Is it Enough?

Is belief in yourself all you really need to succeed? I hear a lot of people say you need money, time, the right environment, school or situation. Some go so far as to note they need better parenting and upbringing to succeed.

Nevertheless, quotes like the one above, lifestyle experts, business pros and motivational gurus all say that all you need is to believe in yourself. But what does that mean? I'm sure there are a lot of people who believe in themselves in this world who are still sick, stuck, and broke, and can't figure out how to either get out of their situation or make a more positive one happen.

Where does talent, skill and acumen fit into the equation? Wouldn't you need some of that in addition to belief in order to reach success? Albert Einstein said, "Genius is 1% talent and 99% percent hard work." If that is true, then isn't hard work more important than merely believing in yourself?

It is true, that hard work is more important than merely believing in yourself. Don’t grow a wishbone where a backbone ought to be. With all honesty, it is hard work that will give you your dreams and aspirations. If you believe in luck and don’t work hard, than you will never achieve your goals and dreams. There is a saying that I believe in when I use luck and that is, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, because if you work hard for it, than there is a high percent chance, that you will get your dreams.

Well, C Swann; it appears to me hoping for something helps reflect into Why we belief in something. Luck to me do not have a place with brief or maybe as one believe is how one may succeed. With gifts, talents, and a positive work actionable work ethic one can receive a blessing or what another person may call luck. Banking on luck makes one alter his or her belief faster especially if fails.

I disagree. Many people who are successful right now say they put in a lot of work but they also say “I never expected to make it this far”. Not believing in yourself doesn’t mean your success won’t happe, it just doesn’t give you a clear idea of how far you will go.

Believing in yourself will only take you on a quarter of your journey. Good work ethic will take you the rest of the way. In the Bible it says “Faith without work is dead” . This means you can believe in your dream all you want but with putting in hard work, your project won’t get off the ground. Those people who believe in themselves and haven’t seen any progress are most likely not putting in enough work. Talent and skill can make the process easier, but it’s not needed. If you want something to happen, you learn and absorb information about whatever it is your heart is set on, and keep practicing and you will achieve it.

The believing part is very important because I’m prettt sure nobody is just believing in thin air. For them to believe there has to be something to believe in. So the work behind the belief is vital. Believing is an important step of a dream, but with believing alone, you will not get it. In agreement, there has to be something that you believe in that will influence you to work hard. To be honest, they both play a crucial role in someone achieving their goals. However, it is through hard work alone, that you will get your dreams.

In my opinion, I think that self-belief and hard work will always earn you success. I also think that luck is undependable meaning that people always lean towards it but luck seems to always be against them. I believe success is preparation,hard work, learning from failures, and having a purpose of why you are doing what your doing. And I agree that hard pays off but it don't pay off unless you "believe" in the work your putting in. Because opportunities can sometimes be disguised as hard work that is the reason most people don't recognize them.

I believe belief in yourself is all one really need to succeed. A person must trust, write the vision and focus on his or her goals to maintain until succeeding as believe. Believing and pushing through eliminates one from failing if stays focus and strive not allowing anyone or anything to detour them. This makes me think about peer pressure of bullying. One could really fail self by giving life to someone else who don’t believe in that person. Even some people feel like parents at times tell they rebellious child that he/she won’t amount to nothing. I can vouch that better parenting would’ve make a difference in one’s life by helping the growing one to learn, live, and know how to create a legacy. Some are still broke or stagnant because he or she stop believing. Of course, knowing, but not acting or doing creates an unveiling outcome as faith without works is dead. We must believe and then act or do to achieve or succeed. Talents, skill, and acumen fits as these are products of success and are apart of belief/ doing mindset and attitude to succeed.

There are many steps into getting something trivial or very ambiguous done. One of the first steps is that you do need to "believe in yourself". Then once you have that mindset you can go full force into your passion. One thing that might help us to not surround yourself by people who believe " you're a product of your environment" by comparing you to other people. Ive delt with this first hand as well as the students of Lancaster high school as we get compared to the "people across the bridge".

Believing in yourself is important, but so is working hard for what you want. You cannot expect things just be handed to you for any reason at all. Although believing in yourself goes a long way when you have a goal. If you are constantly telling yourself, "I can't," "Its too hard," "I tried my best," You are only bringing yourself down. You need to motivate yourself to do better than just meet expectations, you need to excel to meet your desires.

Believing in yourself and working hard, to me are equally nesseccary. If you don't believe in yourself, you'll be easily discouraged and not motivated to work. But believing in yourself with out putting in the hard work will leave you with nothing. The recipe for success is a balance of both.

It is extremely important to have faith in ourselves. That plays a big role in encouraging us to do better. However it is more important to put in the actual effort to get to where we want to be in life. It is pointless to spend all of your time believing, because believing is only a fraction in the equation for success. People need to understand that in order to make things happen, YOU need to make them happen, and that can only be achieved through endless effort and action.

The question is do you have the confidence to overcome those bumps? Self confidence reassures whether you should prosper on or decline the journey. "Hard work beat talent when talent does not work hard." At first ,when I was younger, I never believed this quote. I always said if I got the talent im going to make it regardless. However as I started to get older I realized that my faith, hope, and talent can only meet me half of the way. Some way some how I was going to have to bring in hard work because nothing is just promised to me and is at my fingertips to grab. In order for something to happen, I have to make that initial step and put in the effort for the desire outcome.

In order for success to come into anyone’s life, you have to put in hard work. Having just hope and dreams but not willing to chase them is pointless. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream which we’re kind of living in today but without his dedication, persistence, and hard working we would still be separated. People’s dreams and beliefs die everyday when no actions are put behind it. A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.

I believe that believing in yourself and hard work must work together in order for someone to succeed. Even if someone worked the hardest that they could towards their goal, they could not do that if they did not believe in themselves. Self-encouragement and evaluation is crucial for ones mental state and performance. Without the belief in onceself, the person would probably give up early in their journey. Although that is part of being successful, you also need dedication, hard work, and focus. I was always brought believing in “hard work and determination” is how you will be successful, as well as believing in myself. There has to be a balance with both to get anywhere. Because I can sit in my room all day and believe I will be successful. But if I do not put forth any hard work or effort I won't be anything. Though if I am working my tail off and I don't believe in myself then nobody else will give me a chance. If I don't believe that I am worth a second glance then employers will not give me that second glance. Success is a formula and a melody of mixture, you won't obtain it unless you have all the needed ingredients.

I think that it takes alot of failing and trying again to be successful. It will never come easy but it starts with yourself in order to make it come true. Only a low person will say I believe and try once and give up only because they really didn’t believe. In order to help yourself you also need a support team to stand behind you it’s just better to know people are in your corner. It don’t all come at once but when it does all the hard work and support will have a purpose.

Growing up with everything being handed to you doesn't build work ethic whatsoever. I believe if never being comfortable in life so I think believing in yourself plays apart in success. Being hardworking and committed is the most important out of all. Having not everything being handed to you can push you to be more successful than your peers in a way. Believing in yourself is the first step in succeeding. If a person were to try something new without thinking they could do it, they would most likely fail. Believing in yourself is a mindset that allows a person to understand their potential and is a form of motivation to try the unknown. Hard work is required in any venture a person tries to pursue, no matter how small that venture may be. However, there would be no reason to work hard without having the mindset of knowing you can do that task. We should take the advice of these successful moguls and icons and believe that we have the potential to do great things before we try to work for it.

I was always told “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” and I complete agree with it. When you work hard for something & dedicated to something you are destined for great results. Even if you may not believe in yourself, if you do everything with great effort you will see results & soon gain the confidence to believe in everything you do. Many times other people may believe in you before you believe in yourself but that doesn’t mean you can not grow or get better. I dont not believe that hard work is the most important part, however I do believe it plays a big role in becoming successful. I think that belief in one’s self is the the most important part of the equation. If you don't believe in yourself then how will you be motivated? Even though belief in one’s self is the key, being able to put in the work to be successful is also important and will determine how others perceive you. If you’re constantly practicing and someone sees you, you will stand out to them. If you just believe in yourself and don’t show no one will believe in you or push you to your full potential.

For most believing in them selves is hard work. We are always surrounded by “i cants” or other excuses but never “i can.” Being able to have a positive mindset and thinking makes situations and work a lot easier becuase you go into every situation with confidence. Having a leveled headspace and fufilled thoughts is important and encouraged by many successful people. Many say things like “speak it into existence” and believe it. You have to believe in yourself before others believe in you.

Nobody works hard and doesn't believe in themselves, because if they didn't believe then they wouldn't be putting any effort into what they are doing at all. When you set goals you have to work your butt off to get to them, but you also have to believe that you will achieve those said goals. So, both of these methods go hand and hand. You really can't have one without the other.

I understand why many say all you have to do is believe in yourself because I think having the confidence will definitely get you places. Other than having confidence I think hard work plays a HUGE role in success. If you stay dedicated to what you want and you put all your effort into it then you will soon be successful but you work hard because you also believe in yourself. Life is hard and things don’t just come handed to you. Another part that I think plays a good role in being successful is being optimistic. Anyone can believe in themselves but not everyone can put forth the effort to do the work. I think all of the qualities are interconnected or at the least, they are not meant to stand alone. Believing in yourself is essential since it allows you to recognize and realize your full potential, yet while it's certainly beneficial, believing in yourself can only take you so far. Your goals are not going to be achieved based on pure belief. You will need to put in the hard work, and the same can be said about talent and skill. You may be the most talented person in the world, but if you don’t work hard nor believe in yourself, the chances of succeeding become slim.

That's really what the problem is. Everyone says what they want or what they're going to do but never do it. The first and most important step to success is HARD WORK. I can speak for myslef and say that i put in work but not enough work to be able to accomplish what I want. Well I take that back I only put in work for things I honestly WANT. That's anotyer thing too you have to actually WANT to acoomplish your childhood goals.

Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. Everybody is born different in the same way. The way you are raised effects your future a lot. But the biggest lesson is when you get thrown into the real world and have bills and responsibilities. It'll make you feel the pressure of surviving.

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought.
