"Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful" ~Rita Dove

Poetry Project Assignment

By the end of the poetry unit, you will have had to create your own poetry demonstration in the form of a book, album, journal, movie, film or other creative representation. You will present it to your class during our Poetry Gumbo presentation. You will work on it everyday during class, creating your own original work from the Bell Ringers, Quick Writes, prompts, readings, class assignments, and homework assignments.

Please make sure that your project is meaningful and intentional. Put some thought into it. Use your rubric to guide you on what that might look like. Be as creative as you choose. It's poetry.

The same goes for film, movie, journal, etc. Again, the object is to have fun, but be creative. NO DIGITAL PROJECTS ALLOWED (i.e., PowerPoint Presentations, Slide Presentations, Prezi, etc., unless it is a film or music video, starring YOU). Your project must be a physical manifestation of your poetry work.
**Mediocrity will NOT be accepted.**
