Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. ~John Dewey

If my classroom walls could talk, what would they whisper to me about your experience in my classroom as the prelude to your senior year?

Respond in no more than five sentences and no less than three. You must also reply to a classmate's post. You cannot post identical comments on different classmates' posts. Posting shallow comments such as "I agree" or "I disagree" will not earn you a passing grade. Ex. #2: [Student's name], I disagree because ___________.

Be sure to--
  • Be clear about your position
  • Provide specific support for your argument
  • Use rhetorical devices and other grammar elements
  • Write EPIC Content (Engaging, Powerful, Informative, Creative)

CAUTION!! Do NOT embarrass me, yourself, your class, the English department, the school or your parents with tasteless, meaningless comments. This is for a grade.

If your walls could talk they would tell you about how much I have had to really put in some effort in order to pass your class. The things that you give me make me really sit down and think. They would tell you about how I have to prepare myself to work when I am on my way to your class. They would also tell you about how your classroom prepared me for all my other classes, because I know that if I can't get pass your class then my grades in my other classes wouldn't be anything nice. Last but not least they would tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you don't hold back anything with us.

If your classroom walls could talk they would tell you how much I've learned in your class they would also, tell you how much I've grown as a better writer and also how I've grown as a better person and student. If your classroom walls could talk they would tell you how you taught me to be open to talk about any and everything and that I have to work hard for what I want. Furthermore , I love the fact that your so open with us and that you are getting us ready for college.

They would tell you how much you changed me from telling me all the harmful hot chips, McDonald's burger lol, and some other things that make you sick and feel bad and destroys your body. Also you showed us that nothing come easy. Saying "When you always do what you've always done, you're going to always get what you've always gotten". ~ Mrs. d~ that quote there changed my whole perspective about things.

Victoria Miller
11/12/2014 01:02:37 am

The walls would probably say Ms. d is a hard teacher, but you will not leave her class without learning something. She wants the best for her students and if that means being hard on them, then that's what she is going to do. In the beginning she will have you second guessing on if you should stay in her class or not, but at the end you will be glad that you stayed.

Arreon Rose

If your walls could speak they would say how they seen people come to me for help with their writing because you as a teacher made me believe that I can be one of the best writers in the world. If your walls could talk they'll say to you " well done " because you believed in me when I didn't believe in myself.

Cinthya Vergara

Jessica Chimney
11/12/2014 01:09:37 am

If your classroom walls could talk, they would tell you how I have let myself get easily distracted in your class. I try to understand half the things you teach but don't really get it all the times, but that's still my fault cause I never ask. I don't give my all in this class. Some days I be half way here, and I talk a little to much at times. I would do better in a smaller crowd or a different group of students.

Taylor Dilworth
11/12/2014 03:48:23 am

I agree I have been easily distracted as well.

Ms. d
11/12/2014 06:17:19 am

Ms. Chimney,

You are about to be an adult. The world is not going to bend because you can't focus. That is something you have to find within. The world is not small. The workforce is not small. Even if you work for yourself, you will have distractions that you have to tune out to get things done. Otherwise, you will not eat.

So please, do YOURSELF a favor, and stop making excuses. Get. Life. Done.

Good luck!

If your classroom walls could talk they would tell you that you did a tremendous job teaching us how to write a real paper. The walls would tell you that when I first came to your class I didn't really know what I was doin. You thought us the importants of learning the right way to write an essay. You thought us the something that we will need to know for years to come.

Na'Tajiyah LaCour
11/12/2014 01:21:04 am

The walls of your class room would whisper to you and say that "tough love is sometimes what your students need because no one will be there to hold their hand anymore." " Adult hood is approaching tenaciously, and you have prepared your students for opportunity when it arrives but it is up to them to have a destination." "Considering everyone's prospective and thoughts is a beginning of a new chapter to a higher level of understanding each and every one of your students, you are an outstanding teacher and mentor." Leaving your class means that we as students are not afraid to go out into the "cold world" because our teacher has provided us with an armor that can not be broken.

If your classroom walls could talk they probably tell you that the method your are using to teach your students, and try to preparer them for next step in college is a great method. Even though, students probably do not like it, it will still help when they go to college because is it an assimilation on what are they going to see in college.

If your classroom walls had a mouth they would describe how playful we were as a class. They would also state how when ever we buckle down and do our work then we can be very successful as a class. The walls woul see all the things we do in class behind the teachers back, whether it's taking a pencil without permission, or if it was horse playing with a fellow classmate. Over all the classroom walls of Mrs. D's class would show how well prepared and how good of a teacher she is.

The walls would tell you that I struggle in your class. You are not like a regular teacher when it comes to work. You actually strive and go beyond to teach us how to become better writers

If you walls could talk, they'd tell you how much I value life now more than ever. I've learned how to use literary techniques, and I've learned how to spot them in text while reading. I'm on my way to becoming a better writer because of your teaching methods.

If classroom walls could talk, many debates could be brought to attention. Our learning experience is good, but it may differ from what the "walls" would be able to see. Would the walls tell someone? Maybe although, the walls would display our stuggle and our well being in the classroom environment.

If your walls could talk they would tell you that I struggled a lot but I worked hard to figure it out after you said "yo bad". I also learned to take my time and plan out essays. Lowkey your class was hard . But I'm sure these walls gone be like "she deserve a A off top!"

If the class room walls could speak, they'd speak of my growth in the knowledge of English. They would speak of how hard I have worked to better myself as a writer. Stories of how I helped my class mates would also come to surface. My story would be one of trumph.

If the classroom walls could talk , they would discuss the topics I've struggled with. Also the many things I've learned such as being a better writer, really didnt have a choice.

I'f your walls could talk. They would tell you that you are my favorite teacher at the school. Why because you keep it to real. You aren't going to beat around the bush you gone tell it like it is. Straight live and direct and don't give a D@mn who don't like it. That's what they would tell you.

If my class room walls can talk, they would probably say I should apply myself and don't follow the crowd. I really want to learn and make it fat in life but when I'm put in class where classmates are disrespectful. So as a quiedt student I sit there ignoring the lesson and pay attention whwn I want too. After three years I'm learning but have no having a good habit.Learning that I well do more in my senior year, being able to put my work timw first

If these walls could speak they would talk about our good times our class had. The laughs. The conversation. The vibe. Along side of those times we also had serious & learning times. Half of us walked into this class not knowing half of the things we know now. The walls would speak nothing but good things about Mrs.D and her ability to teach as well as she do. The walls would know that we will walk out of this class more educated than ever because of Mrs.D.

I completely agree with the statement. Education is the most important thing ever. Without education there is no life, life would be completely pointless if thre was no education. There is not a defined poi t to life yet and with education we can actually try to fugure out why we ARE HERE. Educatiin might actually be the reason we are here on this earth.

If the classroom walls could talk they would say what exactly what Ms. d would say, from what she taught, to the stories she told. She put every thing she told us on those walls, to the point were she could have said "just study the wall and y'all pass." The literary work, informationl text, the a.c.e. strategy, the 10 things that make me smile, parts of speech, annotation, and etc. Can't express how much I've learned but those walls can.

If your classroom walls could talk they'll tell you that you're the only English teacher that really helped improve my writing skills. Furthermore it'll tell you that I've learned a lot in your class not only about writing but about real life situations. Finally I look up to you, you've inspired me to achieve my goals in life.

Im not sure what your walls would say if they talked, it would depend on who they were talking about. Me personally, I think Ive learned a bit more on how to annotate a passage.

If the walls in your classroom could talk, they would tell you about all the enjoyable moments we had in your classroom. Also, they would tell you about how my cell phone stayed glued to my hand. Lastly, they would tell you how you opened my eyes to the real world. We wrote about real life situations and things that applied to our situation. This opened our eyes and expanded our outlook on things and put us into a higher set of thinking.

I think this class has helped me get a better picture of how things really work, and how things should be done and the right way they should be done. I think this class can help any student achieve what they want and answer any questions they might have.

If the walls could talk then it would explain how being in this class we have grown in many ways .One way is that we have enhanced our vocabulary ,we have learned how to relatevreal life experiences to the school when we are writing. .

    Mixed Ink

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.

    Bridge Builders

All subjects are vital to learning, but  English is the bridge of communication. So let's build the arch, one word at a time...
