My Opinion Of The Whole Situation Is That Society Is Going To Hate Regardless . You Are Who You Are . We Where Once Not Considered An Equal To The Rest Of The Society Because We Where Black . So Just Because He Gay The Nfl Shouldnt Treat Him Differently . And Him Kissing His Boyfriend Is Not A Problem For Me And It Shouldnt Be A Problem For No One Else

Ii agree with with taylor but some people might take it to heart not knowing his situation

DeQuelyn Longway Adams
9/4/2014 12:58:44 pm

I highly disagree with Taylor because the world was not built for a guy to be with another guy.

Taylor Dilworth
9/5/2014 01:51:14 am

Okay Thats True Mr. Longway But What Gives Us The Right To Judge Anything That Anyone Do. There Are Gay Girls Like Nicki Minaj But Society Seems To Be Okay With That But A Dude Why Not Half Of Your Football And Basketball Players Are In The Closet But Having Came Out

Joshua Johnson
9/5/2014 03:12:11 am

I agree with Longway Adams, there is no way a man should like another man. Sam is putting negative influence out to others. Especially to his Alma Mater. Seeing a team full of football players dance is totally unexceptable

Cari Armstrong
9/5/2014 04:10:09 pm

I disagree because you where put in this earth to be your own self

Tayja Birdsong
9/4/2014 05:42:30 pm

I agree with you Taylor. Why should his preference intefer with his talent or dream. If he likes dating guys , what difference does it make. WBA has gay women, why isn't their preference exposed as much. Society is so bias.

Deranique Browning
9/5/2014 04:21:24 pm

Taylor Dilworth we are on the same page . Because you can't judge anybody by who they wanna be . God put you on this world to be you and if your comfortable with it then it shouldn't bother other people . Because regardless people are going to judge you anyways .

Isaiah Manning 2nd period
9/10/2014 09:59:08 am

I agree with Ms. Dilworth, his personal life wouldnt affect his performance on the field. If Mr. Disney is good at what people know him for is football than look at his talent, and not judge his personal life.

Halee' Boyd
9/4/2014 10:07:00 am

Michael Sam decision to go public with being gay, i agree with. Because being gay don't affect how he play on the field, so the nfl shouldn't treat him any differently.

DeMarcus Byrd 2nd Period
9/4/2014 10:18:15 am

Halee I total agree with you, being gay has nothing to do with his performance on the football field.

aspen smith

I Agree With Halee , Being Homosexual Has Nothing To Do With how He Preforms On The Field , As Long As Hes Happy Thats All That Matters

Ariana Hughes-Crockett
9/4/2014 10:25:12 am

Michael Sam decision of telling the nfl he gay was a good and a bad thing. The good thing about it is aleast he isn't ashamed of his lifestyle and he doesn't care what people think and I feel an individual shouldn't care what people think as long as you happy thats all that matters. The bad part about it is he getting judged and people are looking at him different and nobody wants to be his friend or deal with him me personally I accept some gay things but not really because if you tell me you gay I'm going to treat you a certain way and I'm not going to be cool with you playing with me a certain way there's going to be a limit.

DeMarcus Byrd
9/4/2014 10:36:18 am

Michael Sam's decision to go Pro after confessing that he was gay shouldn't have affected him at all. His personal life has nothing to do with his professional career. Everyone has their own beliefs and being gay just so happens to be his.

Darryl sellars
9/4/2014 01:43:49 pm

I agree with Demarcus Byrd because his post is pretty similar to mine. Personal life. It all shouldn't matter.

Nefretiri Ross
9/4/2014 03:29:59 pm

Yes him confessing about his sexual life style doesn't mean anything it could help other people boost their confidence up and might want to have a voice now about society .

Vanessa Salazar
9/4/2014 10:36:57 am

Not every parent wants their children to see the homosexuality that goes around their society. It's not bad for Michael Sam to be honest with the public and tell the truth, but as a community and the public we should also understand the negativity that can be caused just by homosexuality.

Monte' Gooden
9/4/2014 12:28:19 pm

I honestly only agree with this.

T'Anna Smith -5th period
9/4/2014 10:48:44 am

I really don't see a problem with Michael Sam coming out to the world about his sexuality and who are we to judge someone based off of what that person like. Personally I like the fact that He came out before becoming pro, It really shows that He doesn't care what people think.

T'Anna Smith
9/4/2014 10:52:03 am

I agree with DeMarcus Byrd what ever he decides to do is business and shouldn't interfere with his career

Aspen Smith
9/4/2014 11:15:17 am

I Honestly think it was a great idea for him to come out because it shows a lot about him and how brave he is , he didn't care if he was talked about , and he didn't care about what others though of him .
Most people should be more like him and show who they really are because at the end of the day hes still making money and living his dreams

Jaclyn Brown 5th
9/4/2014 01:49:51 pm

I strongly agree that this was a great idea for him to come out and the world how he felt. That why he dont have to live in gulit about not comeing out to the world. Overall this was a good to read.

Avier Ashby
9/4/2014 12:02:15 pm

My opinion about the situation of Michael Sam is that his sexuality has nothing to do with his career. I mean yes I know that he is in the NFL and he came open about it but, its not like none of the players have to date him on his team. Their just there to work as a team and to come home with a ring/trophie. Now, that should be the concerned of the team weather than someone being homosexual.

Derrica Anderson
9/5/2014 03:50:01 pm

True. The man concern should be about winning games and bringing home trophies and/or rings.

9/4/2014 12:23:20 pm

Sam made the right decision to be upfront about his homosexuality. He isn't trying to hide it and obviously wants people to be aware and comfortable around him. Sam would have had a lot to deal with from the media if he would have waited to come out.

Monte' Gooden
9/4/2014 12:27:35 pm

About the Michael Sam situation, I believe personally, that it hurt his career in the long term. Not that him being gay is a good or bad thing just that it effected his surroundings. Him being the first openly gay player in the NFL leaves other in shock to even be okay or even play with him. The NFL is a rugged, violence game. It was very selfish for him to think everyone would be ok with it. Many people are for gays and many people are against it. It also puts to much publicity on the team as whole. Players might want to be traded or might even protest against "Playing With GAYS". So Instead of risking or taking a chance on him being on the team, General Managers and Coaches would rather stick to what they know. That why he went so late in the Draft (7th round) and was recently released by the St Louis Rams. Later, he would be signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad instead of the real team roster maybe a test to see how others will feel with him being a teammate. Talent has nothing to do with this situation.

Tiara Jackson
9/4/2014 05:21:52 pm

I agree with Monte simply because being Gay or not Gay shouldn't determine if you can play a sport or not. Yes , it hurt his career yes he was judged but at the same time who are we as human beings to judge one another? I honestly feel like he is not the only gay football player he was just the only one willing to be open about it. Additionally it did effect his surroundings and also put people in a uncomfortable position. I'm not saying being gay is good or bad either I'm saying you choose your destiny you create your own image, and you can't expect everyone to be for you nor against you.

Michael mage link
9/5/2014 06:46:16 am

I agree with monte becuase he had to knew that all of of this whould have come with him being gay

Victoria Miller
9/4/2014 12:42:21 pm

People are going to judge you regardless of your sexuality. The effects of him coming out might make it really hard to become friends with his teammates,it might also effect the way him or the team play. So yes I do think that his decision deferred his dreams. He could have put off telling of his sexuality a little longer until he was in the NFL.

Victoria Miller
9/4/2014 12:46:18 pm

I agree and disagree with halee, his decision might not effect how he play but it could effect how the team play as a whole. Some of the men on the team if not all may be homophobic and that could effect him in the game if he is being ignored and benched.

DeQuelyn Longway Adams 2nd period
9/4/2014 01:03:48 pm

I think that Sam's made an awful decision. I feel that he should've stuck to the "no ask no tell" policy because being gay could cause major conflict not only around the Nfl but also in the locker room.

Darryl Sellars
9/4/2014 01:40:39 pm

I don't really know what his NFL dream is but I don't think being a homosexual has any effect on how he performs in football. But I do see how coming out publicly will effect the way others see him because everybody has there own opinions on the subject and will judge him based on what they think.

Hector Castillo
9/5/2014 01:38:16 pm

Darryl his dream is to become a NFL pro but him announcing his sexuality would probably not or will have an effect. Darryl is correct, nothing should make him from achieving his dream.

Jaclyn brown 5th
9/4/2014 01:43:08 pm

My opinion on this is that you shouldnt be judge on either you are straight, gay, or even bi. He made a great choise to come out in the open, so that way he will not be question about the sex that he likes. This is good that he came out before he went to the pros, that is just his way of saying that he dosent care bout what people think about him.

Salifu Sangaray 3rd
9/4/2014 02:56:50 pm

Michael Sam's decision to tell the midia he was gay was honest, but the nfl doesn't need any gay players because as a player I don't think Football is for a gay person it's a real mans game.

Salifu 3rd
9/4/2014 03:01:38 pm

I agree with monte because football just isn't for gay guys us football players don't rock like that

Unique Boynton link
9/4/2014 03:09:44 pm

I agree with Halee , being gay does not gender your profit nance on the feild or in anything you do in life. People are so quick to judge based on the little things, whether it's racists or something to do with you sexuality. You can't make everyone happy but as long as your being your self that's all that matters. But yes, him comming out did hurt his career simply because men aren't comfortable with other men who are gay to play a sport with them or do anything with them in that case.

kayla hayes
9/4/2014 05:13:16 pm

i understand unique's proposition , men are not comfortable with playing with gay dudes. it make them feel like they lost their man hood

Judging someone that is different doesn't mean that it will effect anybody else it just mean its time for a change. Would you want to have a human being come out about they life style or keep it in until he or she find it out for them selves. This world we live in is changing people are being treated differently because of their sexuality there is girls and boys playing on different team's that like something else they everybody dont like . I have friends until this day that are scared to death cause they dont have a voice life is about give or take if you dont like them for who they are then play along or dont play at all .

kayla hayes
9/4/2014 05:08:57 pm

i agree with him. coming out was a good thing , your sexuality shouldnt matter how you perform. if your good then it wont matter what type of person you like.

Tayja Birdsong
9/4/2014 05:46:13 pm

His decision on coming out with his sexual orientation should not interfere with his career. His cup of tea isn't going to change what's in the other players. His performance was still great before he came. It shouldn't be so much of a problem unless the teammates are cowards.

jamarie williams p5
9/5/2014 06:08:46 am

I think it didn't defer his NFl dream. Why? because he everyone knows that he is gay and they accept that. People will judge you not knowing you. If Michael Sam wouldn't have told you he was gay. who would've ever thought he was. But I think it was wrong that he kiss his boyfriend on National TV. because there are little kids watching, and Michael Sam might be a young boy role model.

Michael magee link
9/5/2014 06:43:19 am

I think it did because he was the first actual gay man to go public while entering the nfl draft. But he had to know that all the excitement whould come with him becoming openly gay in the nfl draft.

Hector Castillo
9/5/2014 01:32:56 pm

Personally I think its fine for people to be themselves and don't take no for an answer. Just like when Raven Symone revealed her sexuality and everyone was proud for her. This should not effect him from becoming a NFL pro and it should not be taken out of purport.

Hector Castillo

I believe that the man is right for doing what he did. He know what he values and what he believes in. It is wrong when we tell him that he can't believe what he wants to believe. Everyone has a right to be who they want to be.

Derrica Anderson
9/5/2014 03:21:49 pm

Truthfully speaking, society is going to always be judgemental. People are going to make remarks about another individual whether they are doing something positive or negative. However, I feel as though Michael Sam's openness about being a homosexual is going to attract a lot of negative attention.

Cari Armstrong

Cassidy wilder
9/5/2014 04:15:20 pm

I think it's good that he came out his shell and pronounced his sexual way . Holding something in from people is common but not in America . Going pro or being in the NBA , you have to relieve all your secrets to press to make it better on your career .
