News of the Day

Each day, you will report to the class about a current event. A current event is an important social, political, economic, environmental, cultural, or historical issue happening in the world right now and reported by a credible news source.

Your goal is to become a more informed global citizen by paying attention to breaking news and events shaping the world around you. For your news story, be prepared to explain:

Who – What – When – Where – Why – How
  • Who is the story about?
  • What happened, specifically?
  • When did it happen?
  • Where did it happen?
  • Why did it happen?
  • How did it happen?
Then make one connection by identifying something S.I.T. about the story:
  • S — Surprising
  • I — Interesting
  • T — Troubling
And finally, what question do you still have about this story? What would you like to know more about? (Asking is a requirement.)
