Regrets? Do You? Should You?

1/7/2018

Picture
As you grow into who you will become, sometimes it is wise to look back on your life and reflect on things you've done, things you want to do, and things you'd change or keep the same.

While you're still young, now is the opportune time to make mistakes because at this stage in your life, most of them can be corrected. Whether it's in your personal life, school life, work life or relationships with people, you want to always strive to do your best and not blatantly be a sore.

You are in the exact place in your life where you want to pause, look at how your life is going and make plans on how to proceed. This is also the time to assess what kind of person you are. Do you give up easily? Do you look at mistakes as just that, then move forward as you correct them? Or, are you the kind of person who blames everyone and life for all the things that have gone wrong in your life?

Now is the time to look at the person in the mirror, and while you're young, reflect and decide how you will adjust moving forward. Your adjustments may be to stay the same, continue to improve, or make a total makeover of your actions and life as it is so far. Either way, it's not too late until you wake up one morning and know that some mistakes you've made have completely changed your life in such a way that it's too late to change.

Comment on the following prompt: Discuss any regrets that you might have about this school semester and also what you will do to adjust moving forward.

INCLUDE: First initial AND last name AND class period.

You MUST respond to at least TWO other posts from any student. Your replies cannot be identical comments on different posts and posting shallow comments such as "I agree" or "I disagree" will earn you a zero. Make sure your reply addresses the comment that you are responding to.

Be sure to--
  • Be clear about your position
  • Provide specific support for your argument
  • Use rhetorical devices and other grammar elements
  • Write EPIC Content-Engaging, Powerful, Informative, Creative

CAUTION!! Do NOT embarrass me, yourself, your class, the English department, the school or your parents with tasteless, meaningless comments. This is for a grade.

By the end of this year, I would be on my way to being a senior. I have been reviewing my time in LHS and the impact I have done. I cant find any memorable moments while this school, I haven't made any friends, and I academically struggled my first two years. So you can say that I have a great amount of regrets. Undoubtedly, I have learned from them, but I every now and then they cross my mind telling me how I am such a failure.

This is my first year in high school, and here are my regrets.Since I passed all of my classes in middle school and always played in class they just passed me there. But here in high school I have not adapted to high school yet.I have played around in high school, the same as middle school, but the difference is that I am not getting passed here. So,I have struggled in grades so far.Going forward,i have realized that i can't play here and pass,so i will do my work first, then play after.

I definitely see where you're coming from. My freshman year all I wanted to do was relax. I use to always think "I have three years left, so who cares?" But time passes by really fast.

Just like you, my regrets often and sporadically pop up in mind and I fill up with the feeling of failure. When this occurs I often feel sorry for myself, then I always realize feeling sorry for myself is not going to change the actions I made in the past and it is not going to get me far in life. Ultimately, leaving me with no choice to to move on and do better.

Whenever I think of regret, I think of failure. As an individual, you failed yourself. You didn't know how to chose the right thing for yourself. Yet, I have to agree with you. The regrets I have bring feelings of failure in some way.

I have a similar regret though it was because I lost friends that I know meant well for me because I didn't reach back out to them. I was so afraid that I bothered them because they were 'better' people that I decided to ignore them and stay away. In the end I ended up hurting them and making them feel as if they did something wrong. It was selfish thoughts that left myself and others feeling guilty.

My regrets from the past semester is that I have struggled academecly. The reason for that is I have not been focused enough on my school work is because I was playing and not even paying attention on my work enough.Going forward,I will do all of my work first and play afterwards.

Regrets I know I will have this semester is procrastinating and idealism, because I have always struggled with these two self-made obstacles as a student. My procrastination arises when I am not motivated to do my work, which ultimately results in me having to stay up later and creating mediocre work. Occasionally I disfavor making mistakes, I want my work to be perfect or as near perfect the first time, this is idealism. When my mistakes are brought to my attention, I often become discouraged because I feel I shouldn't have made a mistake in the first place. To adjust moving forward from my regrets, I will try to find motivation, learn from my mistakes and try to become okay with failure because you have to fail in order to succeed.

One of my current regrets is procrastinating on things I could have finished earlier. I just think that I have all the time in the world to do work,so I just put it off. Then, when I find out that my time is limited that's when I start doing my work. I am starting to work on it, however I normally do my Mixed Ink on Mondays and today is Thursday so I don't think I'm making any progress. Eventually, I will stop putting things off for my laziness.

I also procrastinated too much, and in the end I may have gotten the work done but it looked bad. It started to give teachers the impression that I didn't care. I created things that normally would have been awesome and amazing. Though through my laziness ended up being pathetic and simple. Or even just plain trash.

Although I did procrastinate, my issue wasn't turning in work, but doing it last minute and not doing the best that I could. I used to always say that I do my best work under pressure, but this is a mentality that will not benefit me as a student. I have to learn to drop this mentality to become a more productive student.

Regrets are something no person should have. If any, an individual should learn how to grow from these so called regrets. Personally, I have very few regrets in life because at some point I wanted what I chose. I might have not chosen the right option, but I learn from my mistakes.

Now that I look at it, a person really should not have regrets. With all honesty, a person should grow from their mistakes, instead of being the same or being worse. As a matter of fact, looking through your lens, we say that regrets were decisions that we felt were right, at the time. In like manner, if I make mistakes, I do learn from them, but sometimes it takes time for me to completely learn from the mistake. Lastly, we should not think about regrets too much, because it can take away from the present life, that we have.

I regret procrastinating last semester , because I waited until the last minute to do all my work and everything piled up and was do the next day .So I start stressing and get all upset because of how much work I had to do .I Couldn't blame nobody but myself because it was my fault I waited last minute to do everything so I had take that punishment and do all that work . Also by me procrastinating all the time it made me lazy and my grades started dropping . So this Semester I know not to procrastinate and not have that lazy mentality anymore .

My biggest regret was time management, I was centering my attention too much on one thing at a time instead of spreading my time evenly among the things I had to complete. I messed up on staying on top of simple things and in the end they messed me up. Honestly I have felt like a bit of a disappointment to myself, my parents, my family name, and my passions. I hadn't pushed myself hard enough and I slipped, so much that even my mental state wavered. The adjustments I plan to make are improving my schedule so that I stop lacking. I also plan on pushing myself more on my passions, I had stopped writing, animating and drawing as much as I used to and slowly started feeling useless. I will push myself back into the swing of things as well as picking up on more on my academics as well as passions.

I. Florence 1st

Although it is not a regret of mine,I did not pay attention to time management at all, ultimately, resulting in me spending unnecessary time on assignments. For me, I like to focus on one thing at time until it is done and then I go on to the next assignment. Which was a bad idea, because I would sometimes forget about other assignments.Time management will definitely save me time and stress in the long run which is why I resonant with you. Now thinking about it, time management did not even cross my mind the whole semester.

Time management was one my biggest regrets my sophomore year. I occupy myself so much that I would stress myself out. I would forget to tell my parents where I was and they would forget to pick me up. I would stay up late at night to finish my school work. I was very stressed out, however this year I learned to just set reminders in my phone and to remember dates and times. Now I'm less stressed out and I get all my work done effectively.

Time management was also one of my biggest setbacks as a student. I feel like if I were able to find time to focus more on my schoolwork, my work would have been done better. The grades that I received made me disappointed, but I knew that end of the day it was my fault for not paying enough attention to my studies. I've learned to use my planner more often, which I know will benefit me in the long run.

Not trying best or putting my potential into my school work. Accepting C's instead of trying my best not to obtain them. Giving my all into something that awards me in the end. Losing great relationships with people that I am close with. What I'll do in the end is keep trying my best at tasks until it just come naturally. The regrets that I have about this past semester is how horrible my time management was, as well as my procrastination. I think that if I were to schedule my time better and do my work as it was assigned, I would have gotten better grades. Though, dwelling on my mistakes last semester won't help me grow as a student; what will help me is realizing my mistakes and learning from them. This will require me to focus on my work and keep track of what I'm doing and what needs to be done, whether that be keeping a calendar or setting alarms. I know that I will be able to stick to these goals as long as I stay committed and motivated to become a better student.

Theres so many things that I regret doing/not doing from this past year alone. However, the biggest regret I have is how much I've procrastinated not only my school work, but my life choices. Unfortunately, I'm mostly always sick. Because of this, on the days that I feel okay, I'm motivated to do absolutely nothing. My mind tells me that I 'deserve' the time off, even though I know I can be better than that. I regret not bettering my communication skills, because my ability to make new friends outside my own circle has fallen tremendously. I regret not striving hard enough not only for my grades, but for my health and for my family as well. Theres moments where I dit down, and let everything fall on me before I realize that I am a failure. I plan on making this year better for me; I'm going to work harder than I did last year, and set more goals for myself.

I’m going try to manage myself better but also understand myself better . The way you work is a reflection on yourself and you always have to show your best self . You have to constantly put your best foot forward and not in your mouth .

I feel the same way, I did everything I could but time managing is something I have to focus on.

I only have one regret... trying to hard and not having enough fun. Considering my situation, I tried so hard to keep my grades up so I wouldn't fail the 2nd semester. I stayed home all day, worked on homework all night and rushed finishing details in the morning. I completely forgot to go out and have fun and now that I physically can, I have responsibilities to focus on. Even though I can't and wouldn't want to go back, I will try to have fun with my new family. I will have a new type of fun.

I regret not doing my homework because it is the main reason my grades are how they are.I regret talking too much because I wasted most of my time doing it.I regret not obeying my teachers or respecting them because it is not who I am.I will try to focus more on my homework and obey my teacher in the future.

During this past semester I didn't achieve what I wanted. I regret procrastinating sometimes with work because giving the fact I was not doing my best my grades were a little bit low. This is my last semester in high school and I will do my best to accomplish what I have in mind.

One regret i had this past semester was procrastinating and not producing good quality work. Although i had a fair amount of time to complete my assignments, i always found myself completing them at the last minute and pulling multiple all-nighters. Moving forward, i will definitely keep distractions away and manage my time more wisely.

Right , I could never get my work done on time because I had too many distractions.

This past semester I had one regret . Which was using my time wisely . For instance, when I’m at home I’ll do everything else but my work because it’s like I forget about school sometimes . Now I try to convince myself to put my work first and all the extra later . I have gotten better with using my time wisely because I see how some of my late work was affecting me .

I feel the exact same way at times.I get home to late and just want to eat and sleep and forget or just don't want to do my homework. I feel like its better for me to do it the first time then to it the next time.

Same with me I use to just go home and not do anything because I didn’t feel like it, but once I noticed how bad it affected me grade I started doing my work and paying more attention.

Many say they live life without regret but is that certainly a valid statement? There was not one thing you wish you could’ve changed? For me personally outside of school, I regret going to the game I injured my knee. On the other hand, during school I regret wasting so much time on not progressing on my internal assessments or not taking my time with assignments given to me. As the day comes close to deadlines I am setting dates on my planner earlier than the due date to make sure I have everything I need by the due date. I am telling myself that this will all be worth it. If I don’t do it now, I will be in so much regret.

The regrets that I have about last semester was time management and procrastination. For example, I did not have a schedule of how I as going to do my assignments , when I got home. Another example, was me doing my work at the last minute, after having one or two whole days to do my work. With all honesty, to fix this time management problem, I am going to write a schedule of how my day should go. Now to fix procrastination, as soon as I get home, I am going to do my work, instead of waiting to do it at the last minute. Lastly, with these revisions, I am not going to end my junior year with regrets.

I honestly live with no regrets. To live with regrets is not truly living. Of course every decision I make isn't the best and there is always be room for improvement, but I use those unlikely experiences to progress as an individual. To move forward from a bad decision I examine where I faulted, tell myself that everyone make mistakes, and try to positively encourage myself to be better overall.

This year was my first year in high school. Everyday, I get closer to graduating and going to college. Recently, I noticed that I don't pay attention to what I'm doing now that will affect my future; I'm just going with the flow. I need to be more focused on what I'm doing now so I can have a bright future and I can make my parents happy. That's my main goal for 2018.

I agree, I'm to busy going with the flow with everyone else when I really should just get my work done the first time and not repeat anything.I mean who wants that.

Same thing here I would just flow the same way as everybody else, but I noticed that wasn’t getting me anywhere so I started flowing by myself and doing my on thing because I knew if I did that I would do better and I did do better.

There one thing my dad told me to not have in my live and that is regrets but sometimes you make choices in your life that you want to change. I regret some of the people I met and choose to be in my life because they distracted me and then left me sad and confused a frustracted, and that led to me being a terrible student. I also regret failing my biology class. I was really slacking off and doing bad and once I failed I started doing my work and it seem so easy once I started paying attention and doing my work more.I guess sometimes you have to go through something hard to become better for your self and as a person.

I don’t like to call them regrets i just like to change things, but if i have to i would regret some of the people i met because they were distracting me from getting my work done. Another thing i regret is how i acted myself because i wasn’t getting my work done and i just played around. Ways i can and will change this is to not talk to or sit by people that will distract me from doing my work and i will start paying attention, stop playing around, and get my work done so i can be successful.

I Have A Couple Regrets To Get Off My Chest. I Regret Playing Around In Class. Because I Am Really Smarter Then What I Am. I’ve Made One ( C ) On My Report Card This Whole Year, And It Was A 79. If It Wasn’t For Me Playing And Getting At My Teacher In Class I Would Have Had As & Bs. I Will Start Striving Forward By Not Messing Around And Just Do Me.

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.
