Mission Impossible

11/15/2020

The hinge on the wooden cupboard snapped. The door slammed onto the counter, smashing the cookie jar. Wood and glass spewed onto the floor. "No," Dakota screamed! "I've gotta make it downtown in time!" She tiptoed over the broken pieces and out of the kitchen. Dakota dashed down the hall and grabbed her keys off the entryway table. "Ring!" The phone pierced. Dakota stopped. Puzzled. Hairs on her neck and arms stood at attention. She turned, slowly, and glared at the painting on the wall. The phone in the painting of the iconic, red phone box from London, was ringing.

Dakota walked to the painting and examined it very closely. She noticed that it was just a normal painting of a random street in London. She thought that she was making things up, but the moment she was heading to the door, the house shook, things fell down broken as the phone rings again. Dakota, sucked into the painting, found herself in downtown London. She felt a sense of danger, a rush of adrenaline shooting through her. She was about to get hit by a bus when suddenly, she woke up and found that it was all just a dream...

"It was all just a dream" she repeated to herself. As she felt the rush of adrenaline leave her body, she opened her eyes and steadied herself in bed. The mattress under her back felt familiar, the blanket wrapped around her body felt familiar, the seal doll that she was clutching for comfort felt familiar; she's at home. Time continued to tick. The snow outside continued to fall. She propped herself up in bed and to her horror, the family portrait that had been hanging in front of her bed was replaced with the iconic, red phone box from London.

"This is probably a dream" told herself calmly. She walks toward the painting. Trying to open the red phone box but then suddenly. She wakes up again. " Huh, that's weird." Dakota never had a repeating dream before. Having a dream is already hard for her since she's a worker in a small cafe shop. It might seems like an easy job but during the night there are so many people, she always finish her work at 3 in the morning. It's too tired that she doesn't dream anymore these days.

I really like your story and the way u kept engaging the reader with the very first hook sentences in your writing. The words and tenses used in this story acted as a bridge that holds strongly for your story. Great job!!

Then she realized that she was almost late for work. She went quickly to the bathroom to brush her teeth, take a shower and dress up. After that, she grabbed her breakfast, her purse and ran toward the door. When she ran out from the door, she stood still with her eyes wide open. She was standing in the middle of the street in downtown London. She heard the sound of the horn and when she turned her head to where the sound came from, the headlight of the bus flashes into her eyes. The bus is coming towards her.

She stood still, closed her eyes tight and her whole body was strongly contracting. Immediately, she flinched from her bed and screamed. Her heart is beating rapidly. She looked around her room and found out that everything was alright, nothing was broken. Dakota was still confused about what’s happening. While she was thinking, she saw the family portrait hanging in front of her bed was replaced with the iconic, red phone box from London just like what she saw in her dreams. Suddenly, she heard her phone ring, so she got up from her bed to pick up the phone.

(Reply to first 3182 Eng11 BlockH) When she picks up the phone, the phone would not stop ringing and it continues to ring again and again. She realized that the phone was broken. She wondered how long it had been broken. I still remember that yesterday I still used it, she reminded herself. Or is it just all a dream am I asleep or awake she started to wonder. The next morning he went to the street of downtown London to get the phone fix. When she arrived at the shop the worker started to examine the phone. But there is not thing wrong with it…..

"Thank God, it's just a dream.” Dakota breathed a sigh of relief. She looked around. “Huh?” it wasn’t her room. She took in her surroundings. She was on a comfortable bed. There was a TV-show playing on a television in front of her. She could hear the faint noises of children playing outside.
“Where am I?” Dakota was starting to panic. She was in an unfamiliar room. “Let’s take a walk.” she started to rise from the bed, moving her leg-. She felt nothing. Her legs weren’t there. In place of what was supposed to be her legs was nothing.

She walked toward the painting and stared at it. Unexpectedly, she got pulled into the painting and appeared at the downtown restaurant where she had an appointment with her friend for dinner. Dakota was still shocked, but she tried to remain calm. When they finished dinner, they walked out from the restaurant and said good-bye to each other. Suddenly, the wind blew strongly. She closed her eyes, she could hear the sound of the broken glass of the window at the restaurant and the sound of the alarm “Ring!” She woke up astonishingly and realized it was just a dream.

Dakota sat on her bed for a few moments, thinking about her dream. It was already 18:00 pm when she woke up and realized that she really had an appointment with her friend for dinner at 19:00 pm at one of the best western restaurant in downtown London! She quickly changed her normal clothes into a glamorous dress and puts her make up on. At 19:30 pm, her friend called her, asking where she’s at right now. Even though she did not get out of her house yet, she simply replied “I’m on my way! Almost there!”

After she ended the call, she rushed down the stairs and walked out of the house. Then, she saw pretty red roses located in front of the flower shop across the street. She realized that she’s really late so she decided to buy some flowers for her friend as a sorry gift. She walked and looked around the shop and there was one thing that caught her eyes. It was a painting that looked exactly like the painting in her dream. She had a goosebump but she had no time to think about it because she was in a rush...

"What that hell was that?", she thought to herself, still with goosebumps all over her arms. She was clearly hallucinating about that painting. There's no time to think about that. Her friend is waiting for her. She stuffed her hands in her coat pocket, put her head down, and continued walking. But as she walked, she noticed that the sidewalk is lined with a different brick that she's used to. It's not the brown bricks that she's been walking on since her childhood, it's the grey bricks that are in that painting of the iconic, red phone box in London.

Even though she knew she had to be downtown in less than ten minutes, Dakota stood as still as a statue with thoughts in her mind racing faster than Olympic runners. Questions that she could not answer came spilling into her mind. Not knowing what to do, she slowly walked closer to the painting, avoiding the broken pieces of glass on the wooden floor. The ringing sound of the telephone filled her ears. The air in that room was freezing but Dakota was still covered in sweat. All she knew to do is to then is just inhale and exhale.

I just needed to go downtown!” Dakota questioned herself as she looked out the window of the red telephone booth she was standing in. Knock! Knock! But as she forced her leg to move forward she realized that the red phone got bigger and bigger. Now it’s at the back of her. She tries to move herself as she feels suspicious. She start to observed the painting again she now saw a very pretty ring placed in a very suspicious place. “I must’ve too little sleep!”She thought to herself once again. Dakota felt scared and she did not know what to do. She never knew that such a parallel world could exist and she would experience one in her lifetime! Dakota looked around and observed the other world. She did not know anyone at all and she felt lost. Dakota started asking the people around her, but they all seemed confused and did not reply to her back. She felt extremely helpless and started to cry. Suddenly, it started to rain really hard. She thought the world was ending. Dakota cried, screamed, and ran all around, desperate for someone to help.

Dakota was totally lost. She stood for a moment and begin walking toward to painting. “Ring, Ring” the magical phone continued to ring. Dakota reached the painting and lays fingers on it. The ringing sound continued and Dakota took down the painting. She did not know where it was coming from as if the phone rang from another world. “Magic might exist…” Dakota begins to become indulged in the painting. Seems impossible, ain't it? She pinched herself right where her engagement ring used to be, a natural reflex of her's, wishing she was hallucinating. She ignored it. As she carefully tiptoed around the broken glass to make her way out of the kitchen, a large broken piece of glass lodged its way through the tip of her right toe. "Damn it! Not now", cursed Dakota. She had to make her way downtown for her last rehearsal before Nutcracker Season starts. With her punctured big toe, she would have to sit out. It all depends on how deep the wound is.

She checked on her wound for a while and went to get her medicine box. She slowly smeared the medicine onto her wound. As she was busy putting on medicine, she heard another voice from the painting. It sounded like a crowd of busy people. Dakota walked to the painting and found out that there's a small village in the picture, located next to the phone box. She leaned near the painting and found out that the voice got louder. She gathered her courage, she puts her hand in and found out that she's able to go into the painting.

Dakota takes a deep breath, and illuminates her eyes wide open. Dakota slowly entered the picture, and felt a soothing breeze of wind blowing through her ears, her hair, and her shoulders. What she saw left her speechless. Dakota looked around the crowd of people that was around her. Just as she finished that thought, she chuckled to herself. Since when has a little pain ever stopped her? Not bothering to clean and bandage her wound, she shoved her feet into a pair of ankle boots and grabbed her purse and keys by the door before rushing out into the chilly autumn air. Perhaps it was because of the beautiful scenery before her, orange and yellow leaves seeming to glow softly under the rising sun, but Dakota found herself pausing in front of the door, breathing in the crisp, cool air. A sense of nostalgia and loneliness fills her.

She took her ring out and tried to touch the painting again and the ripple effect isn't showing this time. This makes her even more puzzled and curious. It was only last week that she knowingly accused an innocent man of murder. She felt no shame because she received a good amount of money for that case. Time is running out. Pressure, anxiety, fear all exist at once. Dakota was completely glamoured and slowly returned back to the painting as if there is something magical attracting her. No one is talking. “Hello?” Dakota decided to begin the conversation. “Help me…” The response was answered by an intimate sound. “Who are… Mom? Is that you?” The phone hung up all at a sudden. Dakota recalled her business downtown and hurried out to the bus as she fought with time. Dakota was totally baffled. She thought everything that had just happened was illuminations; however, the voice of her mom is so realistic...

She was shocked, this downtown London wasn't the same downtown she usually goes through. She heard a voice from her back, so she looks back and sees nurses running and shouting after her. She decided to run to a dark, small street. She needed to find a place to hide from the nurses. She sees a small broken closet near the trashcan. She quickly went inside to hide from the nurses. While hiding, she founded a calendar. The year on the calendar is 1986, she shocked. Then she realized that she went through a painting of a phone that rings.

"What should I do?" Dakota said to herself after rushing back and looking at the broken pieces on the floor. There's cookie crums and glass everywhere on the floor. She glared back at the painting and slowly walked towards the phonebooth. The ring is getting louder and louder. Dakota can't believe what she is seeing and storms outside to head towards downtown. She sprints as fast as she can hoping that the sound will fade away but it only gets louder instead. She feels as if the more she runs, the closer she is. It is driving her madly insane.

There must be a way to get rid of this noise. She shouted. She screamed. She screeched at the top of her lungs. Nonetheless, her efforts were all in vain. The ring rang so loud it drowned out even her own voice, a feat never thought possible. She knew that she was in no shape or form to go downtown anymore, she’s going to fix the problem at its source. Such a trivial issue could never have broken her spirit. Thus, she stomped towards the painting, getting closer and closer. By the time she’s touching the painting, it’s all quiet.

It's too quiet. It is as if she's underwater and every sound in this world has been muted. Dakota stood there with her hand still on the painting. The ring earlier has left her in shock and she could hear her own heart beating. Thud. Thud. Thud. The rhythmic beating is echoing inside her head. It is loud enough to drive her crazy like the ringing did. "STOP! How do I stop this thudding noise?" She asked herself. Dakota covered her ears as the thudding becomes louder and louder. She collapsed onto the floor and tears started streaming down her face.

Hallucinations, Dakota thinks to herself, don’t get tricked. Quickly, without a thought of picking up the phone, she rushes out the door. The second she steps out of the door, a loud CRACK was heard, she looked back swiftly and saw a hole right beneath the painting of the phone on the wall. “Downtown, get to downtown,” Dakota says to herself repeatedly. She started walking hastily, being careful of every step she takes as the world collapses around her. “MOMMY!!!”, the sound of a little girl was heard. Something in Dakota stirred. It’s shouldn’t be a hallucination this time... right?

Dakota paused as the last of her judgement left her. It was her little girl, she needs help! She's still here. With a relieved sob, Dakota turned back towards the door and barged right back in, facing the dark hallway. The crack in the painting was glowing a bright red as the light spilled onto the wooden floors. Dakota looked around, trying to search for her little girl. Suddenly, a giggle echoed as she spun around, on high alert. The door slammed. Turning back to the hallway, she spots a dark, small, figure. Could it be? Is it really her?

"Mommy, why did you leave me alone?" the figure whispered, "Do you know how cold it is here?" Tears instantly filled Dakota's eyes. She walked towards the figure as if in a trance. She reached out, only to touch wisps of smoke as the small figure became a shadow right before her eyes. Memories began to pass before her eyes. Of her daughter running around a field with bright eyes. Of her little girl begging for another bedtime story. Of her baby giggling with joy. Of her precious baby dying before her eyes in the car accident two years ago.

Dakota stared at the picture and touched it as if she knew this place before. She touched the picture, she got sucked in instantly. When she opened her eyes she was in the phone booth and it was in front of her the phone was ringing. She answered the phone “Hello?” she answered with confusion “who are you?” “Help Dakota, I’m stuck!.”It was the voice of her father calling for help. She panicked and kept on shouting back on the phone but her dad hung up. With realization, she looks up and sees that she is in downtown London.

She tried to find the building to once again have the access to the phone and call her father, but she was lost. She was so worried because her father sounded like he was really in pain and desperate for help. She asked the people around for directions but she was not able to describe the buildings. Her memories of the building faded away and she could not hold on to it. The frustration made her mind even more broken. Suddenly, the ring sound rings in her ear once again, so she walked away from the downtown towards the sound.

Dakota tried to walk away from it, but everytime she tried to run away, she keeps coming back to the same place. The ringing becomes louder as she walked towards it. Suddenly, it came to her mind again that she was supposed to be at downtown. She tried to walk away but her body was hesitating. She knew that if she walked away, there would never be another opportunity to uncover its mysteries, so she remained there without moving an inch. Then, suddenly a shadow appeared behind her, she did not dare to look back.

Dakota's confusion slowly turned into terror. Aside from the ringing phone, she was starting to hear a symphony of whispers. "Dakota, answer it," "Dakota, do it!" Dakota's hands started shaking as she slowly backed up to the wall. "No, no!" She shook her head wildly and pulled at her hair. For a second, her mind seemed to be broken, too lost to salvage. Her eyes brightened and for a second she seemed to regain her consciousness. "I have to get downtown. Down-" Another whisper broke her train of thought. "Dakota, you stole my ring, and now I'll steal your soul."

When the world materialized before her once again, Dakota felt as though she'd been blacked out for hours. She glanced at the clock hanging down the end of the hall worriedly, but no time had passed. No time... at all. "Now, that ring", it was the whispers again, "tell me where it is". "I don't know" Dakota cried as she finally broke under the fear, "I don't know. Please let me go downtown. “Ring!” The phone ringing in the painting broke through the chaos and tears, she looked up at the painting and everything was the same. No.. something was different. Why is she looking up at the painting? Dakota looked down and saw her own body lying on the floor, the whisper echoed in her head, “..and now I’ll steal your soul..” Her body, once full of life, is now grotesquely twisted, bloodshot eyes fixated on the painting, each detail had curdled her blood and reminded Dakota of the series of macabre murder in downtown London that once shocked the whole world.

She stopped. After a few seconds, she turned back and got out of the kitchen. She prepared and was ready to go out for an important meeting downtown. When she was one step in front of the entrance, "ring!!!" it was the phone again. She was annoyed. She opened the door and shut it down strongly. She arrived meeting just on time, however, the manager seemed angry. He asked Dakota about the reason why she didn't answer the call. "I was in the kitchen." "Do you bring the result of our product today?" He asked. She answered, "It is broken......."

Dakota thought to herself about why she heard the ringing sound of the red phone box from London, because it was a painting after all, there was no way a painted phone could ever ring, it had left her bewildered as she could not wrap her head around what just happened. Dakota begin to wonder if this is all just a dream, maybe the manager isn't even yelling at her, she's just dreaming these phenomenon. Dakota slowly looked up, stared into the manger eyes.

The painting, a portrait of a man, glared back. “If you continue your actions, I’ll leave and never turn back.” That seemed to do the trick. There was a familiar feeling in her abdomen, a coil of nerves and anxiety settling like an anchor. For the past week, Dakota had been having the same visions. The ringing of the red phone box from London haunting her even in her dreams. Premonitions. Unfortunately for her, this is an all too regular occurrence. Nothing good ever came out of these visions, and Dakota has learned that the hard way through a series of misfortune. Her visions were the bane of her existence. Having experienced them since a young age, even more so recently, she could not get rid of them no matter what she did. They messed with her thinking and made everything unclear for her. She had to get to the red telephone box in the middle of the city. It was the only way she could make the visions go away, at least for a while. When she arrived at the telephone box, the door was wide open. Puzzled, she entered cautiously and saw a red phone dangling just above the floor.

While that pitched black darkness started fading away, Dakota found herself lying in front of her front door with a piece of broken glass from the kitchen in the palms of her hand. But that doesn’t distract her from going downtown. It was getting dark as she approached the downtown area. Dakota was relieved that she was able to get there before it closes. She did not know what to do. Should she try to make sense of this ringing phone in the painting, or should she disregard this nonsense and make her meeting downtown? Being reminded of all the horror movies she watched, she thought, 'it's better if I just get out of here ASAP'. The ringing of the phone has died down for a bit, so Dakota turned around and reached for the door. She pushed down the handle, attempting to escape the place that was supposed to be her haven. The door would not budge. "Ring!" The phone rang once again, and chills ran down Dakota's spine. Deciding that any avoidance was pointless, she walked closer to the painting to examine it. The ringing got louder every time she stepped closer, and she noticed that the red phone box was slightly shaking. Her heart was in her mouth as she reached her hands to touch the painting. At that moment, she felt the texture of the smooth glass pane and the red metal frame of the phone box, the coldness on her fingertips reminded her that everything is real. Not knowing what to do, she reached in further and grasped the tiny red phone box. She probably overestimated the durability of a painted phone box though, as it shattered from her strength and broken glasses drew blood from her hand.

Then, Electro screamed back, “if only you could remember the little boy who used to play with you downtown...if only, you have kept your promises to come and visit me!” Dakota was stunned for a second and then realized her mistake, then said, “I’m so sorry...will you forgive me?” Yet, it’s all too late...

She stares at the painting closely and observes the surroundings. She thought to herself it must be some kind of a special painting or it was just a broken one. Things didn't go as planned, as she looks closer, she noticed that it is a C4. She was shocked and quickly ran away with the scream of alerting everyone. BOOM!!! the plan of going downtown has been changed. She quickly rings her mommy and daddy for help but no one respond...

Dakota then went to each of the neighbor's doors and asked for help. However, there was no one to be seen anywhere. She was terrified and scared. As she thought everything was going to be over, she heard the same phone ring as the one she heard from the painting. Dakota ran as far as she could but couldn’t outrun the haunting of the phone ring. She broke into a car and drove downtown. As she reached there, the car broke, stopping by right to the exact looking red phone box she saw from the painting. The phone rang again.

Dakota ducked down and hides behind the car thinking that there is going to be another explosion. Covering her ear, Dakota waits for the explosion… Noting happens. The phone keeps ringing and ringing. Dakota took a peek at the ring phone and stalk it from afar. Observing and taking notes of the ringing phone, there’s no C4 attached to it. Dakota began to catch her breath and exit the flight or fight mode. She slowly working her way to the ringing phone. As Dakota about to pick up the phone, she wakes up from her dream. “What a weird dream”.

This is not funny. Dakota stepped back staggeringly, stood there like a puzzled kid who lost on the downtown street. this situation was way out of her imagination, and she totally had no idea how to explain this to others. She got here because of the phone ring in a damn painting? Others must think that she is out of her mind. "Or maybe I should go back." She took a deep breath, reached hands into her pocket to find her wallet. All of the sudden, her hope was all broken — Dakota did bring the key, but not money.

Dakota was desperate to investigate the ringing; yet, she was too scared to do so and decided to run away. A man appeared in the painting and said, “where do you think you’re going, do not try to escape from me!” Dakota looked around and no one was there...she felt helpless. “Please! Let me go downtown! I’ll keep my promises! I promise!” Dakota pleaded. “Ring!” the phone pierced again. Dakota immediately ran down to her car to take escape...then realized that her car was broken. The man in the painting smiled and said, “you can never leave me.”

Scared, Dakota turned around and reached for the door. The door would not budge. "Ring!" The phone rang once again, chills ran down Dakota's spine. She walked closer to the painting to examine it. Her heart was in her mouth as she reached for the painting. She felt the cold red metal frame and knew that the phone was real. She grasped the tiny red phone box, but it shattered from her strength and the broken glasses drew blood.
"Oh well," sighed Dakota, "it's not like this can get any worse."

Boy, if only she knew how wrong she was.

Dakota felt a breeze of chill through her body. The phone stopped ringing, thus she didn’t think about it much, she thought she could’ve misheard something from the neighbors. As Dakota recovered from the confusing situation and was about to leave the house, the phone rang again. It rang continuously as if it was broken and couldn’t stop ringing. Dakota was scared, it was at this time she realized that it wasn’t her auditory hallucination. She quickly ran for the door, but then she got sucked into the painting, finding herself in the middle of the street of downtown London.

Upon closer examination of the painting, Dakota noticed that standing behind the phone box was Big Ben. The bright cherry red of the phone box along with the great Big Ben and a bustling crowd perfectly encapsulates the beauty of downtown London. The ringing has seamlessly stopped. Dakota stared blankly into the painting, nearly forgetting her purpose, "Oh right, downtown!" Dakota walked over the broken glass to the door, seemingly not minding the blood as she dragged her feet across the wooden floor. Dakota looked back at the painting one last time before leaving, she failed to notice the stares.

"Uhhh.. What?" Dakota raised her brow at the painting and slapped herself. "Wake up, Dakota, this is just a dream. You have to go to downtown in time, there's no time to waste!" She looked over at the broken glass pieces on the floor and walked over. She picked up a piece of glass and poked herself with it."Ow! This is not a dream." Then why is a phone from a PAINTING ringing? "Oh no. Oh no no no. This feels like a horror movie. Something bad is going to happen soon." Dakota ran out of the house, screaming.

Dakota turns around and walks closer to the picture. She takes down the picture from the wall to look at the reason that causes the phone in the picture to ring. She found out a red phone and an old box with the mystery broken pieces of something that she can’t guess of too. She answers the call and hears the sound of a mysterious man telling her to go to the art museum downtown by the time the museum-going to close. Dakota rushes into the car and starts the engine because she has only 2 hours to get there.

Dakota was amazed. The phone continued to ring and it never stopped. Dakota picked up the phone, and no one is talking. “Hello?” Dakota decided to begin the conversation. “Help me…” a woman said in a weak voice. “Mom? Is that you?” The phone hung up all at a sudden. Dakota hurried out to the bus as she fought with time. Dakota was totally baffled. She thought everything that had just happened was illuminations; however, the voice of her mom is so realistic.

She rushed over to the painting and examined it closely. The painting did not move, yet Dakota could still imagine the phone ringing in the phone box, calling out to the next recipient. Was she the next recipient. It rang again and again, a broken record stuck on repeat. The noise rattled through her ears and deafened her to the point where she couldn’t keep her balance. Then she recognised the ring of the phone was merely a distraction. Dakota came back to her senses, she realised that she must make it to the downtown area as quickly as possible.

The phone rings louder and louder as she walk closer. She touched the painting and her hand went through it. She was in shock, her heart was beating so fast and then she realized that a new adventure begins. She went through the picture and she appeared to be in London's downtown. She found a portal for her to travel between countries. From then, Dakota used the painting as an escape route from reality. She went through the painting many times until one day it was solid. It's broken. She couldn't get through it anymore. She realized she lost her happiness.

“Who could be calling me at this time of the day?” Dakota internally fumed, “Please, couldn’t they tell that I’m in a hurry?”. Picking up the phone, she was ready to yell, blame, curse - anything of the sort, really - into the phone to whoever was ignorant enough to interrupt her in the midst of a rush. Just when she was about to spit out her sass, the call hung up. A silence accompanied by the phone’s bleeping promptly followed. Dakota’s disbelief had her gaping, but a quick snap-back directed her to mount on her broomstick, headed for town.

Dakota confusedly walked to the painting and stared at it. She realized it was her own phone ringing beneath the painting. She picked up the phone and it was a phone call from the University of London. Dakota’s heart was beating faster, she is nervous whether she’s accepted or not . But what’s more surprising is that she was looking at the red phone box from London, and suddenly her phone rang. “Congratulations! You are accepted to our university. Could you come downtown for our interview?” Just when Dakota was about to answer, her little sister stepped on the broken glass.

Frightened, like any typical girl—or any conscious human being—stood there staring at the painting. "Is this a dream? A nightmare? Or am I just going crazy?" the voices in Dakota's head said in dismay. Her dazzled mind went on a whirlpool until that same exact sharp ringing screamed into her ears once again. This time breaking her unconscious mind like the broken cookie jar scattered in the kitchen. "Downtown gotta get to downtown in time." Dakota reminded herself as she tries to bury that unexpected paranormal activity. Then as she reached her arms out for the door, nothing was there.

Shaken and confused, Dakota walked towards the ringing phone, avoid the broken scraps and fragments on the floor. The ringing becomes louder and louder as she approaches the mysterious painting. “Am I dreaming? Am I going crazy”, Dakota begin to question her sanity. Dakota Pinched herself thinking it was just a dream… “Ouch”... At that moment it was clear that it was not a dream. At the same time, Dakota realized that she is going to be late for the meeting today in downtown. “Wouldn’t hurt to check it out right?” Dakota exclaimed as she walks closer to the painting.

The phone rang for the second time, Dakota, frustrated, who cannot bear the ringing anymore, threw the phone box across the hall aggressively. "I have no time for this utter nonsense, I've got to make to downtown. Immediately!" exclaimed Dakota. Struggling to calm down, Dakota walked past the broken sharp glass with an annoyed glance, telling herself everything's going to be fine. "It's not appropriate for me to be here anymore. I do not belong here," tears falling down her face as she left.

She stood there for a few seconds. Her body trembled slightly as she approached the painting, while the bell did not stop, ringing deafeningly on her heart like a drum. She held out her hand hesitantly; the moment her fingers attached to the painting, the door of the phone box opened, then she was pulled inside by an unknown gravity. "No!" She screamed and opened her eyes trembling, only to find that she was still in her bed. A dream? She looked out of the window — a red phone box that had never appeared before stood outside the door.

She hesitated for a moment,“Is it a dream?” She asked herself questioningly. She looked around, and there was no sign of anyone. The phone continued to ring, and she took a step forward to answer the call. "Where are you? The wedding will begin soon!". “Wedding?”She replied puzzled. “Yes! Your wedding! Didn’t you just check if the rang is still there? Forget it, I'm going to find you!” The person on the other end of the phone returned. Soon after, a person appeared and took her away. Along the way, the downtown was surrounded by a fragrance of roses. Suddenly, a voice full of magnetism came from behind. "DAKOTA?". She was surprised “Is he? "What is happening?" She exclaimed. Her legs then moved on it’s own. She quickly dashed out of the house, coming upon another painting of hers. This one is a relaxing, natural scene with colorful trees. There are some animals, a swing, a human corpse. “Huh?” Dakota slowly backed away. "Thump!" She stumbled on a piece of wood and fell. "ow. what's a piece of wood doing her-" It wasn't a piece of wood. Upon closer look, she could make out the pinkish color, the splatters of red, the 5 pieces jutting out of one end. It was a human arm.

As she slowly walked over to look closely at the phone in the painting, she noticed that she had a broken ankle from the earlier encounter. Not being able to move any further, she decided to sit on the floor and wait until the ringing stops. It would ring for another ten minutes until it finally came to an end. Dakota was mentally and physically exhausted from this experience but that did not stop her from making it to the downton in time. She limped outside her house and frantically waved in the middle of the road hoping that a car would stop to pick her up. As she slowly calmed down, she realized that there were nothing but trees surrounding the place.
