Yes but I think that men and women can like a different product from there likely. And they like to try some new products and men do gaming, buying some Jordans or Nikes.

i agree with this because growing up our parents and/or social media taught us that those things we should have when we have money. if that make sense

I think its a little more deeper than that because it looks like they are being held bondage by many different things.

12/1/2023 02:44:43 pm

I can understand why you said that but why do you feel as though they overcame something? Because how I think of it society is full of kids just focused on video games and fashion trends. It's basically taking a hold on them. Backtracking from whatever is it their struggling from.

The context of the image above is about how men and women are enslaved by the more materialistic than anything else

i agree because that's all we are surrounded by all the rich people with bags and shoes and cars we thrive and live to be able to afford all of it and sometimes people go to the extreme.

C Da Silva 1A
11/30/2023 01:10:12 pm

I also think that the image shows how materialistic some people can be and how it affects their lives. Some people are willing to go to the extreme just to have some of those things and it cause unhealthy habits.

Johnson M 2 1A

This image is a way of showing how we are automatically expecting what both men and women like and how they need to think, feel, and do with their lives. There is so much assumption about it both, men should be athletic and like masculine things, while women should have nice things and be perfect. There is too much assumptions about how men and women should act and live. Women don't have to be be materialistic and men don't always have to like masculine things. Everyone should be their own person and not be expected to do or like what everyone expects them to like or do.

lee. J A1
11/28/2023 04:13:36 pm

That image perfectly captures the societal expectations and assumptions placed on both men and women. it's unfair that there are these predetermined notions of how each gender should think, feel, and live their lives. Everyone should have the freedom to be their authentic selves without conforming to these stereotype.

N rainey 1A

I feel like this image depicts how the government uses consumerism to take control of us and our finances. We can see that these two individuals are handcuffed to some sort of object. We can also see that they are stamped by different brands; brands that they spend on differently. With consumerism, a certain amount goes towards government funds. Finally, they are both facing a building that looks similar to the White house.

D.Mims
11/29/2023 08:57:25 am

i think it do have something to do with the government

Sergio Morales link
11/29/2023 01:20:39 pm

Sergio Morales-3A-
It's too bad that the people who do realize this is going on, never succeed in spreading the message. Which in turn does not cause an uprising of people to go against the government, WHICH then leads us to not say anything. We'd only dare to mention it on a sketchy website that our teacher somehow made very well.
This goes for everything else as well. Like WW3 controversy, and controversies that are similar.

11/28/2023 04:19:20 pm

This reflects societal expectations and assumptions placed on both men and women, rather than a specific political, economic, or social context.it highlights the Broader issue of gender stereotype and the pressure to conform to certain norms.

J. Kinard (4A)
12/1/2023 02:44:25 pm

Agreed. Many people look down on others who don't have popular or "worthy" brands of product, such as Nike shoes, the PS5, etc. Materialistic culture has been so influential on us that it's become a large part of American culture as a whole.

From what I see the picture of a black men and women with products and brands like shoes in purse and hoop earrings, video games. So many people that men have games and women have purses, shoes, and clothing from getting their hair done. Even the men hair cut and shoes and clothes.maybe telling them men and women don’t have to like what men do or women supposed to do for their gender. And it’s okay from them to be different then others from what they like.

What i get from the picture is, what our generation or any generation expects for women who want all the designer bags and fast cars and men want the nicest Jordan and designer clothes and shoes. or even that people think having thoses things in life or important as to why they are reaching for the bag and game with the brands burned into there backs because thats all they know

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 8B

Yes I agree, its like idealized for men and women to be into those things like almost being brainwashed.

J. Kinard (4A)
11/29/2023 10:28:26 am

Our current culture is more materialistic than ever. TikTok stars show off their clothes, gaming systems, advanced machinery, and more. Fast fashion is the new trend, with people buying newer and newer things, sometimes as they come out. To some, a large part of who they are equates to what brands they have to boast about to others, influencing more and more to feel and act the same. It's a vicious cycle.

B Jasso 6B
11/30/2023 04:15:33 pm

I agree with you. Now a days it seems like people just care about materialistic things, that being clothes, shoes, purses, gaming systems, and just things that make them stand out from others, and they don't really see that there's more to life than just material things/.

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 8B

I agree, We all live in a materialistic society where the majority of people is more concerned with what it has than who we are. There is too much emphasis today on the brand of clothes you are wearing, what car you are driving and what you have in general.

I agree because the world is very materialistic now a days. Everyone is worried about what can the other person provide for me with materials.

L Vargas 1A
12/1/2023 09:30:57 am

The reason i agree with your comment would have to be because in today's society women expect everything they want just to be handed out to them while men are weak and refuse to work for their desires it shows to go that both genders are lazy, unmotivated, not physically active, and refuse to look for a job.

Sergio Morales link
11/29/2023 01:07:30 pm

Sergio Morales-3A-
I can't really tell what symbols are stamped on the man and woman in the image, but from what I can tell...this image is trying to convey the ideologies that are given to both genders. On the political side you have, man and woman being pitted against one another for the sake of....politics?....and each with their own ideals. On the economic side, they both spend their money on very different things. The man shown here spends his money on sport-related things, video games, and men-related clothing. The woman shown here spends her money on women-related accessories, women-related clothing, and women-related interests. With these differences between the two genders, it just shows how easily they can be pitted against one another. Now on the social side, they can argue about their own differences. I'm stronger, I'm prettier, I'm more mature, I know how to relax, I'm the victim, I'm smarter, We don't need each other.(After this, it's just me rambling.) These differences fortunately, can transfer over to the other gender. There is no uniqueness with each of these pros and cons. Sure, both genders can advance certain pros better than the other can, but it doesn't give them the right to attack each other's weaknesses that every single person has. Equality is hard to get, and not because it's becoming inaccessible but because everyone fights to have the bigger edge.

C.lott 3A
11/30/2023 09:53:20 pm

I agree because sometimes people waste their money on things that don't really help them in any way and are also things that they do not need. This is something that also leads to having bad spending habits in the future. People wasting money on stuff they don't need and now they regret everything they bought

Starr Kandice 1a
12/1/2023 08:46:53 am

I strongly agree with this statement beecause in todays society we don't focus on what is really going on in the real world and we get wrapped up in the materalistic things we have

C. Deane 6B
11/30/2023 10:47:34 am

I think this image is an example of people wasting money on stuff they don't need. And now they regret everything they bought. And now they want there money back or something.

This image represents the way society cares too much about materialistic things and how it turns us into slaves, and how it distracts us from the real reasons why we are on earth. The brands gets us to chase it and chase more like a never ending cycle.

A Bethany
12/1/2023 08:07:55 am

I agree now a days people praise worldly things more than focusing on the right things in life.

T Samuels 6b
12/1/2023 09:55:42 am

I can see the perspective. The image highlights concerns about societal focus on materialism, suggesting it can lead to a cycle of chasing brands and possessions. It resonates with the idea that such pursuits might distract from deeper existential purposes and contribute to a sense of being enslaved to consumerism.

cook T,
12/1/2023 02:47:27 pm

I agree with you on this one now and days no one really care about what's going on in life they just care about the media and new cars, clothes and shoes

C Da Silva 1A
11/30/2023 01:04:41 pm

The image shows how people can become addicted to buying certain products and how it takes over their lives. Some people are willing to do whatever it takes to have certain things and it can lead them to even have bad spending habits.

A Bethany
12/1/2023 08:08:56 am

I 100% agree with you like everyone who is rich now never spend their money on useful stuff

D. Costilla 4A
12/1/2023 02:53:59 pm

I also think people can become addicted to buying products. And how it can lead to bad spending habits. It can become a bad drive people can develop and get accustomed to.

M Roberson 8B
12/1/2023 08:03:02 pm

I agree with you. When I looked at the image the first thing I saw was the controller and the guy's arms. I also noticed the different items on each side making me think that this picture is trying to show materialism.

B Jasso 6B
11/30/2023 04:23:18 pm

What I see in this picture is a man and woman being overpowered by materialistic things. The man, has a ton of shoe brands, and gaming brands, and the woman has make up and designer brands. So the picture is trying to say that no matter the gender, people will always want material things, just because it's cool. And they wont really think that there's more to life than just material things

L Vargas 1A
12/1/2023 09:21:19 am

I can agree because this represents a man with branded clothes, and the man playing video games, and the woman having the taste for some luxury items

J. Kinard (4A)
12/1/2023 02:51:33 pm

Yes, many people focus on just the material side of life. In today's culture there are fewer and fewer people who appreciate the simple things.

Dontae ELey 8B

I agree to this because we all want material things to make us happy and have some form of path and norm to follow.

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 8B
11/30/2023 06:01:35 pm

This picture shows that a man is overpowering a woman as he has a lot more awards than the women. It's also showing that people want the expensive designer brands as they make a person look richer.Men buy shoes and games while women buy make up. Things they are supposed to buy due to gender.

M Roberson 8B
12/1/2023 08:00:29 pm

I really agree with the last few sentences. I also believe this is what the images are trying to represent. I also said that this image symbolizes materialism.

C.lott 3A
11/30/2023 09:50:21 pm

This image is a way of showing how we are automatically expecting what both men and women like and how they need to think, feel, and do with their lives. There is so much assumption about it both, men should be athletic and like masculine things, while women should have nice things and be perfect. There is too much assumptions about how men and women should act and live.

J Deleon 6B
12/1/2023 12:43:02 pm

C, Ramirez 3A

I think it's not really putting assumptions about men and female, but more on how we are being controlled by the corporations that feed to our government.

A Bethany 7B
12/1/2023 08:07:01 am

I feel like this picture is showing how people praise materialism, and how the government take part in advertising it to everyone.

This image makes me think that this image presents the image of today's society

M Johnson 1A
12/1/2023 09:04:15 am

I think that women and men are held bound by the materialistic things of the world. We are held down by the things in the picture like Like jordans and video games and expensive purses.

D. Costilla 4A
12/1/2023 02:49:43 pm

I also think that we are held down by materialistic things. In today's society you see it be talked about a lot and bought a lot. A majority of people in today's society all depend and rely on such things as "brands".

D Davis 6B

Joshua Deleon 6B
12/1/2023 09:25:21 am

I see that the picture shows what men and women are attached too , the items and brands that people become obsessed with. It shows how they can make brands popular and get people to buy them because of their name.

T Samuels 6b
12/1/2023 09:41:37 am

The phrase "stamped from the beginning" suggests that certain ideas or beliefs are deeply ingrained and have a long history of existence, possibly influencing various aspects of society, politics, and economics over time.

D Davis 6B
12/1/2023 03:13:01 pm

I agree with this. The "tattoos" on them are towards stereotypes of men and woman which have grown over the years.

A. Green 8B
12/1/2023 10:22:45 am

Politically, this picture reminds me of how some people outside of the U.S. only see Americans as an extension of the Governments actions, Which could be truthful in some instances. Economically, in this picture they have name brands stamped onto their bodies, and that reminds me of the societal pressure to have name brand objects even if you are not financially stable. Overall the picture of them being stamped seems like branding, like how they do to cows and that reminds me of how people will only view you at face value.

Dontae Eley 8B
12/1/2023 11:58:54 pm

I agree because we all follow the social norm by the government.

George Kessebeh
12/1/2023 12:36:47 pm

The image represents society's tendency to impose preconceived notions on both men and women regarding their preferences, thoughts, emotions, and lifestyles. It highlights the prevalent assumptions that men should be athletic and interested in masculine activities, while women should prioritize material possessions and attain perfection. These expectations limit individuals' freedom to express themselves authentically. Women should not feel compelled to be materialistic, and men are not obligated to conform to stereotypical masculine interests. It is crucial for everyone to embrace their uniqueness and resist societal pressures to conform to predetermined norms or preferences.

M Contreras 6B
12/1/2023 11:58:44 pm

Thats is also one way to understand this image. I say that because men and woman feel the need to have these things in order to be seen as normal. However I feel that it also has to do with the fact that the brands give you a certin image.

Alynette Delgado
12/1/2023 12:55:50 pm

This image represents the representation of bondage in today’s age of society. The tattoos represent the different type of institutions that economically bind this community. The Gucci purse represents the same idea. The “KKK” on the man’s clothes, symbolize how the institutions are changing but there values are not.

The political implications of the image above stem from economical and social points that connect and intertwine with large corporations being the backbone that currently keeps our country going. The voice of the people fall onto the ears of the government but both are controlled by named brands. From the cereal we eat to the media we consume, brand names and corporations own everything. Our money feeds the machine that is the greedy capitalist economy all of which is influenced by our social media consumption and ads. No matter how hard we try to fight against injust government decisions and politicians, we will always be part of the problem by funding these monopolies and advertising them on social platforms.

I feel like the image above shows a representation of the stereo type of black/ African Americans and it also shows what they are products of and it also shows them as items trying to show that there not important/replaceable and it has them infant of the White House because that is the most high authority implying that most authority figures see most African Americans as such.

M Contreras 6B
12/1/2023 11:52:55 pm

This is also a way I interpreted the image. They have no shirts on to show how they are branded like cows. Thats why I agree with you about your thought on the image.

Martinez, P 3A

The image above is showing all negative and positive things that withhold us from living to our full potential. We have things such as video games for guys and fashion trends for girls and things such in that nature.

D. Costilla 4A
12/1/2023 02:47:26 pm

In this image I see two different individuals, both a female and a male. They are both branded with different brands and items. As in things they mainly buy and use. In the picture it shows that they are both handcuffed and in front of what seems a white house. I think it means that they are both tied down and born into a world filled with commercialism. And how the government uses this as an advantage over them.

it looks like they have logos of companies on them while the are holding themselves up.

Yes, but what do you think this represents and means? Expand your thinking on it.

12/1/2023 02:53:34 pm

I think the image represents how now and days everyone is so tied up with on brand stuff and games and clothes and etc. I feel that nowadays everyone care about the media and on brand stuff. No one cares what's going on in the real world they only care when the new iphones are coming out or when the new Prada purse will be coming out

This fellow student can be right that buying things from one brand can be an addiction to many people.

i feel like it shows that people care more for materialistic things cause in this generation you have to have the newest shoe and bags or gaming system form cars to everything in order to fit with everybody but i blame
all the famous people cause back then nobody cared for nice shoes or the newest gaming system or having luxury clothes or shoes or bags when you start to see more and more people with thoese things then everybody eles wants to have thoese things

I agree, I feel like as humans in this generation we are too materialistic and these brands know that.

The image is trying to tell us that any company brand can really catch our attention to buy something and then buy more from that company brand.

I think politically, there is a set difference in what both men and women are into and its clear in the image. The guy likes Nike and Jordan and video games etc. and the woman likes channel and LV and the earrings. Economically this is a way people can show they are a person of money or they are just doing it for the trend or the image. Socially this is how people put out there style and this is what they like to post on their socials. But people are really brain washed and think there are only these things in the world to make you look nice and everything.

D Sparks 1A
12/1/2023 08:41:48 pm

There is a difference in a way, however, it still is related to the same message. The brands are expensive, materialistic, and program us to think we need their products.

D Davis 6B

I think this image shows the typical stereotypes of what men and women should like, and they're fighting against it.

Abraham Martinez

Completely agree as it kinda shows how brands have been imprinted onto people over the years

D Cruz 3A
12/1/2023 03:54:01 pm

Politically, I believe the picture is showing expectations and norms of men and women in the world. The things that we are typically wrapped around. Economically, the things shown in the picture is sort people spend their money on to follow the trend. Socially, since women and men are normalized and expected to have or be interested in the same things, people want to socially fit in.

Johnson M 1A 2
12/1/2023 06:16:00 pm

When it comes to seeing everyone getting something and it becomes a trend we tend to also want it. We either get it or we don't get it or we do. Once it dies out everyone will want something else and it becomes a trend.

Abraham Martinez 6B
12/1/2023 09:23:53 pm

That makes a lot of sense as many statues in society cause for individuals to be compelled to buy similar things to others

Yes i agree the picture is showing what were wrapped around and what we follow.

I think the image above is displaying how our society is trapped in being consumed by materialistic things. Mostly everyone feel the need to fit in with society. Meaning keeping up with the new fashion trends etc.

I agree people tend to purchase items that conform to societal norms, such as high-end clothing or branded products.

Johnson M 2 1A

I believe that it shows that most of what all people believe in is having all the brands and latest things. It shows the economic trends that we follow when it comes to buying things we don't need.

X Albiar
12/1/2023 11:27:13 pm

i agree with this because it shows all the brands a man and a woman typically buy

M Roberson 8B
12/1/2023 07:57:27 pm

When I first seen the image I noticed the contrast between the woman and men. The woman's body has items such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and other symbols from brands. The men's side also has different items on it. The first thing I realized is symbolism. While the man has items like the video game & a basketball the woman has more items like clothes and bags. I think this symbolized materialism. Not only that the standard for some women and men.

D Sparks 3A
12/1/2023 08:39:12 pm

This image represents the hold the higher ups have on us as African American consumers. We have been programmed to believe that we need these expensive brands and certain materialistic things to be considered “normal” or “cool”. We have let these materialistic items cloud our brain in get in the way of what matters.

C.Scott 1a
12/1/2023 10:58:42 pm

Totally! The materialistic things are wants of us black people we dont need that stuff. We should be holding our power and putting it into something useful like investing into some land and building a school or shelters for kids who need places and clothes on their backs. AND PUT THAT ON SOCIAL MEDIA, not ur new gucci bag you just got.

A Bradley
12/5/2023 10:31:33 am

I also agree that this picture has a racial view point. A lot of the brands on their back are could be stereotyped as brands always seen with African Americans

Abraham Martinez 6B
12/1/2023 08:57:07 pm

I believe that this image represents how products and items have affected society and how it has a hold on the people

Z Diaz 1A

Stamped from the Beginning, the picture to me means men and women are stamped from the beginning of time with gender roles and requirements. In the picture you see a man and a woman being helped by bondage to me that means something very deep historically. As you all know some old folks will say stuff like "women belong in the kitchen while men work" that's what i mean when i say the meaning is in bedded historically.

C.Scott 1a
12/1/2023 10:55:55 pm

I get what your putting down and it makes so much since stuff like this has been brain washed over us for the longest.

B penson 7B
12/1/2023 10:35:59 pm

i feel like the picture shows what we “follow” in a sense.Like the brands and materialistic things everyone buys into.

C.Scott 1a
12/1/2023 10:54:54 pm

This picture has a many different meanings to sought too. Basically what i'm getting from this is such African american is stuck in the world that materialistic things benefit them, I see it as this is how the government is able to take our power and our money knowing this is what we or sum like. Its all a loop honestly. And the social part comes in at us black people always let the internet see the things we got or have purchased i don't know it seems as such need of validation.

X Albiar
12/1/2023 11:04:32 pm

i think what this picture means is its showing the differences in the things men and women are into

M Contreras 6B
12/1/2023 11:48:12 pm

I feel that the picture represents the different things men and woman "need" for society to think good of them. For example the brands on their backs and the bag the women is holding and the controller the man has.

C Nwachukwu 7B
12/1/2023 11:57:45 pm

This shows that the world today is overrun by materialistic things. This causes us to to get distracted from what's really important which is taking care of ourselves and getting the things we need.

Dontae Eley 8B
12/1/2023 11:58:32 pm

The picture here involves social media because women are seen with purses, and men are seen with basketballs and sports related things. It has became the social norm. Economically, women tend to cater more towards beauty products. Politically, this image is seen representing gender roles given by society an government.

Sanchez 6b
12/2/2023 10:51:32 am

It is unjust that such preconceived ideas exist, dictating how each gender should think, feel, and lead their lives. Every individual should possess the liberty to embrace their true selves without succumbing to these stereotypes.

A Bradley 6B
12/5/2023 10:26:11 am

I think this image represents the idea that men can only like and do certain things and vice versa for women. This can be seen by the brands and activities on the mans back that are "men things" like video games and sports brands.
