If I was there I would have left too because it could flood our whole entire house and we could drown and I cant swim so I know I would drown, But for the people that wants to stay I will pray for you.

I think that not only the reason why u may need to leave is because you may drowned but also if you stay maybe other people might get the idea that's its okay to stay. What i'm saying is u also need to leave so u can stay safe and other people can to. Also just like u said for the people who did stay hope you are all safe and you are in my prayers. At the end of the day what happen to Houston was terrible and if i was there i would leave to.

I wouldn't only leave because I couldn't swim. I would also thought of the health and life of my family. Forget, what others are saying about staying. If I see that my family is in danger I would have gathered anything I can and leave.

You said "if I was there" but honestly you can't put yourself in their shoes until you have actually been face to face with that situation. The question asked for an analysis not scenarios.

What i saw was how the land in Houston looked before the Hurricane hit. I also saw how far the water rise. If i stayed in Houston and i knew the hurricane was coming i would leave because if i stayed something bad could happen to me. I understand why some people might stay because they might don't want there belongs damaged but also that's saying that u care more about your belongings than yourself. Also what i saw how deep the land was before the hurricane hit.

But like for example say you have something very important that you wanna get you wouldn't stay and get it? I understand that your house is flooded, but there's people out here risking their life's to rescue people, so why wouldn't you risk yours to get that very important thing, aye maybe you can rescue some people while your doing it.

What I saw was what a hurricane can really do to a city like Houston. I also saw how the water kept rising in every picture and the Hurricane didn't just affect Houston though, it affected a lot of other places with the gas. I also saw how the land was really deep before the Hurricane Hit and How good Houston looked before the Hurricane Hit and how its destroyed now.

I saw tall skyscrapers halfway under water and major highways flooded past the point of easy drainage and up to the highway signs above the road. I also saw many stores halfway underwater. This video makes me realize the amount of devastation a natural disaster can cause. Houston is a major port and a lot of the resources we need in the surrounding areas come from there. It makes me understand the importance of infrastructure in our society and how every place has some resource that other places need to ensure the flow of our everyday lives.

T. Dawson 4th

I have to agree with you. As of right now, we have a gas shortage because of what happened in Houston. Everything in our society is connected in some way and watching this video is a just reminder of how fragile our way of living is.

Z.Williams
9/3/2017 11:10:53 pm

I agree T.Dawson not only Houston is affected, everyone is. The gas shortage affected Dallas and other cities as well. We also have to include the family members of those who lost a loved one in the Hurricane, they are now feeling melancholy and anguish, most likely unable to function properly knowing that the death was over a massive hurricane brutally destroying anything in its path.

I saw a beautiful city turn into a what looks like an endless ocean. What was once a breeding spot for urbanization is now gone. The amount of time and patience that it will take to rebuild this city will be a burden for the Houston natives. Regardless of the city's physical state, the one thing I kept thinking about was the people. The amount of physical, emotional, and mental pain these people are going through is unimaginable. This video gives me a reality check as it reveals to me how privileged I am to be typing this response.

What I see is that Houston is underwater. There's a lot of water there and it's a harsh environment to be in at the moment. It's sad seeing a city underwater, imagine the animals and humans without shelter. It must be really hard for the people that live there. It's shocking as well, how a hurricane can destroy a city that fast without hesitation.

What I saw was houston in two different years.I saw the difference of Houston between those two years.Alot of places were flooded at the point people that were there couldn't do anything. They couldn't go eat and couldn't even leave if they wanted to.It was terrible and I wouldn't like to be there.

I saw the difference between the years and how much the flood has done to it . I Couldn't imagine my self in that position to where everything was all good to everything turning into a disaster and to see that it is a dangerous environment right now . To me it's shocking because how can something take away a whole city really quickly and now that city is underwater .

What I saw was several pictures of different locations in Houston Texas. Though the pictures were taken before and after the hurricane Harvey hit. In several pictures you see the water has risen above hills and highways. Even in some photos you see cars left alone on the flooded streets. The town is abandoned and everything is intact besides the flooding water.

What I saw was a beautiful city turn into the fictional island of "Atlantis". I would have left once I heard about the hurricane. I would loaded anything I can take and leave. Now, that I saw no only this video but many others, people are struggling. They lost many items and most importantly their homes. A lot of support to the families that lost their loved one in this devastating storm. The first thing I would have done is think what could happen if I stay. What is more important my belongings or my life.

In the video I just watched, I observed the before and after effects of what the hurricane Harvey did to Houston tx. the clip shows how land was turned into lakes. I also observed how there were people in the clips. Either they were looking for any people who needed help, or they were struggling getting around due to the abundance of water. I believe that if you know something dangerous or harmful is about to hit your area, you seek shelter as soon as possible.

In this video I watched I saw multiple thing I saw a beautiful city turned into a giant lake. I believe this natural disaster is horrible towards the environment and towards people’s lives. It ruined homes and people’s life savings, they have to start over completely they have to find shelter regain lost things and morn the lives they lost during the hurricane. I think other cities should donate and help Houston because no one deserves to go through that type of trauma. I think the earth can be very dangerous and wild Hurricane Harvey is just one of the examples why.

Houston looks like a big ocean right now .Looking at this is absolutely heartbreaking but it also made me see a natural disaster that's really close to home . Houston is a big player in Texas . That's where we get most of our stuff from but it's also where we get gas from . We have a gas shortage in Texas because of this disaster. This disaster makes me wonder how many people have died . Families are now pushed out of there homes because of this big drastic changes that couldn't be prevented. The video shows that you will never know what would happen in a situation like that

S.Moncivais 4th

I saw two different videos from Houston Tx . One from last year 2016 and one from this one 2017. I saw a place where thousands of people lived become a lake. Stores, Parking lots, even bridges are completely flooded. It is sad to know that a natural disaster can change your life drastically in a couple of minutes. One day you know that you have a house to come and be safe and the other one you don't even have a house because it under water. Not only the people from Houston got affected but also other cities, because there are many resources that come to other places in Texas. Houston will not be the same, the people who were affected either because it's something remarkable. The time that it will take to start over with houses, stores, etc. trying to fix everything and be stable again to become the city that Houston was once, but not the same.

Hurricane Harvey is one of the worst storms to hit the south in the past 20 years. However, after watching the video, I received a much more clear understanding of the negative effect Hurricane Harvey has had on residents of Houston. While I have made efforts to support the victims, I could never fully grasp the trauma that will remain after the storm. The video put it into perspective just how catastrophic the flooding was. It is important that relief efforts continue after the waters recede.

I saw how much damage a hurricane really causes. There was a specific picture of interstate 10 that spoke to me. If you ever been to Houston you know how deep that interstate is and just to see it flooded tells you how much water that is. You see the disater and catastrophe that the storm causes. What I saw in the video was the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Water is flooding a once busy and energetic city. This affects the people of Houston because many have lost their homes, jobs, and even family members due to this storm. I can’t even imagine the pain that the citizens of Houston are feeling right now. This video reminds me of the fact that anything really can happen.

Z. Williams
9/3/2017 09:20:28 pm

What I saw was the result of the hurricane in Houston; it was complete devastation, there were houses that were destroyed, buildings, streets, cars, and lives were taken. Within those lives were lost opportunities, lost children and a chance for one to change their life if they wanted. Not only were lives taken but equity, and money as well, the amount the government will have to pay to fix the damage will be hundreds of thousands if not millions; those who paid off their houses and cars now have to start over and lose their valuables and items they held sacred to pass down to their children and their generation. A very sad moment indeed, a natural disaster that affected places all over the world by causing people to stress and victims to loose their lives.

With racial tensions taking the main concern in America, Hurricane Harvey served as a reminder the United States is not invincible against Mother Nature. The aftermath of Hurricane Harveys wrath showcased how racial prejudice dissipated and how willingly people were to help those in need. This occurrence also demonstrated how prepared we were for this natural disaster and our country's leaders response to this crisis. Hopefully our beloved city, Houston and neighbor cities recover from this setback and return to the prosperous state it once was.

The video shows the aftermath of hurricane Harvey in Houston. It is a comparison of what 2016 Houston looked like vs. what 2017 Houston looks like now. I see drainage ditches with barely any water are now flooded. I also see what used to be streets are now rivers, and what used to be highways and parking lots are now lakes. Most importantly I see how powerful mother nature is and how powerless we are against her.

You are right, the video does show the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey's damage, on Houston,Texas. Not only the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, but also the before pictures of Houston,Texas, before Hurricane Harvey hit. I agree, I did see cement drain ditches with not of a lot of water in it, but after Hurricane Harvey hit, they were flooded. Also, I did see streets look like flowing rivers, and highways and parking lots that look like lakes, that had been there in Houston,Texas for a long time now. Lastly, it shows me how strong storms can be and how it can change a land geography for the worse, in just a short period of time.

Late last month a tragic event happened, causing thousands of people to evacuate their homes. The water rose many feet, causing homes, auto vehicles, stores and buildings to damage. This lead to many people being left without homes, no food, and no place to go. Rebuilding Houston is not an overnight fix, it will take years to fix everything that was damaged. These citizens will have to work harder to get what they once had. Lives where lost whether it was a pet or a person. They've experienced the least expected, an overnight catastrophe.

D. Moseley-4th/5th

From my observations I saw a natural disaster hit a city that was home to so many people. Houston has always been a source of wealth for Texas and the hurricane destroyed homes as well as people's lives. People are having to start over because they now have nothing. It's especially hard for individuals who loved to Houston after Katrina because it's like a round two for them. But as this was going on, you saw who was really down for their city and other individuals who are really willing to reach out and help unlike our useless president. In the video presented, I saw how Houston,Texas looked before and after Hurricane Harvey. First, I saw how Studemont Street at first, had a grassy hill , manicured grass, a roadway, and a cement drain ditch, but now it is flooded with water. Second, I saw how Interstate 10 at first, had a bridge going in to a road with businesses and a hill, but now it is flooded and we can barely see the bridge going into the road with businesses. Third, I saw how Market Street at first, had a big highway with signs, but now it looks like a lake with just signs. Plus, the other two locations at the end of the video, that one showed a road and the other a highway, which both got flooded, after Hurricane Harvey. Lastly, this is what I analyzed, when I saw the video about Hurricane Harvey's damage.
