And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.

1. In the video, it seems as if nobody was expecting someone of this stature to be in the place that this young man is. He was expected to have somewhat average grades due to the views people had of his culture. However, he decided that he wanted to be better than what he was initially expected to be.
2.Racial Stereotyping

1. This young man has obviously shown what he can do and has done what he needed to do to succeed academically. However where is all the highlight coming from, he's not the first to accomplish such actions so to what does he owe his exposure.

1. The video draws up an immediate question; its clear there is a stereotype being questioned but which one? Is the surprise of this man that he's from a city stereotypical gang ties? Or is it due to him surpassing the stereotype on his race?

1. The video shows white newscasters reporting a young black man excelling in school as if it was a rarity to see a "thuggish" boy be smart. This makes one question would this be in the news if he were white?

1. This video proves that young black men can be successful even if they are allowed to chose their own path. Black teens are not destined for failure. Determination and focus are key to reach a goal. Without a clear direction in life you will be easily influenced and make decisions that will not aid your future.

Does every student who has a seemingly unrealistic grade point average get their story told on the news or is this student's story special because he is black? It's amazing how people can be so surprised or intrigued by a student who is able to maintain grades while still being involved in other activities. Also why must evidence be show for others to believe he truly made these scores? This student has the appearance of an average african american student. The fact that he needs to prove his status to others shows that people would rather trust their intuition than information given to them by others.

1- This video shows a man who did not necessarily fight against stereo types but a man who fought for greatness.Inner he is portrayed this video goes not to prove against peoples stereotypical view point but to enhance them.By treating this as such a special event, this young man is seen a simply an irregularity among the majority. Thus it is the manner of this video can be seen to diminish this mans excellence by subtly supporting a stereotype that even makes his accomplishment special.
2- Media manipulation
3- Student makes headlines for being a black student who has excelled in school.

1) The video shows a young man that has been misjudged and overlooked due to his appearance. It is also important to note that the video teaches us that looks are deceiving and that we should not judge a person until we get to know him/her better.

3) A man is denied a job because of his "scary" look
4) Under what circumstances does emotion and intuition influence human behavior?

Theory of Knowledge is an elemental part of the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), in that it provides an opportunity for students to reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we know what we claim to know. You know?

Weekly, students will be given an image and/or prompt and expected to analyze a real-life situation then write meaningful content based on their interpretation of what they know they see.

I hope you enjoy peeking into the windows of their souls!
