To live forever would be considerably awesome for some people but for me I don't think I could do it, living forever would get boring after awhile because you would run out of things to do. Just think about it for a minute, you have just been given some type of pill that lets you live forever after that you set off to do any and everything you ever wanted to do. Once you've done all that what is there left for you to do. You should also consider the possibility of the power going strait to your head and you end up doing something to get life in prison, well on the up side you would have all the time in the world to think of an escape plan. Now I want to turn your attention to something else, what if we all had this drug that would let us live forever, I bet some of you are saying that's fair it all sounds good but its not!! Think deeper than just you and your friends and family think about what this would do to our world. People are not going to stop making babies so eventually we would overpopulate the world and use up all of our natural resources thus causing an eruption in our ecosystem and I am pretty sure we would die of starvation and if that couldn't kill us I am still sure it wouldn't end well.

At some point in life you should come to a stop, a stop that tell your brain your tired. There are a lot of disadvantages that comes with aging. The longer you live the more your body deals with wear and tear. Your bones and vital organs will eventually reach a peak were they have had enough. Your body is a system, that system is in use from the day you were created. Death is a form of satisfaction personally. Meaning you are satisfied with the time u spent on planet Earth.

i think it is good that people are trying to live forever.it's their life and they should be able to choose. An advantage of an extremly long life is wisodm. A disadvantage of an extremly long life is physical signs of aging, like wrinkles and weaker bones.so that is something to think about.

I feel as if this is a good idea it gives us the gift we were extended to have in the first place but it will only make some things worse. Elderly people tend to suffer with many illnesses. No matter if the stay alive, it's just common to be in danger in the health department after a certain age and that can create a lot of conflict in our society . Not only does your physical appearance change but also your mental state and I don't think that is going help people with the serious diseases and illnesses that they need to finally rest get from

Ms. Boynton I disagree with some of what you are saying.
The prompt clearly says the "A lot of medical research today focuses on developing medicinal cures to ageing, specifically to live forever" meaning that they are not really going to get old. Which means that their health should be in good condition. But I do agree with what you said about their mental state, now after living for so many years I do believe that they could go crazy. So I agree with some and disagree with others, but overall I think u did good.

To have a pill that would give you immortal life would seem pretty cool. You would be able to have all the time in the world to do whatever it is your heart desire. Wouldn't have to worry about losing your friends and love ones. We would be like walking vampires on one of those Twilight movies. But on the other hand immortal life could also get boring leaving you with nothing else to do. If everyone is immortal then we would run out of room in the world. And would suffer from not enough of materials, resources, and foods. So having a pill that can provide you with immortal life can have its advantages and disadvantages. Depending on how you look at it.

DeQuelyn Longway Adams

Living a very long life could come with a lot of pros and cons. The pros of the situation is that for 1 you get to witness change rather good or bad. 2 you would be able to do just about everything that you wanted to do before perishing. Now the cons to the situation is that as you get older your body is not as strong as it used to be which makes it easier for you to get sick. And last but not least you would out grow your friends and family leaving you here all alone for eternal life. All in all if it was up to me I would rather not live forever because it would once become a time that i can't do for my self.

Many believe that eternal youth is a god sent. That it would be amazing to be about to live forever. I agree that living for a long time would be a good idea because one of man's worst fear is death. If there was a drug that could stop death you wouldn't need to watch as the people you loved died and they wouldn't have to watch you die either. Many have feared what comes after death because of the unknown. Many have lost there loved one's to death which has caused a lot of to have pain. If there was a way that modern medicine could to stop death and end all the suffering i would say go for it. Immorality would be a blessing not a curse.

Joshua Johnson

I think being able to live forever is a good thing. By extending your life spand, it gives you a chance to do things that you've never done before. Living longer also can create problems, such as running out of things to do, you are likely to not have a full strength of health, or maybe the world would become over crowded due to the elderly extending there lives and living forever .All in I would want to live forever but unfortunately living has to many negatives than positives.

I think living forever would be good for some people and bad for others. You'll eventually watch everybody you know die around you but that's just something everyone has to deal with sooner or later. You probably might get bored with life in general once you've done everything you could possibly want to do or you could just keep on enjoying the good aspects of life forever which is pretty awesome. Except if its a drug that everyone can get you must think logically about it no one should be allowed to have kids anymore unless you want the rapid population growth to start pushing people of the continents into the ocean or the decay of resources and eventual starvation of everyone. so if this drug existed for everyone then that would be the end of the human race. so if it was just or one person then yeah I guess it would be pretty cool to live forever because you would have more time to figure out what life is about and answer all of those unanswered questions life has presented us with.

Aspen Smith

living forever could be both good and bad for some people , for instance the affluent people wouldn't have have problem because they would be able to afford it and then there's the less fortunate , who honestly wants to work 9-5 for eternity . Then what happens once you get tired of living or your love one's get killed , the only way out is suicide, murder , or a tragic accident. This world is already cruel and cold hearted.
Imagine how over populated the world will become because people are not going to stop having children.
There are many reasons why we can and can't live forever I just don't agree with eternal life for humans on earth.

The quest for immortality is a fools errand. Imagine watching everyone you know dying around you, from sickness or their mistakes. To live life once is a gift, but to live ten times over would be a burden. To love many people and watch them wither and die at the hands of time. To watch your achievements that you were once proud of, to no longer hold any importance to the masses. It would be quite fair to say that time has no meaning to an immortal. Weeks, days, months, even decades hold no significance to a man/woman that would live forever. You would be a walking relic, unrivaled in wisdom. However, after a century or so you'd have accomplished everything possible. You could be skilled in every profession, be the pinnacle of perfection even. Perfection however is drab. Life's imperfections are what make it worth living. Also, who's to say you won't lose your sanity? Even the world's most harden war veterans would lose their minds at the realization that everyone they will ever come to know will die, that any form of relationship would only bring heartache and suffering in the end. Your body may not wither away, but your mind surely will. The best outcome would be suffering multiple personality syndrome, the worst would be fearing other life to the point where you'd kill everything and everyone. Life's a gift and should be cherished for what it provides. Humans as a whole are greedy creatures and will always seek more and more, however as the old saying goes curiosity killed the cat.

“To desire immortality is to desire the eternal perpetuation of a great mistake” Arthur Schopenhauer

The Advantages Of Having A Long Life Is That You Don't Have To Die Knowing That You Are Leaving Your Family Alone. You Can Be There To See Your Family Prosper. You Also Won't Have Others Grieving Over You, And You Can See The World Mature And Grow Older In There Last Days. The Disadvantages Is That You Will Never Be At Peace And Never See God. To live forever defeats the meaning of life and death. What would either mean if we lived forever? While here on earth we are meant to serve our purpose and set our mark on society. How would we have learned how important equality is if our ancestors wouldn't have died for our rights? Living forever is not an advantage at all. There are many things that would be affected if it was. Like the meaning of pain and sorrow. How would I know what it feels like to lose a loved one if I've never had the feeling? How would I know that that feeling soon passes if I've never been through it? Everything happens for a reason. Living forever would defeat the purpose of a meaningful life..

Theirs always someone looking for somting to help them stay alive just a little bit longer. It seem like that everyone is trying to stay here on the earth, but for what reason ? The advantages is this would help if the wiser people stay alive so that they can help out the youth. They also can help out by telling everyone how life was back in the time they living in. They also might can tell the story how they might of did diffrent thing about you, like your sweet and verry pretty. The disadvantages is you might have to see the in long surffing pain. Then again theirs no disadvantages with that. If that was the case God would them stay longer without some medicanal attention.

Pros and cons of suppose "Ever lasting" is not possible. You can't believe that there is a bottle that can guarantee you a longer life and better health. For those who believe in God and read the bible. It says in Exodus 20:12 "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." No man can give you longer life and better health but God. That's what i believe. And sometimes God cut people life's short and some live long enough to see their grandchildren if they have kids of there own.

Avier Ashby

Living a extremely long life is however, good and bad. The medical cures that are made can have any and every chemical or product in it that may can harm or kill you. What if none of that happens to you but it changes your facial and body features completely, then how would you fell? Meanwhile the advantages of taking the medical cure might make you feel complete about yourself. Example, let's say you got the dose of the medication and you started seeing that you were losing weight and started looking way better then you did before. Therefore, if that was to happen, many individuals would get the cure to expand their life living term.

avier Ashby

Living forever would be great for all of us but would you rather live your days to see evil or living your days until it's your time to live at peace .We the people might think it will be good to live for along time but living on earth can be for the good or bad because the earth we live in is hell already . About time the year's gone by , there will be doctor's trying to make a new drug to keep people living as long as they want nobody shouldn't have to suffer their life like that if it's your time it's your time you cant be scared because you want to be in a better world . You can be heald and dont have to worry about no pain , medicine, blood pressure, diabetes, or anything that made you feel that anyone that took your relevants that you thought that was gone be here forever . We say we gone be here forever but anyone knows that the outcome may or may not happend.

In my opinion living a longer life certainly has many benefits such asw spending more time with family and friends, oppurtunities to travel and see more of the world, being around while your great grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up etc. Disadvantages would be everything would keep changing new trends new generations. Also, don't you think you would eventually get bored with life, like who really wants to be 130 years old.

Jessica Chimney (2nd period)
8/28/2014 03:08:21 pm

Regardless whether their is a cure found or not eventually you still could see your loved ones and people that mean a lot to you pass a way cause death doesn't come by age and just because their is a cure found to make you have every lasting life, doesn't mean that this cure could save you from other things in life such as getting shot or stabbed or poisoned etc. So you can't actually say that it's a bad thing to create this cure, because you don't won't to see your children or grandchildren die because they could get murdered or anything in your very presence without you being in old age.

The advantage of longevity has always been considered as a kind of treasure and fortune. And wisdom is usually linked with the elder. Death has always been regarded as something frightening and most people want to live a long life. Living longer means one can stay with his or her family longer and enjoy a happy later life. People spend most of their life doing nothing not cherishing the life they have but at the same time Being blessed with long life is a bad thing because there is so many health problems and a lot of many different complications that come alone that can't be cured. I feel that it is better to live longer, because you can see how the world change. For example technology is for sure is going to change in the next 50 years or so. The pros of living a long life is that you will see your kids, kids, kids grow up. I think that you can still be a mac at 90 years old. For example Hugh Hefner. He was 88 years old and was still ''making''. The cons are if you live to long you might witness your kids dying, and there kids dying. And you think to your self? what else do I have to live for.

I challenge the assertion above the dealing with curse for ageing an waiting to live forever. This may have a couple advantages, like living longer and being able to be with your loved ones, but it has more serious disadvantages. The main disadvantages would be that even though you get to live longer, the older you get the more chances to getting a disease.in other words, why choose to live longer if you are getting more sensible to suffer from bone, heart, or organ problems. This can lead to your death which proves that the cure would not be very useful.

Living a young life is cool cause you get to wonder about your future and what it would be like to be of old age. Then you realize it would suck to be an old person cause you can't do half the stuff you did years ago.

Living forever can cause a severe isolation and depression. Would you really live alone forever all your family died, and so are your friends? The future wont ever be the same without the people you cared. Then again seeing the future and what it holds. It also may give people the chance to learn about the past.

Living a long life is good ,cause you can see everything in the world .... On the other hand it's bad , cause living forever means when your love ones die you will still be here and they will be gone so you will get lonely and miss certain people

fortunately, the idea of having a medicinal product that could keep a person looking as young and vibrant as they may feel, could possibly elevate confidence but forever! Unfortunately, who wants to live in a worldwide of perfection? No one because it would defeat the purposes of the true meanings of life. Ever wonder what's on the other side of the gates? I do and i am quite sure that its breath taking and I wouldn't waste any time trying to look like a person that wasn't intended to go on in this life time. Waiting to see what the good man has in store. An everlasting life story is still being written and patience is the key.

Living in the World for a long time come with advantages and disadvantages, an disadvantage is getting sick and ill over an period of time from the medicine. An advantage is seeing other generations grow and see your family peruse their dreams.

There are both advantages & disadvantages to living forever. To live forever would mean you get to experience just about everything in life that most people wouldn't. Then again you would have to suffer watching all your loved ones die around you, unless they're living forever too.

I definitely feel where you are coming from Meerihk'l Brisby, living a long life would definitely give someone the opportunity to carry out ones dreams and goals, but what is it really all worth if you can't share your objectives with your loved ones if they're not living to witness you accomplish them?

Personally, I feel as though wherever there's a start, there should also be an end. Living forever sounds pleasant at first. However, it comes with inevitable illnesses and aging of the body (internal and external).

Living forever comes with advantages and disadvantages. The advangtages would be they would see all there family grow and live but eventually they get tired of living because nobody wants to sit up and watch all there family grow and die that's very sad to see all your family die. The disadvangtes is getting sick and ill and takin medicine after a period of time the medicine would stop working. Also another disadvangtes is depression u would be very depressed over seeing many things in life happening to your love in after seeing it so many times.

I strongly agree with Demarcus Byrd. I wouldn't be able to live forever I would be very bored and depressed after seeing so many deaths but I would enjoy watching my family and loved ones grow and seeing them become successful in life .

When living for a long time, you would have been through so much in your life. Living for a long time is a blessing because you would've gotten the opportunity to simply live a longer life. You would be a great source of wisdom and other things. However, living for a longer period of would also bring solace in your life because you would've lived the possibility of outliving your loved ones and that's not fair.

I feel like there is no way you can stay alive forever everyone has to die eventually

Living forever? Everyone wishes but at the end of the day its not what you would really desire. To me once you get older your life slowed down and your not as mobile as you was when you were younger.

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.
