COVID-9TEEN Edition: Disruption

4/6/2020

Picture
History is being made and you are living directly in its footpath. In fact, you are the historians of this time. How will you conduct yourselves? As a clue, this 9-week series has been created for you to share your experiences during the COVID-19, Coronavirus Pandemic. It is not only responsible but imperative that you document this history as it is happening so that, later, you can not only reflect on it but hopefully, learn, teach and evolve from it.

Through creative partnerships, selected short stories, blog posts, images, audio and videos will be published on #WhenTeensWrite, an online teen library. And in collaboration with ART | library deco, an online digital art library, all your submissions will be archived in their online repository in 2021.

Over the next nine weeks, you will write about the different effects that the COVID-19 virus is having on you, your family, your neighbors, teachers, friends and people around the world. Each week, you will tackle a different category to gauge the mindsets of other teens and how you are coping. The following is Week 3.

The world is living in a very challenging time. How did we get here? Why did we get here? Here means that families are being forced to eat together. Couples are being forced to spend time together. Individuals are being forced to think differently about how we do things: shop, interact, socialize, worship. Businesses are being forced to rethink how they service their customers. It is as if  that the Universe, or an energy higher than ourselves, is sending a profound message that the world needs to slow down and rethink or recognize what is really important. It took a potentially deadly virus to do it.

And slow down, we have. COVID-19 is a respiratory virus that's wreaking all kind of havoc around the world. It is stirring turmoil economically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, mentally, familially, romantically, academically, technologically, nutritionally and medically, as fast as it's being spread.

You are going to discuss these collections of turmoil so that the world can know out what you think. Of all generations, I believe that the Gen Zers, you, are the most effected because this will go down as one of the most impactful occurrences in your history.

In Week 3, you will write about disruption. There's never a time when you can prepare for your life to be disrupted. A disruption is an intrusion of your normal habits or schedule or plans. You surely couldn't have imagined just two months ago that your life would be such as it is now. The changes, the discomfort, the uncertainty.

Read this post in its entirety. Consider it, then comment intelligently, academically, respectfully and with fidelity on the following prompt:
In vivid detail, explain how the magnitude of the Corona virus has disrupted your life: school, work, relationships, home, etc.
1. INCLUDE: First initial AND last name AND class period.

2. Respond in no more than 10 sentences and no less than five.

3. You MUST respond to at least TWO other posts from any student. Your replies cannot be identical comments on different posts and posting shallow comments such as "I agree" or "I disagree" will earn you a zero. Make sure your reply addresses the comment that you are responding to.

CAUTION!! Do NOT embarrass me, yourself, your class, the English department, the school, your family or your upbringing with tasteless, meaningless comments. This is for a grade.

DISCLAIMER: If you do not respond AND comment on TWO others, you will not receive credit for this assignment. It's all or nothing.

WARNING: If you post even one second past midnight, your comment might appear to be posted, but as soon as it is opened to be graded, it will automatically delete.

Honestly, the corona virus has not had a terrible impact on me. I’m always in the house just relaxing and sleeping. For the work part I am enjoying this break. The people around me constantly complain enjoy this break. Honestly this situation we are currently in we should take this time to work on our self. As for relationships contact your love ones check up on them during this crisis. The store situations are getting out of hand we need vitamins and pills not all that toilet paper. We need to stay hydrated and safe. This is not the end of the world.

I totally agree with your point of view because you have to stay home for your own safety and for the heath of your baby that you have coming on the way.

Covid-19 has disrupted our lives because it has stopped us from attending school regularly , caused many businesses to close unexpectedly , changed the way people work , and change the way we live. This was such an unexpected crisis. It is a lot for people to have to get used to living this way. Many people are struggling to deal with this pandemic because it was so sudden and out of the blue when all of these things started happening. But we have no choice but to continue until this is over. This was a big disruption from our normal lives because it has become something different.

I agree with you this pandemic is a big deal and we should be looking at it from a bigger perspective than just simple things in our everyday lives . This is bigger than sitting in the house all day it’s our complete livelyhood.

Covid-19 has greatly affected my life because I would use school or going out places to get away from home and be able to get a sigh of relief and forget things. It has also made school a little hard because I feel like I have more trouble concentrating and getting my work done. Not only has it affected my school and my life, It also affected somebody I really cared for because they got the virus. Getting the virus and especially when you have kids to take care of could be so scary and knowing that I cannot help them is really upsetting. It just sucks not being able to do everything I normally do.

This Covid-19 has effected all of us in many different ways but for me personally its has impacted both in a negative and positive way. The negative outcome was i have to social distance myself from everyone i've had to stop going to school and work do to all these.
On the other hand the positive outcome is that i get to spend time with my family and get time to focus on myself being social distant isn’t a bad thing but keeping your distance is a better way, because you won’t get contaminated . Stay home process has been hard lately because, people still don’t follow the rules. I’ve been jobless lately and it’s not a good thing though it has affected me because I was used to my daily routines.

The corona virus has only impacted my life in a negative way. I haven’t got sick, but I have been working 100 plus hours. I have been working so much to keep the shelf’s stocked for everyone to feed their families. With me doing that I hardly have time to sleep & take care of my body properly. I don’t really have much time for myself or my school work. Corona has really been a disruption to my life. I can’t wait till have my life back.

I hate that the virus has effected you and so many of us in the same ways we need to come together and learn from this situation how to create better scenarios for our lives

The virus has left me with the consequence to actually sit and think how this could affect my future entirely . Sometimes it is hard to focus outside of the classroom setting with so many distractions around me . I easily forget what I am supposed to be doing . I am learning to better focus on my goals and take this time to fully understand my rights and the economic freedom of this world . Many people I know have lost their jobs due to this pandemic and are struggling even harder than they were before . It leaves me to think about the differences and changes that can be made in my neighborhood and community to help us during times like this .

    Mixed Ink

Mixed Ink is our class blog, the window into our souls. It was designed to improve students' writing, critical thinking and communication skills by giving them a platform to provide meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they see.

Although the students receive a grade based on a rubric for completing this assignment, they are not graded on complexity of thought. This is a place where students of all levels can freely, confidently and creatively express themselves and their opinions in a nonjudgmental platform. They are required to respond to and critique each other, but degradation, slander, lewdness, etc., will not be tolerated.
