Now that you are seniors, you have choices to make that will impact your entire life leading up to and after graduation. Think about decisions that must be made. To or not to drink, do drugs, get pregnant, become criminal, be lazy, skip or attend college, socialize too much or not enough, work or not work, go to the workforce or military, become an entrepreneur or bum life out.

Instructions: Respond to the prompt by defending or challenging the assertion.

I agree with her about what she was saying. Every one should have fun but also think about their future. As she said you should have fun and think about future, this means that doing one doesn't mean disregarding the other. Even though you're having fun you can still be responsible. In my opinion this is what senior year is about.

I agree you should want your senior year to be your best year of high school but also you want to stay on top of everything . Really the best thing about your senior year is graduation and if you if you don't handle your business and the class that want happen. Every one has the right to choice what they want to do in life but if you want to be successful students must have that education . Sometimes the best lesson in life is from experience so it's best to learn from experience . A lot of that going to happen in college but first you got to get there first . As seniors must make the best decision for the future .

I agree with the prompt now that we are seniors we have a lot of responsibility to take on, it's time to start planning for our future. From this point out everything we do bad has consequences, that's why it's important to always be honest and make the right decisions. Of course as kids were gonna make mistakes, nobody's perfect but when you keep doing the same stuff over and over your not learning from your bad decisions. This is our last year in high school before we have to face the real world on our own. In order to make this a good successful year, I have to stay focused, keep my grades up and have a positive attitude.

I got to agree with my boy Darius as I was reading other people writing not a lot people put how choices come with consequences and every time you make a choice your gone have consequences the consequences of the choices you make can effect you in a good way in the long run or it can hurt you in the long run.

I agree that the choices you make do reflect on your future life .Sometimes you have to avoid certain things or people to make sure you make the right choice .It's been plenty situations where people been in the wrong place at the wrong time . As of now that we are seniors certain things can wait because if you do it right now , that decision you made could lead to an effect on your life to take another path and a rough journey . We all make mistakes but who are you to judge? Some people learn the harder way than other , so make sure you make the right choice for your life .

I agree with Darius about how kids do not learn from mistakes if they keep making the same decision over and over again, but I don't agree with how he makes it seem like your senior year is the only year that can mess you up when you can have bad decisions you made in the past grade levels build up and affect your whole senior year.

The life you have will be based on the choices you make depending on if they are good or bad. Bad choices will hunt you in the future, but good choices can make your life better. Your senior year is only the finish and if you made bad choices in your past grade levels then your senior year means nothing because you have dug a whole you can not get out of. Around graduation time there are always a few seniors who have their bad decisions catch up with them and stops them from getting to walk across the stage with their class. While others who do the right thing walk across and go off to start the second chapter of their life and have a chance to make it a good one.

I feel as if this post is saying life is what you make it. If you choose positive choices you'll have a positive outcome. If u make poor choices you'll have the same outcome. You can't hang with a group of negative people & not expect they're energy to rub off one you. Life IS what you make it. Poor choices become poor outcomes but I don't necessarily agree that hanging with negative people could result you in the same aspect of those people you associate yourself with. You chose what you want— not anybody else. It's as if you saying because your parents are snobs, you have to be one also. No, it doesn't work like that.

Being my senior year every choice i make will impact my life. I have no room for error, I can either make my life a disaster or further myself on a journey to success. Every action has a consequence some more harsh than others but i will make it my duty to make decisions that only benefit me. The things i do now will affect me for the rest of my life and who wants to have a horrible life over one bad decision? No one.

I agree with Jessica, you're your own person and nobody can control you. One big mistake can mess up your entire life all because you didn't make a wise choice. Making decisions my senior year should not be so hard as others make it seem. We are old enough to know what's right from wrong. This is my 12th year in school, I should be prepared for what I want in life by now or at least an ideal of what I want for my future. All choices I decide to make will soon affect my future in the long run. It could be good or bad. But it's up to me whether I want to make the right or wrong choice, which I want and will make smart and good decisions this year and for the rest of my life. Life is what you make it.

All we see and hear students saying that senior year is going to be hard but why have that idea that it is? It shouldn't be hard because the decision you're going to make are for the good and accomplish the goals that you have set for yourself. Now that I am a senior I now realize the things I used to do and think was okay does impact a good/bad impression on myself. I am very careful now in everything I say and do and who I am around also play a huge factor, because there are some people who are more attentive than they should be. I want to be the one to break the cycle in my family and go to college to pursue my goals and build my dream home. I have several examples in my life today of good people who made wrong decisions and it still shows today in their adult years. There is so much I yearn for and want to do in life and the last thing I want to do is disappoint myself. So I will stay focused and pray, no ones perfect but I won't make any life altering decisions that won't impact my life in a good way. LIFE has only just begun.

Making decisions my senior shouldn't be as hard as it seems. I feel that I am of age to know the do's and do not's. I also feel that is you make a dad decision you senior and jeprodise your senior activities then I am oh so very sure that you knew exactly what you we're doing and knee the consequences. By your senior year you should know exactly what you want to do in life or at least know if you want to attend college and what college you want to attend. Now that I am a senior I can no longer be playing around in class and wait for the last minute to do an assignment. I have to keep my grades up so I will have a stress free senior year. I Had a long time to look in what career path and what college I want to attend but now I realized that this year has finally came and I've never got to it but now I have to really be on top of my game. Find what career I want to get in so I can be something in life.

Omg yes procrastination is the worst thing you can do in school it really shows itself at the end of the year because you'll be trying to do all of this work to make up for the things you didn't get to because you kept putting it off. In my opinion i feel that you can have a good time your senior year, but don't let that becomes your first priority. It's like having to take care of your bills but you want to go shopping too, well you should pay your bills first. Dont go for what you want all the time go for what you need because you need more than you want. So you can have fun but make sure your work is done at the end of the day first because that's what's going to show, that hard work you competed shows that you deserve to have some fun.

School is not a place for socializing and telling what's been going on in your life. School is a place to learn and to be able to get a education, so your able to go to college and be someone in your life. Now don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong about having fun or having friends, but this your senior year and you have to make it count. There's is a time where you need to calm down and focus on your work. If your friends are stopping you from doing what you need to do in order to graduate then that means you need to disconnect yourself from them and focus on yourself. I disagree with Tanesha school is a place to socialize and gain those important social skills and students who are deprived from that become less likely to succeed in my eyes. If someone is allowing there friends to stop them from graduating they need to blame themselves not their friend, because a person knows what he/she needs to do in order to ensure there success. Before entering my Senior year, I made a promise to myself that I would stay organized and always put my priorities first. Senior Year shouldn't be all about academics and stressing, I understand that, but sometimes you have to do some stressing to get where you want to be in life. I agree with the quote given, its basically talking about Karma, which I strongly believe in. Karma helps me think twice about what I say, do, and how I live. Staying positive can change your outlook on life, and its helps me stay mentally and physically joyous about myself and others. Also, sometimes being positive can help you make challenging decisions at times. If you know that something will hurt you in the end then you obviously need to take two steps back, no matter how amazing it seems right now. This is the time where we make everything count, there are no more excuses when everything is put right in front of you.

I believe in life everything happens for a reason. The reason you are in the place that you are now is because of one of the decisions you made in the past. Going in to my senior year I need to make cautious and very well thought out decisions so that my future can be bright. I wish I could change some of the decisions I made without thinking about the consequence. You also have to be willing to take risk on some decisions so you can have a greater outcome.

Now that i am a senior I realized that its time for me to be responsible for all my wrong doing. My decision that i make can affect my whole family and the people i surround myself with. We are young adults you know what you need to do to graduate. We have waited to long to be skipping class,fighting and pretending that you do not care about your future. During the summer I made up some goals for my senior year. I planned to be able to balance having fun and focusing on my school work. As I got older and more mature enough I started to understand what's really important to me as a person my worse fear is for me to be un successful in life . because I believe that every choice that we make now can either negatively or positively affect us for the rest of our lives. In our senior year of high school we should be mature enough to understand when there's a time to play and when there's a time to be serious. Life is a long hard journey one bad decision can make a huge impact on your life forever. It seems like all my life I've been waiting to grow up but now that it's here I wish I could go back in time. The more I age the more the decisions I make seem to affect my life and not just in small ways. I do believe that we have the power to change our life's. If there's something we don't like about it then we should strive to change it. In the end we'll see that all the hard work paid off. I think that you are in control of all the decisions you make a. Although, because its your life and your mind nobody should control what you choose or want to do. In other cases, you are the one who has to live the life you make choose. People can choose to bad or do good in life because nobody knows what goes through people minds. For instance if you were to drop out right now, by you making that bad decision you won't be able to go to college , you won't be able to get a high paying job!! I must say I do agree with Ameir everyone's actions do play a big role in there life's. If someone wants to live the " good life" then they would need to make good decisions. What ever you put in to something that's what your going to get out. If you waste your whole senior playing then you probably won't graduate, but if you take time to actually do your work and try your best then there's a possibility that great things will happen. My senior year my goal is to Stay focused on finishing out the year strong and keep my grades up, most of all making good decisions. As a young boy I always dreamed of my life being awesome. Not making choices leading to that awesome life school started to fall out of my reach. I had to grab it before it was to late. Around freshman year I realized that I was the only person standing in the way of my dreams coming true. To change that I started to that I started to take school more serious. The hardest part about school is balancing your social and your academic life. In college I can only imagine it to be 10 times worse than it is in high school, but it can be done. Everything in a persons life will always be a reflection of their actions. For example this man name Eric when he was in high school he was very smart, had all the girls wanting to be with him, and he graduated with high honors. Well the army wanted to recruit him because they felt like he would be a big help in serving the country. When he went take the test he passed, but he got hooked on to drugs. That messed up his opportunity to do a lot of things colleges was looking at him. He could have went to the NFL and would've been a pro, but based off his actions and poor decision making he ruined his chances. Now Eric is a bum and depending on people to help him. If he would've been smarter about his actions and remained humble through his high school years Eric would be living the lifestyle he really wanted. During our lifetime every decision makes an impact in our lives, the small ones and big ones. The older I get, more responsibilities pile up with the freedom I'm given. Whether I decide to take a risky shortcut to school or take the safe route, whether I decide to try out for soccer each year or not, it all makes me who I am. Things lead up to each other in chain reactions and after graduation the smallest things will be able to change everything. Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought.
