awful. Losing your vision because you want to keep the memories you had with friends and family is a horrible decision because you'd have to deal with the poor mental health problems blind people go through and act like they could live life normally without vision.

S Griffin 3A link
4/4/2023 01:10:39 pm

I would rather lose my sight rather than lose my memories because they are what makes a person unique in their own way. I think losing my memory would be very terrifying because you would have to learn how to do things or talk to people. I would still choose to lose my sight, just so that I can continue cherishing the good memories I've made. Losing a sense may be hard but it is worth saving the moments you have in your life, like making friends or getting in a relationship. Our memories are what drives us to be a better person we know we are.

K Lake 3A
4/4/2023 01:58:27 pm

I would rather lose my sight rather than lose my memory. Its just that all our relationships and good times are built out of memory. Like, you're dating that person because of the memories y'all had based off getting together prior. At least, when I lose sight of my eyes, I can remember how it felt to see stuff and be amazed or disgusted by what I saw. But, everything is built from memory.

J.Thomas 3a
4/4/2023 02:04:31 pm

I would rather lose my memories. I feel like this because, while I did have a pretty good childhood. My teenage years were a very bad experience. There are a lot of regrets that I have, that still creep in my mind to this day. Those are the memories that I wouldn't mind forgetting.

H.harper 6B

Your not gonna remember who your friends are and you wont remember who family is and that's something that will make life crash and burn down to the floor.Even though your able to make more memories, your not gonna be able to know who to make them with if you dont remeber the people that love and care for you.

I would rather lose my sight than my memories, doing something like that would be like resetting hard worked game data. My memories are very valuable to my life, even the bad ones, I wouldn't want them all to go away at once. I'd never go as far as to forget the good times, the nostalgia, everything else I've always experienced in my life. That's why I'd rather lose my sight, and I know others would say the same for their memories. Although, no sight would mean I'd have to most likely quit my art career, but it's a good choice if I don't have to lose these memories.

I would rather completely lose my memory than my sight. I love seeing all the different tropical islands and different cultures and their food and traditions. I want to be able to see all those things and more through my own eyes rather than just on Instagram. Losing my eyesight would take all that away for me... New memories can always be made and i'm not really going to lie it's a lot of memories that I would rather forget anyways.

I would much rather lose my memories then lose my sight. If I were to lose my sight, my quality of life would completely change. I would take a huge hit on my mental health and I would have to face numerous obstacles. Also people that have lost their sight typically suffer with self-isolation, depression, fear, and anxiety. On the other hand, losing my memories, I obviously wouldn't remember anything, but I could still make more new memories. Along with experiencing new things as well. Yes, both have a tremendous amount of disadvantages, but to me losing my sight would be worse than losing my memories.

If I had to choose i would rather lose my sight than my memories because, memories are precious and beautiful moments we get to experience and live throughout our life. Without them we wouldnt be who we are today. You can always work on your other senses when you lose your sight but your memory cant come back its more tragic

Yes I agree, memories are precious and beautiful moments we live throughout life. Memories are like treasure to me they're very precious and something I hold on to and most likely everyone else.

C. Torres 1A

I agree because you have to protect your memories because they are precious. Without your memories you would not be who you are today. Its true memories are a big part of our lives.

R. Lynch 3A
4/6/2023 11:21:12 am

Yes I agree; you cannot experience any of your memories again which makes them extremely valuable. There's also tons of evidence that proves that blind people can function normally by exercising other senses.

Khamari Caldwell 1A
4/6/2023 01:40:09 pm

I agree because most memories are the greatest experiences of your life. Losing them is basically you losing yourself in life.

Desiree Ware 3A
4/6/2023 10:22:58 am

I would rather lose my sight because I cherish my memories, no matter if they're embarrassing or hurtful That makes me who I am today. And my sight can be restored eventually, I assume. Memories are a big part of all of us and something we hold dear to our hearts everyday we live.

C. Torres 1A
4/6/2023 10:38:13 am

I agree because you need to protect your memories. It is true that your sight could also be restored. Its true memories are a big part of our lives.

R. Lynch 3A
4/6/2023 11:18:13 am

I agree. The bonds that you've built with others and the memories that you have created are priceless. Although restoring your eyesight sort of removes the point of this question.

J.pearl 2A
4/6/2023 02:49:18 pm

I disagree if you lose your sight you can't even use the bathroom by yourself.

A Giles 2A
4/7/2023 10:41:52 pm

I completely agree with you because, memories are something that define who we are as a person and basically if you lose your memories, you can become a completely different person. People might not be with you anymore because who you changed to.

C. Torres 1A
4/6/2023 10:37:01 am

I would rather lose my sight rather than my memories. I would lose my sight rather than my memories because memories good or bad make you who you are today. And losing your sight is not all bad because although you are limited you can still live your life knowing you've experienced great things.

D. Costilla 5B
4/7/2023 10:03:49 pm

I agree with you, we may still be limited in senses, but not in memories. In my opinion, memories are very important because they are the core to one's humanity if that makes sense. Memories make me my own person. And I also tend to value that.

Arrianah Bates 6b
4/6/2023 10:38:51 am

I would rather lose my eye sight than to lose my memory, because you can get glasses or contacts to see. If you lose your memory that's like saying you forgot what you did in life because remembering what you did in life is memory

F. Maltos 3A
4/7/2023 06:55:42 pm

I agree with you because it’s true that loosing your memory will mean that you forgot what you did in life and that’s something important to have as a human since it’s all about the good and bad memories you make until you leave this world.

C Valdez 6B
4/6/2023 11:12:46 am

I would rather lose my memories because I wouldn't choose vision over memories at a young age. I think losing your vision would be worse on yourself in the long run and losing your vision would mean you'd have to deal with having to rely on people and lose access to so many things and you'd be pitied by your friends and family for losing your sight. Losing your memories is a more selfish option but I think it's the best decision because you can still make better memories, and learn enough until you are able to do what you used to do. I'd only consider loosing my sight if I was too old to care about sight over memories.

J. Castillo 3A
4/6/2023 02:46:17 pm

Yes, it wouldn't be the same, you would need the help of other and wouldn't be able to see, something you used to be able to do. We would still be able to make new memories as we live life.

J.Pearl 2A
4/6/2023 02:48:24 pm

I agree losing your sight is not very good in the long run.

Alexia Ruiz 1A
4/6/2023 05:39:40 pm

I'd choose losing memories too. I do disagree with you saying you'd have to rely on people 24/7 though. There are a lot of independent blind people that can live life on their own they just have to adjust or learn it.

R. Lynch 3A
4/6/2023 11:15:22 am

I would rather lose my eye sight because the memories that I've built up to this moment are irreplaceable. My memories are also what has turned me into the person that I am today. Additionally, there are other senses in my body that I can build so I don't have to rely on my eyesight.

D. Costilla 5B
4/7/2023 10:01:00 pm

I agree with you, I would also rather lose my sight. Memories are more valuable in my opinion, they are what makes us, us. And I also agree with you on the fact that we can also build other senses in our body.

E. Adame 2A
4/6/2023 11:54:19 am

Losing sight would be my option. It's kinda weird to think about because I actually could've been blind but I'm grateful I'm not. My memories are too precious to me and it has built my personality. Not all of my memories are pleasant, but they are still in me and I can improve from them. I want to be able to look back in the future and see how far I've come and to be able to laugh upon it.

A. Hernandez 5B
4/6/2023 12:26:10 pm

I would rather lose my memory because if you still have your eye sight you can make more. Being able to see allows you to still enjoy life to the fullest. If you were to have no vision you wont be able to enjoy life compared to having vision you can make new memories.

J. castillo 3A
4/6/2023 02:43:28 pm

I can agree with you because we will still be able to make new memories even though it would make us lose some of our old ones.

J blackmon 2A
4/6/2023 10:36:28 pm

i'm sure people who are blind still enjoy life as much as they can we are just blessed to be able to see the life we are in.

Khamari Caldwell 1A
4/6/2023 01:37:49 pm

I would rather lose my sight. I have so many memories so if I forget those then my life is over honestly. Losing my sight is really not that bad if you think about it. I'm already halfway blind because I wear glasses so me not being able to see anymore wouldn't be a problem.

Alexia Ruiz 1A
4/6/2023 05:33:50 pm

I understand your thought process but I don't think you were right with the last part. All you need to do to see clearly is put on your glasses, if you lost your sight putting them on wouldn't help. You would have to relearn how to do everything.

A Giles 2A
4/7/2023 10:32:02 pm

I get where you are coming from, but it is the exact same thing when losing your memories too, you would have to re learn everything but worse because you have no memory of doing so.

J. Castillo 3A
4/6/2023 02:42:12 pm

If I have to decide between these two options I would have to go with losing my memories, I could lose some memorable memories I've had but I would also have the chance to make new memories without having to lose my eyesight, losing your sight wouldn't be the same and you wouldn't be able to see the new memories you've made. Both of these have their cons and pros but I would rather lose my memories.

J blackmon 2A
4/6/2023 10:34:46 pm

i agree being able to make new memories would be good.

J.Pearl 2A
4/6/2023 02:47:43 pm

I would rather lose my memories because I would hate to lose my sight one day because you can't see nothing nor function without somebody helping you. Also I can make new memories with new people or possibly remember my old memories.

Alexia Ruiz 1A
4/6/2023 05:30:46 pm

I personally would rather lose my memories because depending on the severity of what gave you the memory loss, there's a chance you'll get them back. Losing my sight would be such a devastating loss. I love watching movies, shows, and music videos. I also love art, making it and looking at it. Even if i did get my sight back the time without it would be so miserable.

R. Brown 3A
4/7/2023 05:42:17 pm

I ´ m glad that there are some people with a brain here. The world is big, and there is so much to see and enjoy. Your memories might come back but your eyes might never recover.

Pina 7B

You won’t be able to do the things you would normally do without your eyesight.

J blackmon 2A
4/6/2023 10:00:03 pm

I think i would rather lose my memories. I tend to forget a lot of things anyway so i don't think it would bother me that much. There's plenty of things in life so see with your eyes and i don't think i'd be able to handle losing that.

C.lott 2A
4/7/2023 09:25:48 pm

I agree, there's really not a point in having a memory if all that happens is you forget things anyway. People soemtimes can have that memory part, but if you cant see anything how are suppose to deal with the fact that you cant read or get into something tha might matters alot to you. I judt dont think memory would be good for the future due to all the changes that are happening within the worl.

G. Castaneda 2A
4/6/2023 11:34:06 pm

I would rather lose my sight because I would have someone or something to guide me. You will always have memories of the good times and the bad while still remembering the things that you had the opportunity to do. Having memories are things that push you to be your best self and to motivate you to accomplish your dreams. It would be better to lose your sight then your memories because you will never be able to get your memories back.

D Sparks 1A
4/7/2023 10:26:51 pm

I don’t believe good or bad memories or better than being able to see everyday. Most people take our 5 senses for granted, and without one of our 5 senses people that had them for so long wouldn’t know what to do. Memories don’t last forever, but it’s a good chance your eyesight does.

F. Maltos 3A
4/7/2023 02:01:43 pm

Me personally, I would rather loose my sight because there is many ways to still live without your eyesight. Memories are important in our lives because when we are older we can always think back to all the good and bad memories that we made. Having good memories makes us proud of what we accomplished in the past even though we won’t think much about the bad memories but life is life and we are humans.

R. Brown 3A
4/7/2023 05:24:34 pm

nah man, without your sight you will never see the sun again. Do you not like what you see or something? If you lose your memories your family can just make new ones with you.

R. Brown 3A
4/7/2023 05:34:45 pm

I rather lose my memories. I like the bright sun, green grass, full moon, and the blue sky, so I can ´ t lose my ability to see the world. Making new memories is very easy, but seeing when blind is very hard.

M Johnson 5B
4/7/2023 07:51:52 pm

I'd rather lose my ability to see. I have many memories that I'd like to keep, and I can still used my other senses to make images in my head. I want to be able to remember everything in my life with details.

C.lott 2A
4/7/2023 09:17:45 pm

I disagree, the ability to see is key to even remember anything. I feel like once youve seen or have been introduced to it thats all you need. Some people may thin thatg memory matters it does but without the ability to sight see is also effecting the brain.

C.lott 2A
4/7/2023 09:11:13 pm

I would rather lose the ability to memorize things. The reason why is because without being able to see things in a visual perspective you wouldn't be able to remeber anything. Also, our brain processes most things through sight.

D Sparks 1A
4/7/2023 10:24:02 pm

Good reasoning and evidence. I actually thought the same thing because all memories trigger with the use of one of the 5 senses. Losing one of those sense would also cause yu to lose a way to remember things.

D.Costilla 5B
4/7/2023 09:58:36 pm

I would rather lose my sight. Because, that way I'll still have my current memories. In my opinion, one's memories are more valuable and more important than once eyesight. Yeah, it'll suck not having my eyesight anymore but at least I'll still know myself.

D Sparks 1A
4/7/2023 10:21:22 pm

I would rather lose my memories. Memories can always be made and actually be easily created. My eyesight is a one of a kind thing that I use everyday because it is essential to life. You can’t get a new eyesight, but you can always make new memories.

A Giles 2A
4/7/2023 10:27:28 pm

I would rather lose my sight, because memories are key to living in life. When you lose your memories your life resets and you have no clue on what is happening, but you are not a baby you are a grown up. Being a grown up and having no memories because you have no clue on what is going on around you. Losing sight, it might be sad, but you have your memories to keep you going to know how great life really is.

Pina 7B
4/7/2023 11:47:29 pm

I would rather lose my memories, because I’ll still be able to see and make new memories. If I were to lose my sight it would be hard for me to adjust to my new lifestyle. It will be harder to go on through life without being able to see what is happening around me. Without being able to see my family and friends accomplish things in life.

K Jacinto 6b
4/7/2023 11:50:07 pm

I would rather lose my memories bcs, then without vision I can’t make any more memories, because I wouldn’t be able to see anything. So with a fresh new start of memories that can be made I can experience and learn so much. I’m 16 so there’s not much I’m losing out of besides my entire childhood lol, but both have their goods and bad.

G. Calderon Batista 2A
4/7/2023 11:50:35 pm

I would rather lose my eyesight because memories are a core part of life and theres certain memories who make you who you are. you could always use brail to get through life. also if you lost your sight all your other senses would be heightened. going through life with out no recollection of what happened before would be hard bc its like a reset button which forces you to start over.
