The picture that I choose was the picture with a women in green mask. I think that the photographer motivation for taking that picture’s the doctor and people working in the hospital. Who risk their life to save other. Just by looking at the picture I can feel a sense of worry and tiredness from it. I think that the photographer took the picture this way to represent and shows the doctor and nurses that we understand them and appreciate them. It’s very stressful especially during this time since doctor and nurses are the front line people who really help with the pandemic. This image is very important since we shouldn’t forget who sacrifice their time and well-being to safe other’s well being.

The woman does really show that she is tried from her work. Which could show that she is working in a hospital since that is where it is very exhausting plus the Covid 19 cases it could really make somebody tried.

I agree with you that individuals are feeling tired due to Covid 19. I would like to add on that the author is trying to emphasize to the communities that protections (such as wearing a mask) is really important to stop Covid 19. The picture of the nurses wearing mask allow readers to understand the importance of helping the community by following the guidance and rules. It can be shown that the author really wants to put an end to Covid 19

The photographer does show the melancholy and tiredness of the nurse well. The reflection of the window gives off a sense of loneliness and isolation, showing how hard it is for medical workers. Additionally, the model also has a solemn look which further proves the photographer's point.

As we look at the image, we can feel that she is tired and worried from this pandemic. People of the front lines are sacrificing themselves to save other people, so we have to be thankful for them, appreciate them and help them by taking very good care of ourselves to lighten the load for the heroes of the front lines.

From looking at the image, I can see the hardship medical workers go through during this pandemic. The medical workers have to work in the front lines and has to stay away from their loved ones for their safety. This shows why we should all be thankful to the medical workers.

Being doctor or nurse is really stressful. Doctors and nurses are sacrificed their life for helping others. I also think that the photographer shoot the photo this way to not let us forget who is the real hero that helping us during this time. We should respect them.

I chose the picture with many janitors wearing masks. I think that the photographer chose to take the image this way to represent what we have been through in 2020. This year is a hard year for everyone from the fire in Australia to the pandemic forcing everyone into lockdown. There are many challenges and people have to adapt. Yet, even if the janitors were wearing the mask, we can still see the strong feelings that were behind the masks. The think the photographer chose to include masks in the picture because it has already became an integral part of out lives and it has become a symbol of 2020.

Kati English 12 Block F

I totally agree that year 2020 has been tough for everyone in all kinds of jobs, including business man, students, and even janitors. However, it is important that we must learn how to cope with it and still move on with our lives.

Arly (English 11 Block B)

I also think that wearing masks are included in the daily routine of our lives in 2020. But many people could adapt to the challenges, which they are also encouraging and supporting other people as well.

The mask has become a part of people's daily life and when people talk about 2020, people would think about Covid-19 and people wearing mask. At first, people were not able to adapt, however slowly, people were able to adapt. Even though it may seem hard at first, but eventually people were able to get use to this kind of life.

Along with the caption and the image, I can feel that the janitors are willing to sacrifice themselves for other people who really need help. Since they are wearing masks, we can tell that this image is taken in the year 2020 due to COVID-19. So the people in the image are willing to fight the virus and help other people to go through it together.

I totally agree that face mask has become a symbol of 2020. There were many terrible things happened in 2020 and the worst one is the COVID-19 which had taken away million of people's lives. The pandemic created difficulties for all of us. The only thing we can do to help contain COVID-19 is to wear mask.

The picture that intrigues me the most is a picture of a man with a mask on, holding a camera. It seems like he’s a police who has to fight in the front lines. So he’s being exposed to the virus a lot, and it increases the possibility of him receiving the coronavirus. According to the quote, I think it is trying to convey the message that policemen’s biggest fear is that they’ll bring the coronavirus home with them and spread it to their family. The photographer’s motivation for shooting the image is to let readers feel sympathetic to these police officers. By looking at this image, we can say that it represents 2020, because the man is wearing a mask, and the COVID-19 is the biggest pandemic we’ve had in decades.

Arly (English 11 Block B)

I think that many people are also afraid to spread the virus to their loved ones as well. But everyone including nurses, doctors, policemen, and other people are still fighting against this virus, because they don't want to be separated from people that they love.

Those people who are fighting against Covid-19 in the front line are risking their life for the greater good. Even though those people would miss and are scared of dying sometimes, but they chose to put that aside and fight. For my whole life, the Covid-19 is the deadliest virus that I have encounter.

After looking at the picture, I can sense that the photographer is trying to give their audience a sense of unease and urgency. This is through the use of the sharp contrast between the bright red and bright yellow.

The picture that seems the most interesting is the one where several individuals are wearing mask and holding a trash bag. I believe the message that the picture is conveying is that those people are the representatives that work in hospitals to treat patients with Covid-19. They are like the front line of humanity against a virus that is rapidly spreading around the world. Since in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic occured world wide, this picture is the perfect representation of how our world is going on today.

I agree with you that this message is trying to get us to wear a mask but I think there's also more to it. Ever since wearing masks become an important for all of us, people start wearing it but they do not throw away the masks at the right location, which is the trash bin. I believe that the bags that people are holding in the picture are the stuffs with germs and it is to let us know that masks should be thrown at the right place, not just randomly throw it on the floor. Children who pick it up may even receive COVID-19 just through hand contact. I believe there's a reason the quote refers specifically to kids, which is because they have no idea that germs or COVID-19 can be contracted through contact.

The picture that intrigues me the most is the picture of Joe Biden. I think the photographer's motivation for shooting that image is because people all over the world, especially Americans who have been waiting for this day. The whole world is talking about the election, and can't wait for the results to come out. The image was taken the way it is to show Joe Biden's determination in his eyes. The caption said the picture was taken when Joe Biden speaks to his supporters. Through the close up image of his face, we can see the happiness, confidence, and how grateful he is to earn the position of being a president. It is important enough to represent 2020 because Biden's election is representing America's new start. The presidential election was a massive event in 2020 and definitely one that could turn the tables. A race and a competition to see which person would lead the world's most powerful nation forward (or backwards) for the next four years. Due to America's long lasting influence over the rest of the world, the person leading the United States happens to be one of the most powerful people in the world, whether they use that power for good or bad is another story all together.

I chose the 6th picture with janitors wearing masks. In my opinion, the photographer's motivation for shooting that image was to show how crucial this year have been with the whole covid-19 situation. The Image that intrigues me the most is the middle picture in the second row. I chose this because I think that one big thing in 2020 is the Hongkong protest. The motivation that I got from the photo is that these people who try to fight for freedom who we don't know their faces but their voices are impactful enough catch attention all over the world. The mono tone color can show the dark grey world we are living in. The woman is representing the people who are standing up against the government.

The protest in Hong Kong that happened in 2020 is a representation of one of many protests that have happened in the year. It illustrates people's drive for freedom. Arly (English 11 Block B)
12/14/2020 10:02:55 am

I chose the picture that has 6 women wearing masks and holding bags that has food inside. I think that the photographer's motivation for shooting that image is because he/she wants to show the world that there are some people who cared about other people who don't have food to eat, so they want to motivate people to don't give up on their lives and to fight this pandemic together. The photographer took the picture this way because they may want us to know that during this pandemic, those people are also working hard as well to help other people in need. So other people must not give up, because everyone is helping each other. I think that this image is important enough to represent 2020 because food and water are essential to our lives, which because of covid, people lost their jobs, and they don't have enough money to go buy food. It shows how stressful the situation is, but people would still have a motivation to still fight together if they feel that they are not alone and that there are still some people that supports them.

When I saw this collage of pictures, my eye was immediately drawn to the center photo: the masked woman. The photographer clearly expresses his desire to give attention to the protestors of Hong Kong, a sentiment which is shown by the caption of the picture. The photographer helps their audience further empathize with the woman by showing us how to feel. For example, the monochromatic and dark color palette of the picture obscures the woman's face and any other identifying details. This not only symbolizes how the Hong Kong protestors have been silenced and repressed by due to Covid-19, but it also serves to give the audience the same oppressive feeling that the protestors are experiencing currently.

I chose the black and white image in the middle that says “faces of protest”. The photographer’s motivation probably wanted everyone, especially the ignorant, to pay attention to what happened in the protest. The color of the image is black and white which expresses the seriousness, exhaustion, and intensity of the protesters that fight for many people. The mask that covers the woman’s face probably symbolizes how the protesters speak out but were forced to remain silent by those powerful people. Throughout 2020, there are many protests happening around the world. But in this image, it seemed to be the Hong Kong protest that the protesters fought for their democracy.

Despite the fact that the world has been in a chaos lately, not just the pandemic itself but protests, the photographer illustrates the fact that protestors in HongKong are suffering from asking for their right in the society. By bringing the women and covering her with a cloth greatly symbolizes the tendency that things could get worse. I chose the image of the woman wearing the green mask. The photographer’s motivation was about the pandemic where the photographer wants to show the heroes of the front lines that they’re trying to help other people. This image is taken in a way to show that people on the front lines sacrifice themselves to help other people and patients. They are tired and stressed due to this circumstance, however, they are willing to help other people even though they know that they put the risk of getting the virus to themselves. This image makes it important to represent 2020 because this whole year, people got impacted by Covid-19. It shows how hard people have to deal with Covid-19, especially doctors and nurses. With that said everyone needs to have responsibility and take care of yourself.

It was a tough year for everybody, as you said, especially for the doctors and nurses. They are the front lines sacrificer helping patients and other people. They are tired and stressed, moreover, they are risking themselves getting the virus in order to help others.

I chose third picture where there is a woman inside a room sitting on a patient bed and another woman sitting outside. I think that the photographer's motivation for shooting this image is because he or she wants to express the sadness in both women's face. This picture is important enough to represent 2020 because it is a very impactful situation right now. Covid-19 pandemic has struck our world causing lots of death and people are starting to realize the importance of taking good care of their health.

The picture that I find interesting is the picture of a person wearing a green mask. The quote says that they're risking their lives on the frontline fighting something. This makes me think that the quote may be a reference to the COVID-19 and how doctors are putting themselves in danger by working in a hospital full of COVID-19 patients. I think the motivation behind this image is to let the readers know how hard doctors and nurses are working in the hospital and how stressful they are. The message is for the readers to do their part of wearing the masks and not going outdoor unless there's a reason so that COVID-19 can be contained.

The picture that very interesting me is the person wearing green mask. Right now Covid-19 is spread out every where. She look down and show the tiredness of her life that she been through. That make the tone of the picture feel like hopeless, like try to figure the way to fix the problem but nothing have been change. I think that the photographer want us to be thankful to the doctor and nurse that protect us even though they need to risk there life to save many of people. Also beware of Covid-19.

The photographer's motivation for the first image might be representing the people that have to go to work every day during this time, the pandemic. Because a man is in the car and the quote written on it said "my biggest fear is bringing it home to my wife." I think this quote is trying to say that he has to go out every day and he afraid that he might get the virus and infected the one who he loves like his wife. The color of the image is red which I think symbolizes stressfulness, nervousness, and fearness.

The thought of bringing the virus home to your love ones is definitely one of the biggest fear this year. Honestly there's nothing most people can do because if they only stayed home and don't go out to work they won't receive their paycheck, so they have to risk their lives everyday to go out and work while putting their life on the line.

The image that intrigued me most was the picture of ladies holding bags of food. During a pandemic, it is hard enough to take care of yourself and hold on to jobs. Most definitely, I took a moment to think of all those that are actively combating the virus and the damage it caused. Most of them are health care professionals, but some of them are just civilians trying to lend a helping hand. In a time where we need each other most, it's nice to see kind souls still willing to help at the risk of their own safety. In a world where we only see negativity on the news, it's nice to see this image and this idea that the photographer captured.

The picture I choose is the picture that have 6 women standing wearing a mask carrying a bag. The photographer's motivation is that this year there is a lot of problem and people are having no food to eat. The quote that is written is " I'm a server for life. It's an honor to serve those kids who really need it'. This quote tell us that the 6 women wanted to help the children who is in need.

The picture that intrigue me the most was the picture in the middle where a lady's face is covered or wrapped in a piece of cloth. The title for that picture was "Faces of Protests". Personally the picture represent 2020 really well because many countries, race and beliefs are protesting for their freedom. In my opinion the cloth that was covering the lady's face represent oppression and how the people had been silenced for too long. There had been many protest in 2020 such as the BLM movement and Thailand's protest

The picture that intrigues me the most is the one in the middle with the woman with her face covered. I feel like 2020 has been the year of protests especially with the Hong Kong protest, the BLM movement, and more. I think that the photographer's motivation of shooting this picture is to show the people's emotion in the protest. This picture represents 2020 because the sadness in the picture can represent the damage COVID has done to the people and the trust the people had lost with their government.

The picture I find most touching is the picture of Sarah Rugendyke. Even though this year's focus was on COVID-19, there is still an event that is environmentally devastating, the Australian wildfires. The photographer's motivation to take this photo is to show even though the wildfire isn't as well known as COVID it's still a serious problem. It also establishes the destruction the wildfire brought, destroying a child's home and leaving her alone.

Protest has been around different countries to let the citizens show their dissatisfaction in different life factors. I think the photographer chose to cover the face of the protesters because they should try to protect their identity. The cover may also be indicate on how the government officials tried to cover the society's eyes. In either way, it represents the big political movements that happened in 2020.

The cover that caught my attention was the one in the middle, where the person's face was completely covered. The picture that intrigues me the most is the one on the bottom left corner with the women in the green mask. I'm especially interested in the quote that went along with it. The photographer shot the photo in a way that captured a depressed or dead look in the woman's eye, a look of someone who has been way overworked on the battlefield. This captures how challenging and exhausting 2020 has been for everyone, but front line warriors especially. Many doctors and nurses have given their lives, overworked, and underslept in order to fight this virus. They were indeed "drafted" to serve their countries, with no better comparison than being drafted into the military and put into the field of fire.

I really loved how you focused on the quote as it is a small detail in a poster as large as this one. Your way of describing the doctors sent to front line to fight the coronavirus is really interesting, but I have to say, it's really fitting to the situation. The soldiers are drafted to fight in wars against deadly weapons, but doctors are currently drafted to fight against microscopic virus. You saw exhaustion from their eyes, but I also saw pain in their eyes. They might be sad that they lost a patient to the virus, or they could have lost a fellow doctor while trying to save the patients.

The way the image was shot perfectly showed the despair in the woman's eyes, a clear image to what the new normal looks like, one where people communicate with most often, their upper half of the face. The caption of the polaroid says 1st generation Chinese-American and the photo itself was released in the issue for Facing Racism. Judging by the photo itself, I can tell that the photographer wanted to show the diversity of ethnicity, and that the photo is supposed to serve as a reminder that we should accept everyone. No one should be discriminated against or looked down upon just because they are "different" from others. Although our thoughts has matured, discrimination is still prevalent in our society today. I like how you've not just interpreted the details in the picture, but the tone of it as well. The red color in the picture played a big role in grabbing people's attention. The quote at the top strongly represents how people who are working on the frontline feel about the danger of getting the disease back home to their families. It makes people who read the sentence be more considerate about those people who are working really hard to help others during these times and convince them to wear masks and lower down the infection curve to help these workers.

I agree with your comment that there is no one wants their love ones to get danger things around them especially in 2020 which is covid virus that spread around the world now. The image that caught my attention is the one on the top right corner. I think the motivation of the photographer shows that we can do nothing but send encouragement to the ones we love in some situation where we cannot give then a hug. In the image there is an old lady on a bed in a house and a middle age woman outside the house. I think the image's motivation is shows that we can only look at them from away. I think it represents the Covid-19 pandemic in this year, because people who are infected by Covid-19 they cannot meet other people they have to stay alone and recover themselves. I think in summary this picture is saying that encouragement from the people we loves are important.

Phakhom (English 11 Block H)

The photo did give encouragement to the one who been in this situations. The way that you can't give another a hug, even though there you were just a meter apart. The photo did means a lot. We have go past through many different situations in 2020. Covid-19 is one of the most element that have impact this year. It is kind of sad that, there is a glass in between you and your love. They have to stay a lone and recover theirselves before getting out to meet other. The picture did meant a lot.

Ally (English 11 Block H)
12/17/2020 07:47:21 am

I like how you interpreted the meaning behind the picture as encouraging our loved ones as it is one of the most important factors for a person to recover from something. Having an old woman sitting on the bed with a middle-aged woman sitting outside in the picture does make it look like the picture is representing the pandemic that is going on right now. It also looks like the woman outside is trying to stay as close as possible to the old woman, making it look like she's giving her mother encouragement for her to feel better during bad times.

The cover that caught my attention the most would be the center one. Idk, it just seems kinda cool. She's like a mummy or something. I wonder if she could breathe through the fabric of those bandages. If I had to guess what the article is about, it is either a art piece or a metaphor. Like something being suffocating in a metaphysical sense or something.

I image that caught my attention was a little girl sitting on her pink castle, where she is sitting is her house where the fire has burned it down. I believe the photographer took this photo to show that the fire was a big impact towards everyone. The fire is a sign that we are destroying the earth, and the earth is punishing us in its own ways. The fire in was how we treated the earth, with coronavirus spreading people stopped traveling. Trains, cars, planes were less used, there were less global warming. The earth is healing itself right now.

The Earth will somehow find a way to heal itself. Although the corona virus is deadly and had took away millions of lives, our earth is healing. The picture that caught my eye was the one in the middle, it's a picture of a woman with a gray mask covering her face, labeled "Face of Protest". While this picture is obviously hinting to the Hong Kong protest, I think this picture has summed up 2020 pretty well. I believe its significance could be found when comparing it to the current situation in Thailand. Both are protests, and both are a big part of what makes 2020, well, 2020, minus the covid. I really liked this picture, the black and white perfectly encapsulates the lack of transparency in the government. The face mask that completely covers the protester's face shows the government's censorship over the media, but no matter what mask they put on, their voices will follow through.

Sally (AP Research Block A)
12/17/2020 10:38:07 am

I agree with you, and protests are one of the biggest part of 2020. However, I didn't like the lack of representation in the photo. I understand that the simplistic black and white aesthetic has a purpose, but at the same time I don't think it fully captured all the protests that happened in 2020. Ever since the George Floyd protest first happened, to BLM in the US, to global racial justice, Juneteenth, virtual Day of Silence, climate strikes, Hong Kong protests, Belarus Protests as well as our very own protest in Thailand. I believe that there is so much diversity in all of these protest and they each hold their own significance and cannot be contained in a simple black and white picture.

I chose the photo "Children of the Revolution", photographing King and Ceci. I think the photographer's motivation for shooting this photo is seeing how the younger generations, especially Gen Z, rebel against society and everything they were taught to believe. The photo is in grayscale, with King and Ceci wearing black. The photo is dark overall except for the ray of light shining on their faces. I feel like all the darkness in the photo represents the faults in society but also the fact that these kids are a force to be reckoned with. The light could represent hope for a better tomorrow or goal they are fighting towards.

The image that has six women with the mask really caught my attention. Coronavirus has been stuck with us for almost a year and sadly we still haven't found a way to get rid of it completely. It definitely has caused lots of difficulties and troubles for all the people, including lots of children all over the world; however, these people always stand on the front line to help the affected children. This photography not only shows their love and cares toward the children, but also the firm determination in facing the pandemic.

The image that intrigued me was the one on the top right corner that wrote "When the World Stops" on the cover. I think the photographer's motivation for shooting that image is to help people understand more about the pandemic that is still going on around the world. This makes the image important to represent 2020 because it represents how people live during the period of COVID-19. The pandemic made the world stop; people were unable to go outside and do what they usually do. A lot of things have changed after the pandemic occurred.

The photo that attracts me the most is the photo of a man wearing a mask and glasses holding a camera. It looks like he is a reporter, driving a car, and is recording something, and I think what he is recording is the whole of 2020. It records covid-19 and how people fight the virus. The virus is ruthless, like the blue light behind him, and people are affectionate and righteous, like the red light behind him.

The picture that caught my attention is the bottom-left picture of a person wearing a mask with the quote "We're being asked to put our lives at risk to fight something. I feel like I was drafted." This quote refers to Covid 19 and the pandemic that has being going on for multiple months. Seeing this post, I feel appreciated by those doctors and nurses that risk their lives to pull others back to life, to prevent the world from turning dark and give hope to the people. The quote refers to how the doctor feels about herself being chosen, and how she became the hero to help others from drowning. This post really relates back to the situations in this year, and that we should continue to keep ourselves safe, to stop this breakout from spreading throughout the world.

I agree with you, and being a healthcare worker during the Covid 19 pandemic is definitely a dangerous job. However, I also relate this to the rumours about the situation that doctors worked in back in China when the pandemic first started to spread. A soldier did not get to live in places with good conditions nor did they have enough time to eat and rest. It was rumoured that nurses and doctors had poor protection, not enough rest and was living in a poor condition in Chinese hospitals while trying to cure Covid 19 patients. I do agree with you, though, that we should continue to keep ourselves and our family safe, because we have honestly lost way too many people this year already.

The picture that grabbed my attention the most was the picture in the middle with the person's face being covered in bands of cloth. The person's facial expression seem to be one of despair and dread because they do not possess the power, influence or authority to incite change. The fact that their entire face is covered is an important detail. The face is the most expressive part of our body and it shows our emotions and thoughts in a single still image. Underneath the bands, you can tell the person is sad because even though they and others protest for change, nothing will come to fruition because governments and figures of authority are too self-absorbed to think about the good of the community and society. This represents 2020 because everyone in the world is going through change and there are many people who feel the need to inspire change but in troubling times, staying afloat looks to be more important than moving forward.

Megan Thee Stallion is an artist rising in popularity, and many photographers may wish to take her portrait for the amount of money they'd earn. However, upon actually taking Megan Thee Stallion's portrait, the photographer supposedly wished to convey the concept of identity confidence towards the audience, as shown from the eye catching gown and long, dark braid, which especially projects both racial and body confidence. Many conflicts humanity has encountered during 2020 are due to a lack of confidence. The persisting racial discrimination in the US, I believe, is due to people being insecure about being themselves, hence adding on to their sensitivity of individuals of a different race. On the other hand, global issues such as COVID-19 and global warming could also be related to confidence, with people not having confidence towards methods (wearing masks, reducing greenhouse gas emissions) that could contribute to the solution of such conflicts.

The most intriguing image to me was the image in the middle. It is a face of a woman that has cloth wrapped around it, with the title called "Faces of Protest." The intention of the photographer was to demonstrate a simple imagery, while representing a very strong subject. The image that stood out to me the most was the center photo. It is the image of a woman with a black cloth wrapped about her face. The photo is rather plain and it is evident the photographer decided to find beauty in simplicity. The photo is also almost entirely black. Black, being the color of death, is a solemn color and evokes the feeling of sadness. The image itself represents the oppression of people. The cloth symbolizes the act of oppression and deliberate ignorance from the government.

The photographer wanted to point how the absurdity of him holding this unusually high power, and it was best displayed through Jared standing prominently in a black suit against a white background. Many things have happened in 2020, including Covid-19, Beirut explosion, and protests in the US, Hong Kong, Belarus, as well as Thailand. As I skim through the collage of the TIME Magazine covers, the photo that caught my attention the most is the one at the bottom left of the collage, where there's a woman with a mask on. I find this photo the most iconic to represent the year of 2020. It all began as the corona virus broke out in China and spread across the world eventually. Friends are being forced to be separated, places are locking down, and people are dying. From the dead-pan face of the woman, it represents many if not most of how the people feel about this year. This photo is also taken through a glass, which could represent isolation. Therefore, I find this photo the most iconic to represent 2020.

The explanations and interpretations that focuses on details in the image are very evident and great. The emotion the woman had on her face, even covered with the mask, was full of anxiety and worries. Additionally, the mask over and herself inside the glass greatly represent quarantine and limitations of humans' actions in the year of 2020. Moreover, the quote even stated "We are being asked to put our lives to fight something," in which something refers to the covid and we have no options to refuse the request.

After observing all the images, the one image that caught my attention is the image where a doctor (or nurse) with mask is drawn. The individual looks stressed, I can see this from her tiring eyes. Additionally, the author advocates respect for doctors and nurses since they have risked their lives to save other people's lives. Moreover, the author's purpose of displaying this image include for communities to protect themselves from Covid 19 by following simple steps such as wearing a mask. The author also demonstrated the severness of Covid 19 by showing how tired and stress the doctor/nurse is.

The doctor does look stress based on her facial expression. Her looks with a mask totally could symbolize the emotions for taking risks, where is unpleasant. Additionally, the interpretation of author's purpose greatly related to the year of 2020, which is simply protect ourselves by wearing a mask to reduce contagiousness. If everyone in the world followed this order, I believe the doctors would not have to experience this stress and exhaustion as they are experiencing right now.

the image that captured my eyes is the one that says "faces of protest." it gives a powerful meaning because normally faces aren't supposed to be seen in public if you are protesting, because it will be dangerous for them and they are going to be at risk, especially for their future. I think that the photographer's motivation for shooting this image is because of the situation that's been going on, protests. The photographer shooting the image in this way in order to shows the viewers that in the protest, protesters have to hide themselves, not showing who they are by covering their face with somethings so that they weren’t recognise by others or what they are against. I am choosing the image with Alanna Badgley, a paramedic, wearing a mask. She seems very determined and serious about what she is doing. Although the picture can be vague because nowadays everyone is wearing a mask, the fact that her occupation as a paramedic is clearly being shown can allow us to know the cause of her determined and exhausted look. Also, by emphasising her looking down with just a portion of her face visible, the photographer is trying to focus on the remorse and discouraging sense that paramedics and doctors feel during the fight with COVID-19. Lastly, on a closer look, we can see the reflection on the glass in front of Badgley which conveys the distance that the photographer needs to maintain to take the picture, further stressing the danger and pressure that those in the medical field have to face in 2020 to protect the people, who also need to take precaution not to spread the pandemic further.

The image that I choose is the image located on the second row third column. I chooses this picture because it is outstanding as people inside works as a team where all the other images contains one or two characters. I think the photographer's motivation to shoot that image was to motivate people who were less fortunate, and telling them that there are always people who are willing to help them. The image was taken with several people wearing mask and holding a bag of donations to represent the nature love and sympathy of humankind. Additionally, the image is uniquely connected with 2020 is the fact that everyone is wearing masks and gloves in the image, which symbolizes protection against covid.

I chose the picture of a woman who sat in front of the french window and her mother is sat insider the house.

In this year full of disasters, the one that hurt us the most was the covid-19 that is started in December of last year and has taken away many precious things around us. For example, life, freedom, time with our family. As shown in the picture, the lady in the picture can only see her family through the window. I think this is the farthest distance in the world. It's clearly right in front of my eyes, but I can't touch or hear the familiar voice.

    Mixed Ink

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.
