The wrinkles on his forehead and a slight opening in his mouth seems to show that he is having too many thoughts in his mind that he is trying to express his feelings out. His eyes also shows that he feels uncomfortable. The hands grabbing his head and face signifies that he cannot speak out, which may represents a certain class of people that do not have the chance for their voices to be heard.

Eve (English 11 B)

It is true that people of different classes have different privileges and some of the lower classes don't even have those opportunities. In the picture, the guy seems to be forced to be silent, as he might be in the lower class where he couldn't speak out much.

His facial expressions show that he is having plenty of thoughts in his mind as you indicated that his eyes also present in a panic or uncomfortable feeling. The hands that are grabbing his face making him unable to speak out for his thought.

I think that same as you because the man was tormented from sight but cant do anything. Kind of like born to be a slave.

I really like how you connected the inability to speak up, the powerlessness (as I used in my own post), to the less fortunate social class. I saw the same in this picture, the man being tormented from the sight but unable to do anything against the restraining hands.

In the past people see the importance of ranking, the lower rank people don't have a choice of their own. Especially the slave, if you are born as a slave you will not be able to speak for yourself. There is a lot of inequality in the world but luckily things faded when time passed.

Mars (English 11 Block B)

I agree with the point that you have made as that is practically the same idea that I have in my mind. I believe the story is about someone trying to speak out, perhaps a call for help to others, but then the others are holding him back, stifling him. I do like the overall conclusion that you have made though, I haven't thought about it much when I first typed out my response.

Pro (english)

I do not agree with your first statement because i don't see how hands symbolize knowledge. However, I agree that his eyes appear uncomfortable

Eve (English 11 B)
12/2/2020 01:57:46 pm

The guy in the picture seems to be uncomfortable and anxious since he’s staring hard at something and he looks worried. The hands covering his face and pushing him down represents that he doesn’t have the power to say and he was forced to be silent. Moreover, the black and white color also makes the picture look more realistic and stressful.

Kati English 12 Block F
12/2/2020 05:02:53 pm

I agree that the tone color of the picture is a factor that makes it look even more convincing that he is anxious but is forced to remain silent by those hands.

Aurora (AP Research Block A)
12/4/2020 07:23:43 pm

I agree that the individual is "forced to remain silent by those hands" since he was forced to remain still. I can tell since the scared and troubled look in his wide eyes tells me that he is troubled. It seemed to me that he was forced to do something that he dislikes and is unable to escape. es add on, the author is trying to express a situation and his emotions by displaying this anxious and uncomfortable picture with a gloomy atmosphere.

Tonhom (Eng11/B)
12/2/2020 06:16:25 pm

The picture looks anxious and he looks very worried. The black and white colour of the picture is also very important because it has a lot of effects on the picture and our perception where it makes the picture become more depressed.

Copter 12 Eng

I also think that way, the tone and mood of picture are black and dark. That tells the sadness and the feeling not confident.

Arly (English 11 Block B)
12/3/2020 12:42:56 am

I also think that black and white colors gives different feelings for the photo, which the colors tells that the feelings is not lively. I also relate the hands covering his face to the power of speaking as well.

Beryl (AP Research)
12/3/2020 05:08:54 pm

The first thing I noticed when I saw the picture is the worry and anxiety on the man's face too. It's a picture that automatically puts an unsettling feeling in your stomach, in my opinion.

vivi (english 11 block h)
12/4/2020 09:38:27 pm

I can see how it’s delivered you a message of uncomfortableness and anxiousness of the man in the photo. With the color of the image itself already shows that it’s not really a happy thing, rather than a memory. The hands covering his mouth can also be seen as forcing the man to quiet, that, I agree.

The picture looks kind of creepy and seems to be stressful. The hands that are crawling on his face might be representing anxiety, problems, or stress that’s creeping in his head. So his facial expressions are expressing his fearfulness and panic.

Kati English Block F

He must be struggling with all the problems you listed. I also feel that there is stress that's creeping in his head, and he is showing it out through his facial expressions.

Eve (English 11 B)
12/2/2020 06:01:25 pm

If the hands represent his problems and struggles, he may come across or see something that causes those hands to crawl on his face and it makes him fear and anxiety which we can see through his face.

Tonhom (Eng11/B)
12/2/2020 06:24:39 pm

The picture looks very stressful. For me, the hands that are crawling on his face also represent the pressure he had from other people and it makes him panic and fear.

Mars (English 11 Block B)
12/4/2020 08:56:50 am

I like the way you interpret the situation differently than the way I interpret it. I haven't really thought of the hand as a symbol of "anxiety, problems, or stress", so that is definitely interesting for me. But I also have some similar point with yours like his face expressions were expressing his fearfulness and panic.

vivi (english 11 block h)
12/4/2020 09:40:25 pm

I noticed how the photo can come off as creepy, but as you look deeper there can be a lot of meaning that different people can interpret it dependig on how they see. I also found it a little creepy because of all the hands covering his face, showing only a few parts with wide-opened eyes. His eyes and mouth shows fear.

Kati English 12 Block F
12/2/2020 04:59:15 pm

The image shows a picture of a man with multiple hands pulling his eyes and mouth opened. It seems like he is struggling with anxiety and would like to convey a message but is unable to. In life, there will always be times like this where you would like to say something but your voice isn’t heard.

Kurt English 12 Block F
12/2/2020 07:38:23 pm

He must have been stressful from having to deal with the inability to get people to listen to his words. That may explain his anxiety. His facial expressions also show us that he is desperate to convey a message to all of us but is struggling.

Leah (English 11 Block H)
12/2/2020 07:57:05 pm

What would be a potential solution to break free from such problems in life? Like the fingers in the image, they seem fairly easy to pry off, yet, at the back of my thoughts, also difficult to completely get rid of.

Som (English Block E)

This is true that sometimes one small voice cannot be heard by the entire crowd. However, if we convey the message loud enough, then maybe our voice will be heard.

Sinny (AP Research Block A)

Mark
12/6/2020 10:53:28 pm

although I like your view on this image, why do you say that he is struggling to be heard? I think he is watching a show and he accidentally stepped on a pin, which resulted in him shouting so the people at the back had to shut his mouth.

Tonhom (Eng11/B)
12/2/2020 05:56:03 pm

The picture looks stressful, and anxious. It seems to be shown about a person who gets a lot of pressure from other people in which the hands represent the pressure on him. The pressure is in every direction and he is full of anxiety from it.

Leah (English 11 Block H)
12/2/2020 08:01:49 pm

The person also seems to wear an expression of bewilderment. His eyes are wide open, yet doesn't portray any hints of sadness. Could this sense of shock be a result of anxiety, guilt, anger, or something else?

Arly (English 11 Block B)
12/3/2020 12:50:46 am

This man do look very stressful, which must be from the pressure he've got from many things or person. I also think that the more the hand is squeezing his face, that represents the more pressure he'll get.

Ping (English 12 Block F)
12/3/2020 11:35:19 am

Mim #3378 (Eng 11 Block H)
12/3/2020 11:19:15 pm

I like when you said that the man get a lot of pressure from other people in every direction. In the picture, the man bites the fingers which seems like he is trying to get out of this stressful situation and get rid of the pressure from outside.

Jacky
12/2/2020 06:46:06 pm

The person in this photo seems to be under some type of pressure, I think the many hands symbolize society pressuring the individual, looks like he's trying to ask for help, but the crushing pressure isn't allowing him to. This picture represents many individuals in today's society, having issues that can't be shared, as they would be judged.

March(English 11 BlockB)
12/2/2020 06:56:16 pm

The colors in the picture could also symbolize stress and pressure. In a monotone picture some times it just made the picture feel sad. With black and white, it could represent the lack of hope in people today.

Sean (English 11 B)

Myra (English 12 Block E)
12/2/2020 08:44:30 pm

I like your perception of this picture, as you connected what you saw with problems in our society. I agree with the fact that society is often pressuring and suffocating, as seen in the world we live in today. I think that society's pressure was depicted in this picture really well, if that was what the picture was trying to show.

ken (english F)
12/3/2020 09:45:45 pm

I Think that what you said he is trying to ask for help is coming from his eyes. His eyes are crying out of fear and anger.

Sean (English 11 B)
12/2/2020 06:48:46 pm

In the picture, it looks like the man is having something holding him back. His facial expression shows that he wants to get rid of the hand and be free. But there are too many hands holding him back. The hands are squeezing and wrapping around his head tight. He might be anxious or depression is holding him back, or maybe he wants to do something, but something is holding him back.

March(English 11 BlockB)
12/2/2020 07:04:45 pm

Maybe the picture is not trying to show that the hands are holding him back maybe it's showing something way darker. Maybe the man could be a psychopath and all the hand that is holding him back are the hands of his previous victims. The hand might represent guilt and the monotone might symbolize his mortally slowly fading away.

Praew (AP Lang)

I agree with you that he is currently stressed out and depressed. This is because his nervous and wide open eyes tells me that something is pressuring him (forcing him to take action). Additionally, the wrinkles on his face tells me that he is stressed and feeling anxious about the situation.

Joseph English 11 Block B
12/2/2020 07:08:39 pm

The man in the photo looks alarmed, anxious and nervous. The photo reflects the anxiety of him, which means something is might struggling the man. It might be an image from his dream. People annoyed the man so much which the situation of the image happened in his dream again.

That man from the photo looks like he is under serious psychological condition. From his face, it seems like he is struggling to contain himself. From the hands, it seems like the hands want this man to take a look at something that may be disgusting or full of bad memories.

Jimmy (English 11 Block H)
12/2/2020 10:24:36 pm

I like how you went with the different approach saying that he's struggling within, rather than external forces. Internal struggle could be worse than external struggles, as it'll lead to split personality. The multiple hands holding him back, can be evidence indicating it's his split personality controlling him.

Henry English 12 Blk E
12/3/2020 08:36:26 am

I like how you see that he could be under psychological condition, that's something I didn't think of. I also like another observation that you made, which is where you mentioned the man is trying to contain himself. That could show how the hands are actually trying to help him contain himself, rather than torturing him.

Sinny (AP Research Block A)
12/4/2020 05:04:14 pm

I think it makes a lot of sense in your point about forcing the man to look at his bad memories. There was a deep fear in the man's eyes in the picture, and I could feel that he wanted to escape. I have no idea what he saw, but it was definitely something that made him uncomfortable.

Chon Lin
12/6/2020 10:52:22 pm

Your thought process are very interesting. From the first glance I wouldn't think that he is under a serious psychological condition. I would just think that it is the type of photo that makes you think and figure out the meaning of itself.

Leah (English 11 Block H)
12/2/2020 07:52:14 pm

That man appears to have a receding hairline. As such conditions linked to balding are often associated with stress, this person is likely to be currently going through hardships. If so, it certainly isn't wise for him to consider biting a potential solution to conquer the obstacle.

Myra (English 12 Block E)
12/2/2020 08:47:28 pm

I really liked how you noticed the little details and made inferences out of that. There is an amusing sense of humor as well as regard for the serious side of this problem in your post and I think that's splendid. I am, however, a little confused about what you mean by biting a potential solution. Do you see the hands as a potential solution?

Felicia (English 11 Block B)

12/2/2020 08:49:51 pm

His eyes and mouth forced open by the hands of several faceless men, seemingly clawing into his skin. The image represents madness, the hair pulling, finger biting, and face stretching, all common actions usually seen in those having a mental breakdown. The man's seeing something cruel and vile but forced to watch, also symbolising how powerless people can be sometimes, and how that eventually drives them crazy.

Jimmy (English 11 Block H)
12/2/2020 10:07:37 pm

I like how you attributed being forced to watch to being powerless. That is what happens in everyday life. Just like how someone who witness bullying may not have the power within themselves to stop it.

Brendon (AP research Block A)
12/3/2020 06:47:22 pm

Your response is very interesting, you're the first comment I saw saying something about being forced into madness, I think your interpretation is very unique. I like how you added it "symbolize how powerless people can be sometimes", in this context the hands could represent abuse of power and tyranny as well.

Jimmy (English 11 Block H)
12/2/2020 09:54:32 pm

The expression this man is making, indicates that he's uncomfortable, facing conflict or something that's horrendous, causing him to make that face. The hands prying his face open, could mean that it's not his choice to face this madness, he's forced to witness the atrocity. He's also gagged by the hands, indicating he cannot speak against this violence.

Mulan 3415 Eng11 BlockH
12/2/2020 10:39:53 pm

Moreover, as I start to inspect the image a bit closer, I would assume that the hands covering the man's face are a woman's. The way the hands has holding the man shows that the man want to get out of the situation. But, the man's emotion that is shown on his face can also show that he is scared. The way the hand was in the man's mouth and the his eye open wide can represent how he is scared and can't speaks.

I also think the person is in a state of fear. The fear of judgement by others would destabilize the person's mental state. Other people define the person more than they themselves do. Societal expectations and norms have more of an effect on a person's personal opinions and perspective.

The picture shows a man face crawled by hands. The man's worried face represents how one could be suffering from anxiety and problems that he may go through. We could also see he had his mouth opened, which represents that he's trying to convey a message, but the society (the hands) doesn't allow him to.

I agree with this, and I also think this is a good explanation. The man does look oppressed, or even scared to express himself. I think your idea of "call for help" is really interesting

Its so true that it seems like the hand surrounding him is preventing him to do so since it looks very tense.

I have the same feeling and idea about this image as you. The man seems to be experiencing fear while trying to escape from the "hands". This is as if, the hands are controlling him and taking away his freedom to act or speak freely.

After carefully observing the image, I can sense that the author is trying to convey an emotional message to the audience. The wrinkles on the individual's face and the anxious eyes told me that he is being forced and pressured to do something unethical. Additionally, the author's message displays the unfairness of society such as inequality.

Your thought is quite deep and I like it. It is very interesting how you think this picture might portray life or death. This is the best comment here.

Suffocating from those hands, I feel like the man is struggling to have his voices heard. With his facial expression showing how uncomfortable and struggling he is, this might portray life or death. With his eyes opened, it also shows stress.

His facial expression can really tell us a lot. His wide eyes really show the stress and things that he might be going through.Which may be caused by the things he’s going through.

your response is very visual and clear, I like how you view this image in a different light. You don't just look at the surface, but actually dig deep into it and found what the image represented to you.

The man has his eyes opened wide and looking terrified, with his mouth stuffed and his eyes forced to be open. The hands are holding him back but at the same time covering his face, which I think symbolizes the lost of identity. This represents the society nowadays where you eventually lose yourself and your own identity over other people's opinions (the hands).

This person is trapped by their own thoughts and the hands each represent different things that are trapping the person. This person looks scared with all the hands trapping him and he is unable to break free from the hands because they are all grabbing him so tightly. I think this image is telling us to not overthink or we are going to end up like this person.

The picture shows a man with eyes wide opened, hands digging through his wriggle face and stuffing his mouth. This illustration symbolized anxiety and the feelings of being trapped inside. The hands digging through his face and stuffing his mouth could represent the society stopping him or pressure him not to say something out.

The man in the picture looks fearful and terrified. The hands are forcing him to see things that reminded him of the bad memories. I think he is trying his best to overcome his fear.

The man in this image seems been controlled by others hands. I can feel his anxiety from his face. The tone of this picture is using high contrast with black and white, it makes the feeling of the anxiety stronger.

Your artistic interpretation has given a new depth to this picture. I at first only thought to look at the picture for its subject matter. However, after reading your comment I am able to see the components that make up the whole.

This picture when looking at make me feel uncomfortable. The hand that is squeezing the man face make me feel like there are some sort of tension in this picture. The color of the picture also reminds me of worries.

Michelle (AP Research Block A)

The man in the picture looks nervous. There are many hands covering his face and pushing him down, this makes me feel that he is experiencing pressure where doesn’t have the power to speak or act with his own will. The picture is colorless, which makes the atmosphere heavier and stressful.

I like how you relate to the real world. I understand that it's very tough when we have no power to speak or act with own will.

In a literal sense we see that the man is having hands on him and most likely holding him back. However, we can also interpret this as the man feeling that the people around him are holding him back. That he is afraid how the people who are close to him do not actually have his best interest in mind.

The man is being controlled by many hands. I can feel intense anxiety in this picture. The wrinkles on his forehead, eyes, and slight opening in mouth seem to show that he is very worries..

The man shows that he is in fear. From what I see, I think he is going through a situation that is straining and hard. It might also show internal conflict where he is struggling because there are too many expectations from other people.

From the image, I can tell that he is being forced by a lot of people to do things that he doesn't want to. I can feel that he is very stressed and is currently in a huge amount of pressure. His facial expression shows anxiety, tension, and frustration. I think that he is also forcing himself to go through things despite his true intention.

From what I saw in the picture. I know that it kind of sad because the tone and color they use express. It can feel the stressed and lot of pressure. I think that it look like a men that get force to do something. Or he might be a slave.

I agree with you because from the colour tone in the picture, we can see that it represents stressed and tension. To add on, the hands pushing him down can also be shown as him getting controlled or forced.

When I look at the image, I feel disgusted because of how many fingers the man has around his face. I also feel sad and concerned, since maybe he is getting held back. I also felt intimidated by the hands since I could be the one those hands grab next.

I agree with you because when I first look at this picture, I also didn't like what I saw. It's scary to me and I feel sad and concerned for the man in the picture as well.

In the picture above, the man looks worried and uncomfortable. There are hands pushing him down and he is biting his nails. As you can see, he also has many wrinkles on his forehead and that shows that he is stressed and anxious about something.

I agree that his physical appearance is unpleasant. Wrinkles usually come with stress and stressed out people tend to age quicker.

In the picture above, the man looks mortified and anxious. I can tell because his eyes are wide open in shock, he is biting his nails, and he has prominent dark circles. There are also hands pushing him down, which I assume symbolizes life obstacles and hardships.

I would say that the man in the picture is being stopped from trying to express or say something. The man's face seems to be scared and tortured. This reminds me of the past, where students might not be able to show their feelings and ideas, but to only feel what they are supposed to feel.
