I feel like people's races should not have a factor in who gets the job in the college offices. I feel as if there is not enough diversity in the programs at college and more needs to be picked so we can have a chance. The courts should have a rule to make if fair for all races to have a fair chance at getting that role in different college admissions.

I dont understand why we still struggle with racism in america today. As you can see it causes problems such as schools presumably only accepting certain races into their school etc. The whole U.S. should come together and try to get rid of racism all together at this point.

I would like to come out and say I do not agree with what Harvard is doing, but i must say for over years the Asian American population has been dominating the colored population when it comes to higher education. Asian Americans has the highest percentage of people that make it into Harvard. i would understand if Harvard was trying to keep that percentage down. Because there is a U.S. law stating there has to be a certain amount of colored students attending the school. So with doing that it takes about a hand full of Asian American students off the roster each is not fair for nobody but the law is the law people of color had to fight to get into schools like Harvard just as the Asian Americans are now I feel bad this is happening to them but everyone deserves a chance at higher education.

I believe race is something that should not be a factor when considering for roles in college offices. Schools should not judge others based on the color of their skin but rather their academic prowess. Diversity is something every school should strive to have as it shows everybody despite the color if their skin has their own individual strengths. As a by product it encourages kids around the world that they can strive to attend a top school like Harvard.

To be honest, race has nothing to do with someone's smarts. It does not determine whether you're academically eligible or not. I thought the whole reason affirmative action was put into place was to prevent schools from intentionally not accepting black and brown students due to their own biases. Apparently Asians tend to have higher test scores, but low enrollment rates. Im not sure if the reason behind that is because of affirmative action or is something else... honestly I don't even know what I'm talking about.

Joshua Deleon 2A

The article completely tells us how Harvard has tried to factor in ethnicity and color into decision making in students. But this doesn't determine a persons smarts, They are still doing this in 2022 and although many protests have occurred racism still plays a role in student selection.

it's unfair that your ethnicity can limit or rob you out of many opportunities. Unfortunately race plays a big role in society today, and because of that it causes stereotypes to be made about races. The article has made me aware of how terrible it is for a minority or diverse people to get jobs, and go to college. People of America should not have to worry about whether they get into a school due to their race especially because we live in the most diverse society of all time. Being a minority should honestly help you get into school and jobs just to normalize the difference in people. Normalizing differences in people and things in society will be the best benefit especially in colleges so i agree and stand for the people protesting for their rights.

Affirmative action has some good points, but the bad ultimately outweighs the good. The fact that people would even think that it's okay to take race into consideration when approving for education disappoints me. What they dont know is that it is hurting the asan american community that are trying to be accepted into these colleges. These colleges choose what type of diverstity they want in there so the racial hierachy push what they want to have. I am disappointed but definitely not surprised to hear about what Harvard's been doing. I don't agree with it and believe they shouldn't be worried about someones race when they're considering accepting people into their school. I hope they decide to stop "taking race into consideration."

I'm not surprised that this happened at Harvard. Harvard has had a history of these kinds of things in the past and for decades. Race has nothing to do with the work force and it should not affect who all gets a job or not.

I agree with you because if somebody wants to get a job they can no matter what race they are. You are stopping someone from making money and the people behind all of this should be embarrassed or ashamed. I wouldn't wish this on nobody but sadly in the world we live today this is how people get treated.

When it comes to the work space the skin color of a person does not determine their level of education. Also doesn’t determine if they should or shouldn’t be accepted into a certain college. These people are very brain-dead if they think a person of color has no purpose in this world. Diversity is what is needed more and our society will see a big shift in education.

This article makes me angry because why is a college is taking race into consideration as a factor in admissions. This is so disrespectful and I feel like the people that are allowing this should get fired. I wouldn't want to go to a races school because why are you treating people of different races differently. Its not fair for the ones who can't pick and choose what they wanna do.

I do not believe what Harvard has been doing is ok. Discrimination against one’s race or ethnicity should not be allowed in a college front office. Someone needs to get this under control because discrimination should not be a thing in the field of education.

I believe race shouldn't effect our opportunities, It plays no major role in education. Race is nothing but a different look, not at all a disability or makes anyone actually different.

I think that people in the office shouldn't be able to give a job to a person just because of their race. Makes no sense in my opinion because their could be a person of color with more classification for things but they'll still hire and different race just because their race. I hope race eventually doesn't determine if you get accepted into college or get a job.

Races have been put to use in the wrong ways, Races should never be in the category for education, it shouldn't be in any category really. Education is where you should learn not where you should be discriminated and feel like you don't belong. Schools should focus on education and making the students better not on their races.

    Mixed Ink

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.
