Social Media?

12/3/2017

Picture
Social media says a lot about how we behave as a society. It dictates how we think, shop, interact, and look. If affects how we see ourselves and how others see us. It is the dictator of perception.

Nevertheless, it is important that people do not lose themselves in the melee. Is it possible to live in a world without social media? What would that look like? If it's not possible, how do you keep your balance in a world so off-balance with smoke screens and mirrors?

The picture emphasizes how we fill ourselves with social media, allowing it to have control over us. The syringes of different social media apps represents how we inject ourselves by giving it attention, and allow it [to take over like a drug]. Social media,( an addiction in disguise), is able to poison us in ways we can hardly recognize if we can’t control our time spent on it. All of the different apps gives society a mischievous grin as they slowly claim authority over us all. Their interesting facts and random theories, social media never fails to bore us.

The concept of the picture is captivating it shows how social media could be like a drug. It shows how we use social media as a tool to hurt ourselves, notice how the man is injecting himself. We are submitting ourselves to a society that is as complex as a rubric. For instance, (the social media app, twitter) is a case and point on how we get on the app to check the lives of others or to simply be “entertained”, but yet we get so addicted. To conclude my theory no matter if our hands shaking, back aching, or limbs are breaking, we find a way to become addicted to a crooked society that is diminishing us from the experience of life and knowledge to submit ourselves as slaves.

    Mixed Ink

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.

    Bridge Builders
