Obviously skin color is not a choice but education and attitude certainly is.

Shankle, A 1A
1/10/2024 11:51:01 am

YES i agreed that skin color is not a choice but many people really don ´ t be forced on education and attitude. Whenever you were born and raised, do not need to change your skin color.

C Deane 6B
1/10/2024 05:39:24 pm

I agree with you because I think some people think they have a choice and they choose to be a skin color.

Sergio Morales link
1/11/2024 01:58:57 pm

Sergio Morales-3A-
Very nice simple answer, but it's not bad to explain why education and attitude is a choice. Because right now I'm seeing a lot of students taking this statement literally for what it is, and not the society aspect of it.

Ross,S
1/11/2024 03:11:07 pm

I agree with you attitude that it is a choice.

T Samuels 6b
1/11/2024 05:08:43 pm

I strongly agree with you because you cannot choose the skin color you are when you are born.

Camarillo M 3A

I completely agree because it's your privilege and your skin color that you been born with.

Shankle, A 1A
1/10/2024 11:39:02 am

Skin color is NOT a choice. Some people would make it as a choice like being a model or you have to fit for the script to play that actress. But i would NEVER make a skin color a choice you were born and raise to this skin color and you can´t denied it.

C Deane 6B
1/10/2024 05:37:55 pm

I agree 100%, I think this some people are entitled to there own opinion, and try to claim they chose they're skin color.

Diaz z 1A

I agree, your born with it its not something you can just select.

Tyren D 4A

I agree people be one race trying to act like a whole different person/race

K. Lombardo 7b

i agree with this completely. I for example identify as a white male.

M Johnson 1A
1/11/2024 10:35:33 am

I agree that it's not a choice even tho some people change their skin color or try to.

Ross,Shonna
1/11/2024 03:12:26 pm

I agree you can play a color or act a color but you will always we the color you were born with.

D.mims 1a

i agree most people change to fit into a narrative.

C, Ramirez 3A
1/12/2024 12:48:14 pm

I agree there is no denying the color of our skin. You can't pick or choose what color you want to be. We are born like this

C Deane 6B
1/10/2024 05:34:18 pm

Skin color is definitely not a choice. You can change that. People may say i woke up today and chose to be a certain color, but thats just not logical.

Shankle, A 1A
1/10/2024 05:51:28 pm

Yes skin color is not a choice. Many people would been different than other people skin color complexion. Like Michael Jackson he was a black man and later on his skin color changed to white. Which it was different from other people.

A Giles 1A
1/11/2024 09:29:00 am

Exactly sometimes people cant change the fact that their skin color is changing. They are still going to be the same race as they were before but just lighter or darker. Just because the color of your skin changes it does not change the fact how/who you were born as.

Diaz Z 1A
1/11/2024 09:09:45 am

I agree this is something you cant just say your skin color is gonna change everyday unless you have a medical condition.

N rainey 1a
1/11/2024 09:19:39 am

i agree with this because you cant wake up different colors you'll still be seen as the color you are

Sergio Morales link

Sergio Morales-3A-
I don't think it's to be taken literally. There is no correct, full proof way to change your skin color, so the statement must mean something else.

Contreras M 6B
1/12/2024 11:55:01 pm

I think there are ways however they aren’t accessible to everyone. Yet a somewhat agree because the statement could have a deeper meaning.

C Cofield 3A
1/11/2024 08:54:27 pm

I one hundred percent could second this argument mainly because you as a person could identify as what ever you want, but that doesn’t necessarily mean others have to willing accept it.

J. Lira 7B
1/12/2024 12:03:36 pm

You can apply makeup and tons of skin product; even get a tan, but you could never get rid of it, it is just who you are. So I do agree with you.

Hernandez A. 4A
1/13/2024 09:35:18 am

This response is right about how skin color is not a choice.

Diaz Z 1A
1/11/2024 09:07:28 am

Skin color is not a choice, it something everyone is born with at birth, yes some may say " you can change it with tanner, sun, sometimes even injections or medicine" but then is that really your skin color? Who knows everyone is entilted to their opinion but to me skin color is not a choice.

N rainey 1a
1/11/2024 09:21:12 am

i agree because its true that your born with the color you are you and you cant control it

A Giles 1A
1/11/2024 09:33:23 am

Yeah just because you have ways to change your skin color does not mean that, that is who you are. Skin color is not a choice for you just like being born onto this earth.

T Samuels 6b
1/11/2024 05:13:59 pm

I totally get what you're saying. Skin color is like your unique genetic signature – something you're born with. Sure, you can tan or use stuff to change how it looks, but that's just temporary.

Braeden Penson 7B
1/12/2024 10:57:02 am

I agree that skin color isnt a choice and also when you tan eventually your skin goes back to its normal color

L Vargas 1A

I strongly agree with your opinion and the reason being because you can't just change your skin color and claimed that your a another race

N rainey 1a

skin is not a choice its what your born with and you cant control what color you come out as

Smith N 3a

I agree because its not like I was able to choose what I wanted to be

M Johnson 1A

aint this the fucking truth

K. Lombardo
1/12/2024 01:43:22 pm

I disagree with this statement. I can bleach my skin and that's my choice to be a lighter tone.

A Giles 1A
1/11/2024 09:24:44 am

No, you cannot choose to be a skin color. I mean you can think that you are someone/something different from what you actually are but put will be up front about who you are. You can do black face if you want or any other kind of that stuff but I wouldn't. It is a bad thing to do. I wouldnt prefer to do that at all in general either.

J. RockwellI 3a
1/11/2024 01:56:24 pm

facrs no you cant think you someone else you are you not nobody else generation is going to shit

C Cofield 3A
1/11/2024 08:34:25 pm

I would like to whole heartedly agree with you on the skin tone/color isn’t a choice. Everyone Is born with many different appearances/features from others and I believe your skin tone could possibly be a result of that.

Contreras M 6B
1/12/2024 11:56:38 pm

Yes this is something I agree with. Deep down you cant change who you are. Yes you can change the way you look and your features however you can’t change culture.

D.mims 1a
1/11/2024 09:38:02 am

skin color is not a choice because that is what you are born with, but nowadays people like to change it by lighting it or getting tans.

Smith N 3a
1/11/2024 09:38:27 am

In my opinion skin color is not a choice because nobody can was able to choose what skin color they wanted to be while they where in the womb

D.mims 1a

i agree nobody can choose what skin color they wanted.

M Johnson 1A
1/11/2024 10:25:03 am

Skin color isn't a choice. You can't choose to identify as another race just because you feel like it. Whatever you were born with you have to stick with it.

C Da Silva 1A
1/11/2024 01:55:45 pm

I agree, the color of our skin is something that cannot be changed and we have no choice over our skin color either. I also agree that you can't just identify as another color because it just doesn't work like that.

D Manuel 1a
1/11/2024 04:50:14 pm

I agree, you can’t choose your skin color, it is not a choice.

Rivers jadian
1/11/2024 06:29:19 pm

I disagree only bc yes when born skin color is not a choice but when you get of age you can indeed change your skin color

M .Evbuomwan 8b
1/12/2024 11:15:20 pm

You can definitely change your race physically but not genetically ex: Michael Jackson

A Bradley 6B
1/17/2024 10:38:12 am

I partially disagree because while it is true that you can't choose your identity, you can still alter your skin color with makeup or plastic surgery.

Sergio Morales link

Sergio Morales-3A-
I wrote a very long and nice statement, and it got deleted when the page refreshed at 1:30 so here's the short version. There may be stereotypes given to us by our society but you do not have to follow it. You are not obligated, you have free will with how you act. Your skin color does not decide you. You are unique, you are what you choose to be. The structure that society gives us is not a preset, it is to be advanced and followed to be better.

C Da Silva 1A
1/11/2024 01:54:15 pm

I agree, your choices should not be defined by what other people say about you. You should also always do your best to try and do the right thing.

A,Martinez 7B
1/12/2024 08:55:32 am

I agree, your behavior is a choice. A persons skin tone does not define who you are and how you will behave.

C, Ramirez 3A
1/12/2024 12:27:10 pm

I agree we should not stop being who we are just because society thinks is wrong. Stereotypes do not decide who we are.

A, Martinez 6B
1/12/2024 12:54:20 pm

This makes a lot of sense as you can't chose what color you are, but you can chose the person you want to be

C Da Silva 1A
1/11/2024 01:52:41 pm

No, skin color is not a choice. Your skin color is something that you are born with. No matter what you do it can't be changed. There are ways to change it a little but it's still not permanent so skin color is something that you can't change.

Rivers jadian 7b
1/11/2024 06:24:05 pm

I disagree wit the statement that you said you can only change it a little bit but you can actually change your skin tone. Even though you can’t chose it you can in fact change it completely

J. RockwellI 3a
1/11/2024 01:56:54 pm

facts you got what you got can't do nun about it

Ross,S
1/11/2024 03:08:03 pm

Skin color is not a choice because you are born how you are born there is no "choice" yes there is a choice of character but not on skin .

Tyren D 4A
1/11/2024 03:16:42 pm

I agree because you can still be one race but wanting tube another race you start eating like them.

D Manuel 1a
1/11/2024 04:48:10 pm

Very much agreed. You did not choose what skin color you were born with.

Tyren D 4A
1/11/2024 03:14:15 pm

I feel like skin color is not a choice and you have to just except who you and other people are for how they treat people not by there skin color.

D Manuel 1a
1/11/2024 04:46:55 pm

Skin color is not a choice. The color can be modified through makeup but at the end of the day what you look like under all of that is the real you and you were born with that. No choice given at all. God knows if I had the choice I wouldn’t be brown.

T Samuels 6b
1/11/2024 05:11:27 pm

Skin color is not a choice; it is definitely determined by genetic factors. When someone says that skin color is a choice, it overlooks the scientific understanding of human biology and diversity.

Rivers Jadian 7B
1/11/2024 06:16:53 pm

I feel like they mean figuratively because duh we know nb can chose their own skin tone. But we can can change our “skin” like the way we act and the way we show our selfs to others on the outside.

Madi Snyder 6B
1/12/2024 10:46:28 am

I like that. The way we show ourself on the outside can change depending on who we are around and how long we have known the person. Although I do feel that you should never hide yourself and if someone doesn't like you they can go away, people most of the time are always holding themselves to act like the standard instead of themself.

Nicholas Parker 7B
1/12/2024 11:19:28 am

i hate to agree with you but you are right

M. Moore 8B
1/11/2024 08:08:00 pm

I don't think the color of your skin is can be changed. (Obviously) However maybe your skin it's your skin truly and it means something else. Maybe it means the way someone acts like the term " comfortable in one's skin" they are comfortable with who they are.

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 8b
1/12/2024 07:58:05 am

I hear that term used a lot "comfortable in one's skin" If people were actually comfortable with the way they were born they were born.

A. Bethany
1/12/2024 11:14:28 am

With current technology people can actually alter their skin color, that is their choice, but the skin color people are born with isn't their choice.

C Cofield 3A
1/11/2024 08:39:46 pm

I would like to say that skin tone isn’t a choice because you can’t choose what tone u want to be born as. At the same time to a certain extent many might get some sort of enhancement of the sorts to change their tones. Which would may be consider unnatural to most.

Madi Snyder 6B
1/12/2024 10:41:34 am

Enhancements that can change yourself like that seem very dangerous. That is so much of your body that is going to change or be invaded if you want to change yourself like that.

Contreras M 6B
1/11/2024 11:55:37 pm

Skin color is not a choice it is something that you are born with. No one gets to pick which skin color they want when being born. However your color can change, due to tanning, bleaching, or skin conditions.

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 8b
1/12/2024 07:56:01 am

I agree, skin color can be changed it some ways but tanning isn't permanent, bleaching isn't great, and skin conditions are permanent. But what you are at birth is what you are. you don't choose.

M Evbuomwan 8b
1/12/2024 11:21:55 pm

I agree skin color can be changed physically but not permanently or genetically

Nox (Katelyn) Sears 8b
1/12/2024 07:54:06 am

Skin color is obviously not a choice. Your skin color does not define who you are and who you are meant to be. You are born with the skin color. It cannot be changed. It's what makes you who you are.

A,Martinez 7B
1/12/2024 08:51:46 am

I agree, the skin tone of a person should not define who they are or what they are capable of.

Braeden Penson 7B
1/12/2024 10:55:55 am

I agree that skin color is not a choice but something that makes who you are

Smith N 3a

I agree your skin color isnt your choice but it doesnt prevent you from being who you want to be

C.lott 3A
1/12/2024 11:08:43 am

I agree, because most people do believe your skin defines who you are by using stereotypes alot. Skin color is something that you should be proud of it cause thats what you were born to look like. The skin dont neccassarily make you but it just shows who your genetics came from.

Nicholas Parker 7B
1/12/2024 11:17:18 am

I disagree with your comment completly

Natalee Sears 7B
1/12/2024 12:13:23 pm

I agree with this, skin color is not a choice, but it doesn't make up the characteristics of who you are

R Rinehart 6B
1/12/2024 12:16:49 pm

Very true, skin color does not define the kind of person. It makes you, you.

A,Martinez 7B
1/12/2024 08:44:48 am

Skin color is not a choice as you were born with that skin tone. Although people can try to alter it, their methods are usually not permanent or safe. It is better to become comfortable with who you are completely.

R Rinehart 6B
1/12/2024 12:15:12 pm

I agree, its not really something that can be chosen.

Natalee Sears 7B
1/12/2024 12:31:06 pm

I agree with this because it is not a choice and you were born with that skin color. You can become comfortable with how you are

Starr Kandice 1a
1/24/2024 11:45:49 am

I agree and just because there may be perseders that can be done does't mean it is safe for you or your body

Natalee Sears 7B
1/12/2024 10:22:03 am

Skin color is NOT a choice, yes it can be altered with things like skin conditions or tanning, but it does NOT define you as a person. People should feel comfortable in their own skin and comfortable with who they are.

Madi Snyder 6B
1/12/2024 10:40:15 am

Skin color is not a choice, you don't get to choose the skin color you are born. You should be comfortable with who you are born to be, and if not then you should take steps to find ways to be happy with how you are because there is no changing it, and it you very much feel you wanna change your skin, which I dont even believe is possible, it probably would not even be safe. Skin color doesn't define who you are, but you should be comfortable.

C.lott 3A
1/12/2024 11:04:04 am

I agree, we dont get the fact we were blessed and gifted to have something apart of us. Most people arent comfortable with who tey are and their skin color. For what reason? I dont know. I would assume some just hear things and its being heard so much they might have just followed to whats being picked up.

J. Lira 7B
1/12/2024 01:22:19 pm

You can change your skin color by altering it with makeup, tanning etc. however that still doesn't change the skin color you were born with. I do agree with you, and you should definitely be comfortable with your natural characteristics.

Braeden Penson 7B
1/12/2024 10:54:10 am

Skin color is obviously not a choice because it is given at birth.Your parents are the ones that determine your skin color

A. Bethany
1/12/2024 11:13:01 am

I agree with the first part and disagree with the second part. Some parents can birth a kid with a completely different skin color than them.

M Roberson 8B
1/13/2024 11:58:14 pm

I agree with what you said. Skin color is something that you are born with. Even procreating with others will not determine what your offspring's skin color's outcome.

C.lott 3A
1/12/2024 11:00:16 am

skin is definetely not a choice. Humans are automatically given the skin through genetics. Its passed down from generation- to- generation.

A .Bethany 7b
1/12/2024 11:12:03 am

I completely disagree that skin color is a choice. A person is not in control of the skin color they are born with. Just because people are able to alter their skin color now days doesn't change the fact that the color they are born with is the original one.

Nicholas Parker 7B
1/12/2024 11:16:43 am

I believe that skin color is a choice, you have the choice to view people as a color instead of a human, if you think like that you are most likely viewing people as a color. If you remove that from your mind skin color would not be the topic of this mixedink.

A, Martinez 6B
1/12/2024 12:50:01 pm

Skin color is not a choice what you are meaning to say is it's a choice wheather yo want to be racist or not.

I agree with what you said. I also believe that skin color isn't a choice. Although, you can change it.

I agree because the appearance of your skin can change but deep down, your identity and the natural skin color that you were born with will always be the same.

Skin color isn't a choice. You are born with the genetics you have. You can deny it all you want, but your skin color will always stay the same. Even if you try to change it.

Skin color is caused by genetics that are inherited from your parents, your skin color predetermined before you are born so it is not choice

Skin color not a choice at all we didn't ask to come down here to like this it was forced.

No,because the skin color that people are born with was not decided by parents.

I do not think that skin color is a choice. People can change it by tanning and other methods. You have your skin tone because of your body.

I agree because you can change it with makeup but you can’t actually change it.

A Bradley 6B

I think in this current time skin color is a choice because all of the things we have available to use like makeup and plastic surgery. The skin color you are born with is not a choice though.

I think skin color is not a choice that people can just make straight away and the reason being you just magically change your skin color out of nowhere.

I agree because at the end of the day you will alwyas be the same color and you should embrace it

Skin color is not a choice. even if it was I still think you should be comfotable and confident in the skin that you are in and be your true self. you can wear makeup and everything to try and "change' your skin color but at the end of the day your still the same color you were born and before you put on makeup. Be yourwelf and embrace your skin color and wh you are cause skin color is culture

Everyone is special in their own way and someone shouldn't be judged of their skin color. Everyone is different, skin color is not a choice so we have to accept who we are.

Skin color is not choice, because you are born with it. You can't choose what skin color you want to be you have to deal with it.

I completely agree with you that skin color is not a choice. It is a natural and inherent characteristic that is determined by genetics and various other factors.

Eduardo m 3a
3/7/2024 01:51:39 pm

Skin color is definitely not a choice. Sure you could apply all the makeup or whatever altering product you have, but once it comes off it shows the color you were born with. I personally am a brownish person, in which I'm aware of.Awareness to your skin color and acceptance are all things we need to accept because that's who we are.

agreed! we just have to learn to express our selves with our skin color and just accept who we are. people shouldn’t judge based off of skin color also because everyone is different in their own lil way.

Camarillo M 3A
3/7/2024 02:01:54 pm

the skin color isn't a choice is something you have been born with you can't change anything about that because, it describes who are are and what race are and i guess some privilege they can have.

jaylen hill

No, skin color is not a choice. Your skin color is something that you are born with. No matter what you do it can't be changed. There are ways to change it a little but it's still not permanent so skin color is something that you can't change

K. Gooch 4A
3/7/2024 06:51:29 pm

yes we just have to learn to be who we are no matter what we look like on the outside.

I don’t think skin color is a choice. it’s a privilege that you shouldn’t take advantage of. We didn’t get to pick what skin color we are, so we have to deal with it for life , better pray abt it or someeee😭

No, skn color is not a choice. It's by genetics and melanin production in our bodies. Depending on race, the amount of melanin the sun gives off can alter your skin tone.
