The artist is trying to give this message to say if your child sees you drinking, smoking, gambling, etc they will go off of what they know and go into a bad path. If your child sees you reading your bible and being a good Christian they will follow what they know and take a good path. But either way your child is going to imitate you whether it's a good influence or bad. They will imitate you because they only go off of what you teach them.So the best thing to do is to always be a good influence.

The artist is trying to convey that little kids look up to the elders because to them there are their super hero. So what ever the kids see is what they think is okay to do because they see the elders do it. Not every elder is aware of what they do can influence kids to do the same either it's negative or positive. Kids only do what they learned either if the elders taught them or they saw the elders do it. Not everything you do may influence them but you can never be to careful. Kids are very dependent on elders so being a role model for them can be hard at times but never let them see the negative side of the world always influence them to be positive.

I agree with you, the reason being is that many adults think that kids don't pay attention often so they do things without thinking. Soon the kids starting thinking well if they do this it must be okay, and thats where it all takes place. Maybe if the adults payed more attention to what they do and say things can change for the better.

The message the author is trying to advertise is monkey see , monkey do. Meaning every thing starting from a child being born until adulthood can be a effect on the child mind on what's right or wrong and things I should do or shouldn't do. Children will always refer to "well my mom/dad do it , why not me? People and parents should take caution and be aware of what they do around there kids because kids pick up where you left off.

I agree of what you are saying but you can't put all the blame on just people and the parents around the children. How about the children's actions? How about the children that other children hang around? Parents try their best to keep their kids from doing the bad things that they did as a child.

"Live so that when your children think of fairness, caring, and integrity, they think of you," a quote by H.Jackson Brown Jr. With all honesty, the author is trying to show that, whatever an adult does in front of a child, a child may do it, even if it is wrong. For example, if a child is raised by parents drinking in front them, then that kid might grow up and drink too. With that being said, I say things like that, to make me feel free and not guilty about the situation, because blaming others always seems to be a way out. In conclusion, parents should watch what they around kids, because it might influence them to have a good or bad lifestyle when grown.

Children seem to have their own outlook on life, constantly living by "monkey see, monkey do...". They have a tendency to mimic the actions that take place in their environment without second guessing the possible consequences. The author reveals that all children are exposed to (both) the good, as well as the bad. Even though us adults have to face a very harsh reality, dealing with difficult trials and tribulations on a daily, our responsiblity as role models must remain intact. We must steer our youth onto the right path, no matter what negative influences may stand in the way, simply because we want them to do and become better.
Children will continue to mimic everything we do, but we must make make sure that our choices are worth mimicking.

Jessica Reaux-2nd

I couldn't agree more. Children are prone to reenact exactly what they see others do. By relating back to kids, "... having a tendency to mimic the actions that takes place in their environment," I believe that it is clearly shown in today's society. Today's children are known to wear makeup and lesser clothing because they looked up to social media as an outlet or their parents. By investing their time into other issues, sometimes not even on purpose, adults influence the actions of children, it doesn't matter from who. People should pay more attention to what their children are doing to prevent casualties.

The author is trying to reveal that kids behave on what's in sight. You give them a bad example they copy that . You give them a good example they follow that also but the way you present it to them in a firmly manner declares whether or not if they will be good or bad. Children who imitate good manners in the beginning of there child hood you think they are most likely to succeed. In some cases that's not a fact The under managed children taught to do unruly things can be successful later in life. Given what the author is saying children imitate their surroundings is true in most cases yet their outcome is surprising it's all in the advocate's hands or guardian.

I believe that the artist of this photograph is trying to reveal to the audience that children are influenced by what they see adults do. By acknowledging both aspects of the image-- negative and positive-- I noticed that he/she is portraying the deeper undertone of what lies when these issues occur and how the children will visualize this as. I interpretated that the young lady is fully intelligent of what is happening around her and the desk is her mind, absorbing the information. As this occurs, adults are not aware of their infliction of these worrisome things. The artist wants people to understand the importance of what the adults are filling into a child's mind daily. By stoping to recognize they're doing this, it could possibly stop them from harmful tendencies once they are old enough to understand.

Ah'Miya Jordan-Hawkins
4/30/2016 05:07:49 am

Couldn't have explained this better myself. As adults, we must claim responsiblity and be weary of our actions. We must realize that we are being watched by children who visualize us as role models, and aspire to be us some day.

The artist of the picture was trying to reveal that children have many different roads to follow. Children are presented with so many life choices due to music, TV and their environment. One good or bad choice leads to another and depicts who they will grow up to be. The path of drugs and violence, and good values and education are both presented. It is up to parents and the children themselves to know right from wrong and not let bad choices take over them.

For instance like shooting , their parents being an acholic and also being drugged with the use of social media and the use of a cell phone . Elders so have an impact on children, but there are sime adults who tend to have the desire to teach their children in a careless manner. However, some children grow up to be the complete opposite of a negative lifestyle but some do not. There's always children how turn unto young adults and never did they think about anything they did as an issue so how can we know the little girl does not wish to pursure a negative lifestyle? Does her opinion even matter given that she's a minior and must follow her teachings?

I you are going down the wrong path then it will be very easy for those that are around you the most (your children) to follow in your footsteps. They think that it is ok if mommy does it or it is good because daddy does it. Parents are the biggest influences in the lives of their children. The artist is trying to say is when kids see there guardian do something over and over they start doing it. Like smoking, drinking, going to church. They don't now whats right and wrong when they see it everyday. That's why some people say make sure you do the right thing in front of your child, because they will copy off of you. The artist is trying to express how children are exposed to many different things and they're just like little sponges. If they're exposed to so many bad things, they begin to think that it's okay to do these things. It's the same as those who are exposed to the good things, those who are being taught to do the right thing and keep God first. Sometimes children are monkey see monkey do, so whatever they hear or see they're going to mock it. Children in today's time see something they think is okay and they run with it. Even if no one has taught them right or wrong they're going to go by what they feel is right.

This picture is a statement and visual of our generation. Our kids are looking up to certain people and things that are the bad causes of what is causing our world to become what it is. These days our kids are influenced easily and they do whatever they think is cool .So to be cool they end up doing drugs or being caught up in a situation that's hard to get out of .On the other hand those who are being taught the right thing have the wisdom of their parents knowing right from wrong , but it's really not the kids fault because they were born into this world and it wasn't there choice to be here .

The artist of this photograph is showing a little girl surrounded by all this violence but she is sleeping on it, she doesn't notice it. She also is sleeping on religion, showing that the new generation is moving away from religion. Religion is one of the main causes of a war anyway so it putting her outside of any violence. But she is also black which shows racism by putting a black kid around all this violence in this world. The education system is screwed up because it showing weapons and drugs in a school which puts children at a greater risk of exposure to violence.

The author is basically saying, that everything we do now as people is going to have a big affect on the generations to come. The reason being is they wont know any better because they'll follow in our footsteps. The picture has a little girl sleeping with weapons, drugs ,alcohol and, religion. The fact that shes sleeping through all of this shows the next generation will not know what to do and thay will only make things worse, because they are sleeping on all of the violence and doing nothing to stop it. Its like when your parents asked you " if your friends jump off a cliff will you jump with them?" Meaning that you dont have to do everything they do. Its a good example because if the next generation decides to continue doing everything thats happening in todays world there might be nothing but corruption in the future.

The artist uses the illustration to show the impact we have on young lives. We must always remember to watch what we do around the younger ones because they are watching. The illustrations shows the many things people are expose to in life as they grow up. If you put a child around guns and drinking and smoking all their life, that is all they will know. The artist of the photograph is trying to unveil a really political issue in the new generation today. Most of the comments I read mainly gave examples from a child and a mother or father stand point. It's not just what the kids these days see their parents do, it could also be a social media post or a famous rapper that's giving off bad examples to kids. Nowadays the kids in this new generation want to grow up like rappers they hear in songs or the gang bangers holding stacks of money. The new generation tries to follow the "coolest" trend out, no matter if it's drugs , drinking alcohol or wearing ripped jeans. The new generation is brainwashed and that's why the world is in the situation it's in today.Furthermore, certain parents make sure their kids are in the right environment to be successful and make sure their kids have a good head on their shoulders. The artis wants people to acknowledge that kids these days only look up to what they see, and sooner than later they'll be headed in the wrong direction before you know it.

"The meaning of the quote, that children are great imitators, is related to the photograph given. Around the child is represented the different and greatest idols that are recognized around the world. The gun for violence. The Bible for religion. The notebook for education. The alcohol and lighter for alcohol, cigarette, and maybe even drug abuse. The author is trying to reveal that children are like sponges and they absorb everything. The habits that surround their environment impacts their lives because your upbringing is a major factor . All this determines what children will do or accept in their life. For example the Bible says Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old , he will not depart from it meaning the child will grow with everything that surround them or being taught. The author is also showing the traumatizing things our children are being exposed to everyday , Some may be positive and some maybe negative.

I believe the author is trying to reveal, how well children can catch on to things, and imitate them as if they were pros. No matter what it may be, as long as it is interesting, they will imitate it. However, depending on how their parents raised them, and what all they are exposed too, can differ highly. If it's a positive impact, as shown above, the holy bible, and the composition notebook, shows learning is involved. Not to mention the negative things in the picture, such as the gun, the dice, the alcohol, etc. can leads a good child into the wrong path. Teach them the good in life and they will succeed, but teach them the bad and they will continue to mess up their life.

For example, kids are taught to read the bible, early in life, get saved and they will have an relationship with God and be blessed. Also,it shows that kids have a decision, even if it is good or bad. For example, the girl can choose to, use the gun, smoke, and drink alcohol, which are bad things. She can also choose to read the bible and develop a relationship with God, which is an good thing to do. Life has many choices that can lead to different path. The author is trying to convey a meaningful influence that social and traditional customs obtain toward the human mind during its development. As seen in the photograph, there are negative options such as alcohol, a gun and a lighter among a bible, religious necklace and a schol journal. These are prime examples of routes the human mind follows during a developing stage. Childreb develop with customs they are exposed to in everyday life and social showings. Another feature is the fact that the little girlis black, this can imply that the author's purpose was to further expand the message toward minorities. One can infere minorities tend to influence the younger minds toward a negative lifestyle. Overall, the image displays that the human mind develops as we age. Therefore, exposing children to such negative lifestyles will only impact society and their personal life which is especially seen in thr minority groups.

The artist is implying social scripts, or cognitive representations of how to act in certain situations, in this photograph. When this young girl is confronted with new situations, she may rely on such social scripts she's seen her external environment react to. The artist captures the young girl around everyday items symbolizing religion, education, violence, wealth and possibly drugs. Only her enviroment at home and TV plant such items in this childs life. Only we, as adults, can allow/ disallow what goes into young children's minds. In return, our influences will greatly take a toll on her own choices.

In the picture above the artist is trying to reveal to the reader that children often recreate lifestyle choices by watching others. In order for children to become successful and great they must be shown a perfect example to absorb the mentors visual feed. Children often learn how to conduct themselves from visual learning usually from older siblings, parents, or any other older person. What ever a child sees will most likely have an affect on them as the go into adulthood. Children always need an well decent adult to follow under to learn how to act. What ever you place in from of a child is what they'll tend to be.
