That would look SO much more fulfilling if that money was replaced with books!

I believe that he has accomplished everything he needs. We get an education to make better money and he has acheived that without a good education

Ms. d

Has he? Could he have even more if he could read? Who can he REALLY trust to interpret?

No jecoree jones, you can never have enough money nor education .... All you can do is stretch it or compress it.

Loryn King

No, skipping educational opportunities because of money is an ignorant decision. We fell to realize money come and go , but a degree no one can take that from you. It shows your effort towards wealth.

Floyd is getting very big headed if he would of stopped boxing. And ran out of money he would be broke .Because he dropped outta high school so he would be a nobody but he has a lot of money I mean a lot.

Taylor Dilworth
10/2/2014 11:29:05 am

I Agreed Until The End . Look At Floyd Mayweather And Look At Oprah. Floyd Mayweather Dropped Out Of High School And Has Accomdated What Millions . When He's Old That Will Be All He Has . But Oprah Has A Degree And Is Poised To Become The Worlds First Female African American BILLIONAIRE. Think About It

ms. d

Miss Dilworth, Oprah is already the first female black billionaire and was the only black billionaire from 2004 to 2006.

I do not think that having money is success.you can have money and be a drug dealer. Success is determined by your character.

DeMarcus Byrd
10/1/2014 11:43:48 pm

I agree. success is measured by your character.

Tiara Jackson
10/4/2014 08:39:55 pm

I disagree I don't think having money means success because money doesn't define you , character does.

Alex Bennett
10/2/2014 02:48:45 am

I agree completely. It also depends on HOW you spend it, donating millions to charity is successful.

dominique hemphill
10/2/2014 09:44:10 pm

I absolutely agree with you Hannah.. success is not having alot of money.

DeQuelyn Adams
10/3/2014 01:27:33 pm

I disagree Hannah. I know a lot of successful drug dealers

Ms. d
10/3/2014 01:54:37 pm

Define success, Mr. Adams. Because to me, having to watch my back and my family's backs all the time is not success. Because real success, also means having peace of mind. Does it not?

Christian E Forehand
10/1/2014 09:18:10 pm

Exchanging money for education is stupid. Success to me is when you accomplish goals you set, including getting an education. If you have money like that you should put yourself through another another education level and become more successful. If i had the money Floyd has i would put myself through college and extra educational classes to be more successful.

Domenic Brown
10/2/2014 12:48:27 pm

I agree. Trading your education for money is very moronic. When you are determined to accomplish your goals in life.
Floyd has a lot of money, but has no education, he can not even read correctly, if he ended up bankrupted and left with no money he would be nothing because he has no money.

hannah julius
10/1/2014 10:22:08 pm

I agree. Money is not success. Education is more important.

DeMarcus Byrd
10/1/2014 11:41:55 pm

To skip educational opportunities in exchange for money is not success, its greed. Knowledge is power and power breeds money. But if you got all this money and no degree to put behind your name or no educational background then what are you? You are a fool who has money but no educational guidance.

1 Timothy 6:10- "For the love of money is the root of all evil"

Hector Castillo
10/2/2014 04:02:53 am

DeMarcus, I have the exact same opinion. Nobody should be just "okay" with just getting money they should go further beyond them self.

Alex Bennett
10/2/2014 02:47:39 am

Having a net worth of 10 million dollars isnt success unless you got it with actual talent. Skills and character define success, not how many 100 dollar bills you carry around.

Cari Armstrong
10/2/2014 12:52:31 pm

I strongly agree with Alex because it does skill& character to built success

Hector Castillo P.5
10/2/2014 03:59:03 am

The statement about "Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction.", reminds me of every time Ms. D says " whats more important a job now or going to college and getting a career." In this case its all about the person character and what makes them satisfy, going to college is the educational opportunity and getting that high paying career is true success, but having a job is faster in getting money and less of a hassle. In conclusion having money is not true success, but having to work and take those opportunities are the real passage to success.

Taylor Dikworth
10/2/2014 11:24:17 am

The Bible Says The LOVE Of Money Is The Root Of ALL Evil .. So If You Are Willing To Quit School To Make Money Then You Have Little To No Values. School Is The BackBone To Any And Everything We Do . THERE is Always Money To Be Made Without An Education But With One You Can Open Endless Possibilities .

Skipping on your education just to get money is not the right thing to do . Education comes first before anything you do in life . How are you going to be successful if you don't have or know the knowledge and skills of English , math , social studied or science . Going straight into your career and getting money everyday is not going to help you succeed in life , in other words people are going to have to do all your work for you because of your lack of knowledge and skills , so I think it's better to learn than to get money without knowing your education .

Domenic Brown
10/2/2014 12:41:18 pm

I disagree. Money is not everything, it is true that money can get you anything that makes you happy, but it does not get the satisfaction of being truly happy. Also that having an education makes everything more fulfilling, you can get rich off of doing what you love by having an education .

Joshua Johnson

Ms. d

If it's everything Mr. Johnson, why is it then, that so many rich people are the unhappiest of all?

Cari Armstrong

I disagree with this because money is the main thing people want ,not to justify that you do need education but if you have a lot of money you can just pay for your education an do it on your own time

Brandon T. Moore Jr.
10/2/2014 02:32:01 pm

Success has nothing to do with how wealthy you are, success is you achieving your goals and being happy while doing so. If money is the main reason you are happy then you have no real base of happiness. Money without knowledge is sinceless, it's like giving a five year old ten million dollars and expecting him to make mature and rational decisions. So no, exchanging education for money is not success.

Money would never be the answer to anything. This doesn't help with anything, the only thing money is doing rueing the people life.

Joshua Johnson
10/2/2014 02:42:38 pm

In this World success is based off how wealthy u are. Half the stuff teachers teach you are not going to use it outside of school. Education is a guide to help you become financially well off. I think becoming rich with out need much education at great. It's a lot of smart people out here that can even barely provide for their.

ms. d.
10/3/2014 03:33:39 pm

That's absolutely not true. In every aspect of my life, I've used what I learned in school. Science in cooking, history at family reunions and when knowing how to vote, and english and math...the list is endless! I'm not sure what world YOU live in, but in mine and many others' wealth does not a successful man make. Family, integrity, having goals, love, etc., does not require money. If what you're saying were true, why go to school at all? And if you look at the education of most of those who are wealthy, why are they SO wealthy? Because they went to school. Athletes and rappers included. *flips hair, walks off.

Cinthya Vergara

Money without education is not success. That's easy money. unlike Mayweather, there's many people who have degrees and earn, maybe not the same amount of money as Floyd, but who feel like they accomplished something with their knowledge. What would Mayweather do if he was to lose all his money without having ATLEAST a diploma.

ms. d.
10/3/2014 03:45:24 pm

Right! He cannot read so...where does that lead him? Constantly always depending on someone else to help him feel his way through the language of life?

Tylen Hughes
10/2/2014 02:57:00 pm

It depends on the type of. Money you are dropping your education. For if its quick money no its not a success if its money that will sustain you for a long time then yes it is a success

ms. d
10/3/2014 03:43:49 pm

Does that give you peace of mind? If you cannot READ, you have to always rely on others to help you get by. No matter how sustaining that is, is that success?

Keylan Grayson
10/2/2014 02:57:15 pm

Making money is good and all but, I think school would be better than making money. If your money-making plan doesn't work, if you have your degree or education then you can have something to fall back on.

T'Anna Smith
10/2/2014 03:33:57 pm

I agree with Keylan, making money can fail but by having an education it could be your back up plan.

Jamison Cobb
10/2/2014 03:13:21 pm

If your passion can sustain you and your lifestyle then by all means trade money for education . But , if you cannot succeed after trading your fortune for a priceless education than that is the biggest fault in your life.

Te'Rik Green
10/2/2014 04:48:46 pm

Skipping educational opportunities for money, in a way, could be a count for success. Education is always there for people. It will also hurt a person because they will sign contracts without understanding what the contract really says. They will not make the right decisions for themselves. No one should be miseducated in a cold, harsh world that doesn't mind using you for its own needs. Education is important, missing it is never considered success.

Robert Wallace

Its Not Success Because If Something Happends To Him Which Cost Him His Boxing Career , He Wouldn't Beable To Do Anything Because He Has No Education

Avier Ashby
10/2/2014 06:45:44 pm

To me, its never oK to have money and not know to read , regardless of what it is. Floyd Mayweather is however, a good boxer and has millions and millions of dollars but what if he gets hurt and can't box anymore? what if he never can box anymore ? Then what would he do? it shouldn't matter how good a career take u in life , it should be education first then followed by a career. At the end of the day education takes a toll in your life fundamentally.

Some people get blinded by the materialistic things that they forget about the more important things such as an education. They say money is the root of all evil if you think about it its true. When you let money control your life once its gone so is the things that came with it. Its not success if your paying other people with educations to do stuff you could've been doing if you would've got one.

Aspen Smith
10/2/2014 08:27:01 pm

It could be both good and bad , most people think just because they have money they don't need an education and others want education weather they have money or not.

You will not be successful when you skip educational opportunities for money. Money is some thats temporary. But and education will stick with you for the rest of your life. It don't matter about how much money you got its about how you spend it and will it take care of you for the rest of your life, cause there is no education for other jobs.

kayla hayes
10/2/2014 09:51:30 pm

i agree with him. money isn't always around long enough if you don't have something to fall back on like education to rebuild up your money that was lost there isn't no point its an decision you will regret

Emmanuel Robinson
10/3/2014 12:42:24 pm

I disagree with this in many ways just because you skip educational opportunities doesn't mean you will not make in life. Floyd is not the only person who drop out of high school that has money, Bill Gates also drop out and he is a billionaire. Money is temporary only if you make it, you have to learn how to make profit off of your money.

Bill Gates was at Harvard University when he dropped out doing a project FOR school that turned into Microsoft. However, Floyd Mayweather CANNOT READ.

Accomplishing your goals in life is what success is. Money shouldn't define who and what you are in this world. Deranique Browning

Education is the the key to success. Money is only a temporary fix in life. With education your earning potential is limitless. So many people are stuck at jobs they hate just to earn money, but with an education you're able to work your career of choice.

Skipping educational opportunities in exchange for money is something people tend to be lenient toward, but can someone really be that naïve? What most of us fail to understand is that knowledge is key for survival in today’s demanding society. Today, even college graduates are struggling to find employment following graduation. If that’s the case for an educated group of people, imagine the struggle for someone who chose the easy way out and didn’t get an education.

Tremont Allen

Money over education is never acceptable. Money is losing it's value everyday but no one can place a limit on your education. Having a education can help you make more money and help you accomplish more rather than limiting yourself.

Victoria Miller

Skipping educational opportunities for money can be success but it may come with consequences. You can skip education for illegal money or you can skip it for legal money and have success. It all depends on what kimd of money you're skipping the education for.
